editIf you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page:

. Bbb23 (talk) 22:32, 8 August 2022 (UTC)- I've revoked TPA.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:11, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Bbb23: too quick for me. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 23:12, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
- Not sure what you mean. You mean I acted more quickly than you did, or that you think my revocation of TPA was hasty.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:14, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Deepfriedokra@Bbb23, I just stumbled on this after checking a link on my user page. I don't understand why the user was blocked if there was an active ANI discussion about the case going on. Besides, the user had recently started editing in Wikipedia, so probably didn't know policies and guidelines. Sincerely, Thinker78 (talk) 06:13, 9 September 2023 (UTC)

- @Thinker78: Being new is not an excuse for editing disruptively. We were all new once; few of us got blocked. I'd have to dig up and dig through the ANI thread. Though, if the user is disruptive enough, admins sometimes block as an individual admin action and not as a community imposed sanction. Remember, blocking is done to stop disruption and is not punishment. It seems likely that the disruption continued on this talk page, too. The blocking admin was @Bbb23:. Going back to bed now as I see two of everything. Thanks. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 07:51, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- I'm not aware of a requirement that admins wait for the conclusion of discussion before blocking, my understanding is that is within their remit (especially when BLP is involved). The user appears to have been WP:NOTHERE and in hindsight I'm not seeing anything that suggests otherwise, you clearly are so tell us what it is. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 15:56, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- Blocking as Deepfiredokra said, specially in its indefinite form, is done to avoid severe disruption. A new editor doesn't know how Wikipedia works and hence many times will do what hardened editors know should not be done. But from their perspective, they oftentimes will be puzzled as to why they were blocked while try understanding the rationale of administrators who are much more familiar with things in Wikipedia. That's why in general we should assume good faith and not bite newcomers. Maybe BBb23 as you said found some other urgent reason, I will wait for their reply. - They continued the disruption while it was being discussed at ANI. That looks like a good reason to me. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 19:41, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- I think it would have been appropriate for the blocking editor to state so in the ANI discussion. Regards, Thinker78 (talk) 05:24, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
