Speedy deletion nomination of Priaulx League
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Priaulx League requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. wackywace 11:40, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
Changes have been made that means the article now conforms. (Darrylgsy (talk) 08:10, 10 June 2012 (UTC))
I would like some help with a page I have written, would you be able to help please? not a problem if you cant. thanks. (Darrylgsy (talk) 15:39, 7 June 2012 (UTC))
Thanks for the note - how can I help? I will not be able to do much until tomorrow morning. Daemonic Kangaroo(talk) 17:39, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
I hope I am sending these messages in the correct place? I saw that my page (Priaulx League) had been marked for speedy deletion, I think I have now corrected the mistake I had made and now it should not be deleted? I know I should have used my sandbox a little more...
1) One thing I am struggling with is the way you use a template to setup a page. In my example above I should use the football club template, but I could not find how to use it so copied another league and then made all the modifications. not the best way, but it seems to have worked.
2) lastly, in my sections some have a line going across the page, whilst others only have a short line. Could not find the code that I need to change to correct this.
3) Is there a way on Wikipedia to search all articles for specific text, for instance if I wanted to search for all references to "Priaulx League" to make sure all references point to the page I have started, how would I do this?
Any other help/feedback would be greatly appreciated. I have only just got into updating and creating pages. I have edited quite a few before I started on creating new pages. I have also created this page, which I think is all in order: Vale Recreation F.C.
Thanks in advance. (Darrylgsy (talk) 18:16, 7 June 2012 (UTC))

editTaking your points in order:
- When posting new queries on a talk page, you should add them at the end rather than at the top. The easiest way to do this is to click on the "New section" tab that appears at the top of the talk page.
- The "speedy deletion" tag was a little premature IMHO. In future, you should either develop an article in your sandbox or add the tag {{under construction}} at the top until the article is more or less complete.
- The way you went about setting up the page was fine. I have never used a new page template; I prefer to either work from scratch or copy the basic layout of an existing page.
- The lines above section headings are determined by the level of the section header, which in turn is determined by the number of = signs before and after the heading. I'm not an expert on these things, but normally we use a level two (== XXXX ==) header for most paragraphs, which adds a solid line. A sub-paragraph (level three === XXXXX ===) does not add a solid line (like the "Reply" heading above).
- To search for all articles that refer to the Priaulx League, you type the name in the Search box at the top right and then click on the dialogue box underneath (not on the magnifying glass) – this takes you to a Search Results page ([1]).
The main (and fairly serious) thing wrong with the Priaulx League article is the total lack of references. Presumably you got the lists of competing teams, winners etc. from a published source. If so, this should be stated in the article. Likewise with the Vale Recreation page, the references are rather thin on the ground. If you're not sure how to add the references, please come back to me.
I hope this helps. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 06:14, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

editIncidentally, I don't think that you should be using the Guernsey badge in the infobox - you will have to justify fair use: see here. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 09:29, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
I have now started a deletion discussion on this article. You are welcome to contribute. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 05:21, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Upton Park Trophy, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.rsssf.com/tablesc/chislchamp.html.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. editThank you. I've been looking at Guernsey FC's season intermittently but I don't follow Guernsey football much as I'm English and theres not much coverage of it. The C of E. God Save The Queen! (talk) 11:24, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for June 28
editHi. When you recently edited Upton Park Trophy, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page BBC Channel Islands (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 13:47, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

References
editHi - thanks for the query. To use the same reference more than once you need to first of all give it a name e.g. "REF123". You then add this into the first time the reference is used e.g. <ref name = "REF123" > Example</ref> [1]. For any further uses of the reference, you use <ref name = "REF123"/> [1] They then show thus:
See the first reference on Kevin Keegan, for an example. I hope this helps. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 08:45, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the additional reference, but I notice the establishment date is also unsourced. I can't seem to any mention of it at the group's website or other third-party sources. SwisterTwister talk 19:42, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Invite to the African Destubathon
editHi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:14, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
editHi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 08:58, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
