I'm taking a break...

We have had a so-so working relationship, but as you are one of the more prominent contributors to television station articles, I've decided to write this to you directly.

I'm taking a break from editing for a while. There's too much going on with me in this place that I need to regroup, enjoy the summer, and refocus. I feel that there is a lack of cohesiveness and willingness to share opinions and work together the way we should here, at least in certain areas. Right now, all of this is coming to a head for me, and I've decided to take a step back. I'm not sure when I'll return, but I will. Keep up the good work, and hold the fort until I return. Unspecified source for Image:MaryBonoGolf.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:MaryBonoGolf.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:34, 26 July 2008 (UTC). I was trying to get him to contact me and was trying to find an adminsistrator to help, but I am new to wikipedia I do not understand it fully. honestly my first impression of it is very poor. I held it high in regards to valuable information. I honestly do not anymore. I honestly feel it was kudos to me for making first contact instead of the constant undoing that was happening to the edits with no form of contact. The undo button is actually really easy to see it is out in plain sight, or I thought it was. I really am a new user. Hiya,

I took this action as it was urgently directed towards us by two employees of the Foundation. Would you be able to email me the name of the checkuser so I can double-check everything? In the meantime the advice I received from various sources was to unblock pending discussion with the checkuser who performed the check, as this is apparently significant massive collateral which even drew the developers' attention. Hi, I wonder what your rationale is for removing :back links" to speedily deleted articles using Twinkle? Case in point: St James Catholic Church: You removed back link from List of Registered Historic Places in North Dakota, which concerned a church in Jamestown, North Dakota that is on the National Register of Historic Places. You also removed a back link from an article that referred to a church by that name in St Louis, Missouri. There are many churches named St. James Catholic Church, so I have no idea which one the deleted article concerned. National Register state listings purposely have redlinks on articles to be created, so they will turn blue upon creation. Back linking short circuits this process. I have changed the name it the North Dakota list to St. James Catholic Church (Jamestown, North Dakota) I am, a member of both the NRHP and North Dakota projects. Best wishes. clariosophic (talk) 00:08, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

Zachary James Dodds

Hello there. I'm a bit curious as to why the article I posted was deleted? "Zachary James Dodds" gets over 700 hits on Google, he is a well-established member of the Arizona/Phoenix music scene, has released two professional-quality E.P.s, etc. I understand that many small time acts may not deserve a place on Wikipedia, but is it common practice to delete all prospective artists on the basis that they are unsigned? Thanks! -plannedtobe —Preceding unsigned comment added by Plannedtobe (talkcontribs) 22:02, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Soccermeko

I'm well aware. His access seems to be limited to two dialup ranges out of Atlanta: 4.129.*.* and 4.154.*.*. I have a tool that can check the recent changes log for all edits out of that range. Every once in a while, I scan a four or five day range of contributions, looking for valid anonymous edits out of that range. I invariably come up dry. I don't think that there would be any significant damage done by blocking that pair of /16s, as long as established accounts were still permitted to edit.
Kww (talk) 15:16, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

I'll have to soften a bit. I just searched the last 200000 edits to Wikipedia, and found 5 that were from anonymous editors in that range that were not obviously linked to Soccermeko. So, there would be some collateral damage. Not a lot, but some.

Query on block

Hello. Since I generally operate under a 0RR policy for the admin actions of my fellow admins, I wanted to check with you regarding your block of 76.203.35.37 (talk · contribs · block log) as it appears to be an out-of-process block. This IP's last edit was at 13:15 on 9/14 for which a level three warning was issued. The IP then stopped editing altogether, yet inexplicably received another warning [5], then was inappropriately reported [6] to AIV over 27 hours after they stopped editing. As such it appears that the block request fails AIV criteria #2 (they stopped editing more than a day ago) and #3 (the IP stopped after receiving a vandalism-3 warning). --Kralizec! Three Rivers

I would like to inquire about your plans/reasons for altering info and sentence structure of the Three Rivers Stadium article multiple times. I wrote the article in its entirity and it soon passed its GA review with only a few issues. Since then you have added multiple bits of Original research, POV, and un-needed re-wording. For example, in your last edit you changed a few things such as: "For their part, the Pirates wanted a bigger place to play" which I think sounds less encyclopedic than the former. Next you stated, "(Forbes only seated 35,000 people)" the inclusion of "only" makes the statement POV by implying 35,000 is a small number; in addition the capacity of Forbes Field changed multiple times and at the time of planning may not have been 35,000. Repeated use of the word "Pitt" is fine for conversation, especially to someone from western Pennsylvania, but it may confuse people unfamiliar to the term. The Pirates far from "abandoned" Exposition Park, it was a very long-planned move. "(similar to that of Shea Stadium)" is OR and the use of "similar" is POV. "The sight lines were better suited for football..." is once again POV, unless acreddited (which is currently isn't). I always appreciate improvement of articles that I write, but I do not fell that the instances that I have cited better the article. I have once more reverted the edits I felt were unecessary, but do not wish to get into an edit war in any way. If you have questions about anything don't hesitate to ask. Thank you! Could you permanently ban Jakezing?

Hi I noticed that you have banned a user called Jakezing in the past for personal attacks and incivility. While this user has not done anything to me in particular I noticed that Jakezing told a user to go "learn to read boy" because the user did not understand the markings on a map, which can be seen here [7]. The attitude of is highly offensive and patronizing to the other user, and seeing that this user Jakezing has done personal attacks in the past and has ignored previous warnings to discontinue this behaviour, I believe that this user should be banned permanently or indefinately. Thank you for your attention, and I hope you can do something about this.--R-41 (talk) 00:17, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Avril Lavigne vandalism

These vandal accounts and the template vandalism they caused were enabled because you unblocked 82.198.250.0/24 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) and replaced it with a soft block. As I explained at Template:Checkuserblock-Synetrix, even though these are shared IPs, almost all the edits are vandalism from the Avril vandal. These accounts were created recently on Tor, then used to vandalize from school. The template further gives several helpful instructions to good editors who might be affected. I am disappointed you lifted this block without informing or consulting me. Thatcher 18:47, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Kierra "Kiki" Sheard discography

I can go through AFD if I must, but I will point out that you deleted the subject artist as an article created by a banned user, the article was originally created by Usercreate, a blocked sock of Soccermeko, and the remaining edits have been trivial formatting changes, edits by other socks of Soccermeko that were rolled back, deletion of links to other articles that were deleted, and removal of images that violated NFCC. All told, I think this is a speedy candidate, but probably just a little too complex of one for me to just throw a "speedy" tag on it and hope the admin that notices it takes the time to understand just why it qualifies.—Kww(talk) 21:35, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Kierra "Kiki" Sheard

I notice that you speedy G5ed this article yesterday. Are you certain that this one was created by Soccermeko? Looking back through the deleted edits, the history goes all the way back to July 2006 and appears to have been created by a user with no block log entries who hasn't been active since August 2006 and appears, in terms of editing pattern and writing style to be unrelated to our persistent friend. Is there something obvious that I'm missing here? --Kurt Shaped Box (talk) 17:09, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Noticed this, and, while I can't look at deleted contributions, I think KSB is right. I think the Discography article (see above discussion) is a speedy candidate, but the Kierra Sheard article itself was legitimate.—Kww(talk) 17:27, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
Yep, we'd have to go back nearly a year to find the last SM-free version - but yeah, I think that the main article should be undeleted. Unless there's a good reason why it shouldn't be, of course... --Kurt Shaped Box (talk) 17:35, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
Went through the article, and found just a few bits contributed by Soccermeko that had been missed. He slipped up this time, and now I know that the 70.208.*.* addresses are also him. So, now I have two questions:
  • The rangeblocks we have up against his 4.154 and 4.129 addresses are due to expire in two weeks. Think we should extend them? 70.208 looks to be a huge Verizon Wireless block, so I'll have to dig through and see the contribution level.
  • Can either you or Kurt take care of her discography, or should I just tag it and let a random admin catch it?
Kww(talk) 20:46, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
Deleted the discography. I've left the redlinks in case someone wishes to recreate it. As for rangeblocks, It's really not my area of experience. I'm not going to mess with those because I'll probably end up blocking tens of thousands of innocent people by mistake... ;) You might want to take that to ANI. Or you could just let them expire and see if he comes back using that range - reverting and reblocking is simple enough. --Kurt Shaped Box (talk) 01:58, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
