Although some prefer welcoming newcomers with cookies, I find fruit to be a healthier alternative.

Hello, GustenGast, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like this place and decide to stay.

Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them. If this is not the case, you may have been blocked or your IP address caught up in a range block.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
How do I create an article?
See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
  1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
  2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
  3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
  4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like <ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
  6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
  7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References==
{{Reflist}}
What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?
A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving the coverage of certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

Thanks for your contributions to Otto Gustaf Nordenskiöld. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 22:14, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Oh, sources are add now this minute. GustenGast (talk) 08:32, 2 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Now sources added. I pressed 'publish', but perhaps 'review' would have been better. Please let me know if more sources would be indicated. I have a couple more in the pipe. GustenGast (talk) 08:46, 2 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, GustenGast. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Niklas Lidströmer, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. voorts (talk/contributions) 01:05, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Understood. I declare no conflict of interest. More reliable sources are added now. I shall check so that there is no linkage to university of the person from other pages I write about. I will comply to all Wikipedia's content policies. Thank you for attention to detail. I will check this article again thoroughly. GustenGast (talk) 08:33, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I posted this notice because you have access to an unpublished photograph of Dr. Lidströmer and knowledge of how that photograph of him is going to be used in various publications in the near future. Only someone with a conflict of interest could possibly know that information. voorts (talk/contributions) 11:45, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I am writing a biography about the family. But I am not paid by them since it is an academic project. I confirm there is no conflict of interest, otherwise I could not be allowed to write this work. GustenGast (talk) 16:57, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
This might be a conflict of interest under Wikipedia's guidelines. I am going to make a post at the conflict-of-interest noticeboard to inquire. voorts (talk/contributions) 20:20, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have started a discussion at the noticeboard. voorts (talk/contributions) 20:27, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks you for informing me. As a writer I am very aware of the "biographers bias". That is what can make any bigraphy bad. As I wrote on the new page, I shall inquire. Mostly others (supervisor) have been in direct contact. I will email directly, since I may absolutely be mistaken. The fact that the photo is taken with an iPhone 13, speaks against that it is a professional photographer. Maybe they meant that it was "for" the published, but not by the publisher. Maybe this is a "private" photo intended for the publisher. I so, shall I ask for CC0 in writing and email it to you or post it somewhere? And if it is a professional, shall I also ask for this license (which hitherto have heard is a CC BY 4.0, but I am not sure now). GustenGast (talk) 20:55, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, so if it is a COI then, due biographical work, then do I have to remove the articles or cn someone else step in and rewrite and fact check with the references and other new sources? GustenGast (talk) 20:57, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Generally, if you have a conflict of interest, your articles should be written as drafts and then approved through the articles for creation process. Then, any future edits would be made as edit requests on the article talk page. voorts (talk/contributions) 21:14, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Niklas Lidströmer moved to draftspace

edit

Thanks for your contributions to Niklas Lidströmer. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability, it is promotional and reads like an advertisement and you may have a possible Conflict of Interest. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. voorts (talk/contributions) 01:06, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank for this needed attention to detail. The undersigned adds more sources now. GustenGast (talk) 08:30, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I shall also check so that it does not sound promotional. GustenGast (talk) 08:38, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I clearly understand linking to the books looked promotional or even commercial. This was unintended, and I thank you for altering. I do appologize! Removed links to the books. Removed some statements. Removed links. Added neutral sources. The sources density per statement is higher now. And I believe the text is more neutral. Trying to submit and publish now, but will seek more sources. GustenGast (talk) 08:49, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
PS: maybe I should contact the publisher and ask for the exact name? When I asked I received the answer that they often just write like a wrote, but there must be a physical person and I can ask. If possible let me get back with this info. GustenGast (talk) 17:02, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
