Some remarks
editDear Hanna,
I have read your sandbox-article about the Diary of the Shah of Persia during his Tour through Europe 1873. I was really impressed!
This is the kind of information that makes Wikipedia into a real rich encyclopedia, for now and for the future. Thanks a lot for this valuable contribution so far.
Some general remarks in the first place:
- perhaps you can use the Template:Infobox book for your article. It gives a short, technical overview and it places the book partly in the right categories. See, for instance Following the Equator or The American Diary of a Japanese Girl.
- I personally prefer to make a split between footnotes/references and the literature. The footnotes will be a bit shorter, and separately it gives a nice list of literature used. See e.g. Life_of_Sir_William_Petty_1623_-_1687 or The Advice to Hartlib.
- It is good to embed the article in Wikipedia, by making links from other pages, like from the page Naser al-Din Shah Qajar and the page List of travel books.
Some smaller remarks:
- the title. I should say "Tour", not "tour".
- I personally like to make a small "bibliographic" paragraph at the beginning of an article on a book (see for instance Life of Sir William Petty 1623 - 1687), with things like:
- the original title; could you provide that, perhaps? I suppose it was written in Farsi, originally.
- OCLC ref. nr
- When was it translated? etc.
- I think most of your paragraph "Context" could be integrated in this "Bibliography" as well.
- Persia or Iran: I don't think it is a problem. Just use "Persia", as it was called in those days. The link redirects directly to "Iran" in en-Wikipedia.
- some smaller corrections I made directly in the sandbox:
- link to other lemmata: only one time.
- categories could be: Persian books and see for instance Following the Equator. See also:
List of travel books for other examples.
