Good to see a fellow BCian on Wikipedia; great work with the AIV bot. If I could only get you to do one thing -- when you warn or tell users that they've been blocked, could you please substitute the template using {{subst:templatename}}? Thanks. theProject 00:35, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
P.S. Not that I should be telling you how to code your bot, and you've probably already thought about this, but in reference to the above bug, could I suggest that you program your bot not to remove any line with the string "{{IPvandal" or "{{vandal"? Anyway, great work, and it's already a fantastic help.
- The code that removed the extra report has a simple error that I quickly corrected. The bot is supposed to remove the comments below a report and a simple typo in my code resulted in it thinking other reports were comments, it seems to be functioning properly now. There is a discussion going on about this bot at the AIV talk page. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 00:39, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
- I always try to remember to subst my templates in warning, I may have missed a couple tho, I will try harder. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 00:41, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hi! I overwrote your message here, on the theory that the user was probably asking how to help us out by dealing with vandalism. I didn't want to leave your message there for the user to see, as it (inadvertantly) appears to violate WP:AGF. I hope this is ok with you. I responded to the user's question on User talk:Wiki wa wa. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 06:02, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
- You right in that it was a misreading. However one cannot inadvertently violate AGF, only intentionally. Thanks for removing the comment and correcting me. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 14:31, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hi again. I thought I aught to tell you about a user going by the name StonedBusby. It seems he is making a play on both your user name and your real name. Anyway, just thought you should know. Cheers, Philip Gronowski Contribs 21:15, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

It appears that the page User talk:HighInBC/ArchiveYear2006 was vandalized and I have reverted to the last version that you edited. I apologize if the anonymous edit was yours, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it wasn't. Cheers --Matthew 08:29, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I've been autoblocked. Please help. Vranak
- Fixed, sorry. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 19:12, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I've reverted vandalism on the Confederate States of America article, the person who vandalised it is the IP I have listed in (). (User talk:64.5.145.90), please stop him. Brain40 14:08, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ummm... can you unblock me from editing MY OWN talk page? Why is my talk page protected? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.222.128.24 (talk • contribs) 16:51, January 4, 2007
- Taken care of. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 19:39, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. Incidentally (don't take this the wrong way and ban me for 10 days again), are you high right now? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.222.128.24 (talk • contribs) 13:15, January 6, 2007
- The person using your IP before was not blocked for asking personal questions but for a variety of problems such as these[3][4][5]. As for if I am high or not, that is a bit personal and I don't think I know you well enough to answer that. Have fun. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 22:50, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I would like you to see the last two edits of the above user in WP:HOG. They may constitute vandalism. He replaced the names of two members of the project (first the one; then only the other) with his. I hope he is just experimenting. Thanks!--Yannismarou 19:55, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
- WP:AIV is the place to post vandalism, I am going for coffee now. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 15:01, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hi, HighInBC. I noticed today that User:T-rex has removed music video screenshots from the pages of Kimberley Walsh (here) and her bandmates Sarah Harding (here), and Nicola Roberts (here). The Kimberley Walsh image somehow got speedily deleted, which I don't think was appropriate. Also T-rex removed these images stating in the edit summary that they are copyvios, which I believe is incorrect. The screenshot on Cheryl Tweedy was spared but T-rex has effectively tagged the image for deletion (here). A few months ago, T-rex listed a music video screenshot of Nadine Coyle for deletion, and despite messages I left on T-rex's talk page and that day's images for deleteion page, my statements were largely ignored, no good reason for deletion was given, and the image was deleted without further discussion. I was quite frustrated at this experience and expected a bit more communication/cooperation/non-curtness on T-rex's part.
There are also screenshots of the music videos on the pages in which Girls Aloud's singles are discussed: Whole Lotta History and See the Day (song) are the two from which the individual screencaptures were taken. I also took the screencaps on those pages and did my best to capture all five band members in each shot. If only one screenshot from every music video is considered appropriate for Wikipedia's fair use, would it be acceptable to place one of these screenshots on the each member's page with a caption like "Girls Aloud's music video for "Whatever song this is (2007)." Walsh is pictured second from the left?," or would that be a violation of the "for identification and critical commentary on the music video in question" condition?
Could you please, whenver you can, look into this situation, and contact T-rex if necessary? Thank you so much for your attention. Fabricationary 22:35, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
- Fair use images should only be used if there is no other replacement. Since there is a fine free licensed image of Kim, then the fair use one is not justified. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 22:45, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
- OK, but it was correct for T-rex to then call the fair use images a copyvio when they were removed? And would it be OK to put the screenshots of all five band members (or perhaps their CD covers) on the individual members' biography pages, under captions like "Girls Aloud's video/CD or ____; ____ is pictured at the top?" It's nice that there are free images available for each girl, but the pictures weren't taken with the best lighting, so it is hard to distinguish what Nadine Coyle and Cheryl Tweedy especially look like from the photos alone. Fabricationary 23:13, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
- Not really sure, don't know enough about the subject, bring it up on the talk page. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 23:38, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

For a bot! Wonder if it would be called-for by consensus or not. Peace, --Kukini 00:18, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
- Talk page histories are open to anyone, I don't need consensus to index them(if I do it offline). I will need bot approval to write reports here automatically though. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 00:30, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
- True...your suggestion of tracking deleted notices, though, is very timely, speaking as one who spends a great deal of time in RC patrol. --Kukini 01:35, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi HighInBc,
What Wikipedia Library (or libraries) did you use to code HBC AIV Bot?
Thanks --Deenoe 03:15, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, always appreciate encouragement, I am working on my next bot idea now. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 23:13, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hi ... bot have the night off? I reported someone whom an admin blocked around the same time, and five minutes later a person removed my report from the page. Regards, Newyorkbrad 01:13, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
- User:Don't give up was not seen because it was on the same line as the --> on the page[8], that line is skipped. I can fix that so even if misposted like that it should still work. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 01:21, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
- Shouldn't be necessary, we should be able to figure out where to type the reports ... although the template could be a little clearer too with something like "NEW REPORTS UNDER THIS LINE" or whatever. Thanks for reply. Newyorkbrad 01:23, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
- Well if you change that line, tell me first so I can fix my bot, it relies on that line. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 01:28, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
- I'll leave it for now, we'll see if anyone else has any trouble. Newyorkbrad 01:29, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
- Supercool bot- I was shocked to go back to WPAIV and find the vandal info already removed. That's going to save a lot of work, I love it! Kaisershatner 16:47, 10 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
perhaps you should link to talkpage also for the blocking admin. →AzaToth 04:13, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
- I was doing that, but the edit summary was too long. The end was getting clipped off. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 04:25, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
This guy keeps vandalising the Ramones page and template, by adding an unsourced member to the band. When a source proved said member was not part of the band, he deleted the source. I have asked him repeatedly to stop be he has added back this wrongful information countless times.
The person who he claims is in the band is Billy Rogers. You can look at the history of that page to see his vandalism. The history of the Ramones page will also identify this.Hoponpop69 22:36, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
