- Hey, thanks for your insight. The sources I provided were the same sources used throughout the article(syrianchristianity.info, the Hindu etc.) I added https://oneinchrist.in/ also which is from members of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, and can be considered of similar validity as the other articles. - She's actually suitable to cite from, even on her blog, but the particular content you're trying to verify does not appear to be supported by the link provided. A source can be off the internet and still cited, but I recommend including a quotation. - Thank you for your reply. I wasn't trying to add information, but remove information. The particular information I was trying to remove was that Oriental Orthodoxy was only introduced to Malankara in 1665. She cites evidence that this is not the case on page 83, where she references sources saying that Thomas of Cana was sent by the Patriarch of Antioch, from the Kandanad Chronicle, "On the instruction and command of the Patriarch, the same Episcopa of Edessa called Joseph set off for Malankara in the company of that merchant, taking with him priests, deacons and innumerable people." This occurred in AD 345. Pg. 183, from Royal Court of Travancore "Within almost twenty years of the decision of the Council[of Nicaea], we find the Patriarch of Antioch taking ·action upon it. Thomas of Cana. who had much intercourse with the nations of the Western Coast, in pursuit of merchandize arrived at Cranganore in A. D. 341." It seems that Wikipedia is filled with the myth that the St. Thomas Christians were only Nestorian before the 16th century, when there was a sizable Jacobite faction(in addition to the Nestorian one). Infact, in Vatican records of the election of Patriarch Ignatius Dawud II of Antioch from the 14th century, the Maphrian/Catholicos of the East is cited as having authority "et. Ind. sed. cil. sancti Thomae Apostoli" or "and India and the seat of Apostle Thomas". https://archive.org/details/lecouventdebarsa0000honi/. The other changes I wanted to make was changing the name of the Malankara Metropolitan from "Joseph Mor Gregorios" to "Gregorios Joseph". This is to keep the styling consistent with the Patriarchs, and the Catholicos. "Joseph Mor Gregorios" is the styling of [Name], [[[Mor]](meaning Lord)], [Episcopal name]. With the same styling for the Patriarch and the Catholicos it would be Aphrem Mor Ignatius or Thomas Mor Baselios respectively. Additionally, I wanted to change the name from the "Bishops of the Church" to "Malankara Synod", because the bishops listed are those only in the Malankara Synod. Because it was a template, I did not see the need to include a source, though I did include the official website in the edit description, which shows all the bishops of the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church, most of whom aren't listed as they aren't a part of the Malankara Synod. - I also removed some unsourced information considering the roles and responsibilities of the Malankara Metropolitan, because while they might be the roles of responsibilities currently held by the legal Malankara Metropolitan(the Malankara Orthodox one), and many more in that line, they are additional responsibilities not tied to the role. - A lot of the citations for my content could be found in the other sources. Additionally, most of the article isn't sourced. Anyways, I went back and added sources at the title, using books written at the time, by people close to the issue. E.M. Phillips was the secretary of Mor Dionysius V, and publisher of the churches newsletter, and a well recognized church historian. Fr. Kadavil Paul Ramban was a hieromonk at Malecruz Monastery, and the book also has an introduction letter by Mor Baselios Augen I. Fr. Kurian Kaniyamparambil ArchCorepiscopos was also a well recognized scholar and teacher of the church, that was given the title of "Malankara Malpan" in the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Church, and is respected by both factions of the Orthodox Church in India, and has written and translated prayers for all of us. And I also provided the MOSC website as evidence for their line. If you have any issues with my sources, please just let me know instead of reverting the edits. - Thanks for the reply here. You're sort of new, so I don't expect you to fully understand why, but you have been going about this somewhat incorrectly. A quick explanation of WP:ONUS: if someone repeatedly reverts you additions, please do not add them back without consensus that supports adding the material back (that is, the onus is on the person adding content to find a consensus). The sources you list are ok, but you placed the citations only in the section headings (which you shouldn't do). Instead, place a citation that provides the page number being referenced after each statement. Is that a bit time-consuming? Yes. But it's required by WP:V. If you need help, please let me know! I won't revert you as I think you can prob just add citations with the page numbers. ~ Pbritti (talk) 22:42, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
