Hi. Any help you could offer this article would be good. This director is notable as new associate director of State Theatre Company of South Australia along with these artists - Jim Sharman, Gale Edwards. It is an article that will build dramatically over next two year period.(129.96.234.165 (talk) 23:00, 16 October 2010 (UTC))
Penarth lifeboat
You have probably spotted I have done a copy edit and expansion at the Penarth page. I copied over your mention of an 'all weather boat' used up until 1905 at Penarth. However, my understanding is that powered vessels with enclosed superstructures were not introduced until the 1920s and Penarth's craft between 1883 and 1905 was an open oar-powered vessel - were they also described as an 'all weather boat'? 21st CENTURY GREENSTUFF 16:21, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well they certainly went out in all weathers tbh, there was such a wide range of craft prior to the Watsons, it's hard to catagorise them unless we just say 'Oared Lifeboats' or something? - Happysailor 18:17, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
- P.S. - I used the title'All weather lifeboat' because that is what the RNLI station history says - "1905 The all weather lifeboat was withdrawn from service..." - Happysailor 18:26, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
- OK we will leave it at that then ... and yes judging by the historic mentions they certainly did go out in all weathers - "thar be nutters!" 21st CENTURY GREENSTUFF 22:22, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Eek!
Hi Happysailor,
Just a quick note to say you might want to be careful when moving articles from WP:AFC into the mainspace. James Blake (musician) was created as a copy of one of its sources and yet you moved it across. I have no doubt this was an honest mistake, but perhaps you could check articles for copyvio before putting them live? Happy editing! Bigger digger (talk) 19:41, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- Please ignore this! The article is not a copyright violation since the BBC music page here uses the text from the Wikipedia article. Thanks! Mhiji (talk) 19:54, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- Well, don't totally ignore this, come and join in the debate at Talk:James Blake (musician)! Apologies if I've got this wrong. Bigger digger (talk) 20:23, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
"sic"
Hi, In this edit you "corrected" the spelling of "occassions". It was included in quoted text, and it was followed by "[sic]" to say that this incorrect spelling was in the original and should not be corrected! I've now replaced it using {{sic}}, which should prevent this happening again, but please remember to keep an eye out for this situation when you are making spelling corrections. If you had looked at the page you were editing you should have spotted this. Thanks. PamD (talk) 08:26, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

STM is a legitimate abbreviation that stands for Smile To Myself. This abbreviation is commonly used between me and my friends when we are chatting. Since the other person cannot see you, it's logical to say Smile To Myself. I understand that LOL has a wikipedia page even though it means laugh out loud which doesn't make since considering most people don't laugh out loud when they use the term LOL. I hope that you see the reasoning behind the term STM and let me keep it up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.184.246.206 (talk) 01:17, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

- Erm, doesn't wikipedia stipulate that the subject must be notable? A wedding between two persons who society has arbitrarily elected to bestow "royal" titles upon is in no way notable. Anyone that buys into the notion of royalty needs their head examined, for it is but a figmant of the collective imagination —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.71.85.239 (talk) 11:05, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Hi Happysailor, Thank you for monitoring my post on the above mentioned page. But actually it was me, Cleyn, who was editing my OWN comment, not an anonymous vandal, I just forgot to log in again. My mistake. Is it possible to revert back to the last changes, so that I do not have to retype all the changes I made to my comment? Regards ban...?
How is adding the approximation in 2010 dollars of the retail price of a popular retro item (the Curta) that is quoted in 1970 dollars vandalism? This information is available in many places on the internet, and is a constructive, good-faith edit.
For that matter, how is moving the child sexual abuse scandals of the founder of DEN.com to the introduction of the self-same page vandalism, when more than a third of the entire text of the article is about those self-same scandals? It is more of an accurate introduction to the article - which has a preponderance of information on those charges - and is a more fitting conclusion to the sentence, "Is most well-known for...".
I don't see your point, nor your anger, nor the point of your anger, seemingly directed at good-faith and constructive edits made by me: a far cry from vandalism. Would the correction of grammar be considered vandalism unless it was referenced out of an issue of Nature? 75.179.176.190 (talk) 21:45, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

The article on Machines
Please read the discussion on the article on machines. Our colleague Derek farn continues to make changes that introduce errors. He has been doing this for years and seems to have some standing, so he does not feel the need to justify his actions. The outcome is the article provides misleading and inaccurate information. An AfC decline/request
Per this decline... I notice you do a lot of work on AfC (many thanks btw) and perhaps this editor slipped through the cracks, but until I left a 'Welcome' and some other links just now, your decline was the only message on their talkpage. They are a pretty new editor with only 2 edits and I hate to ask you this, but perhaps the next time you give a decline you could check to see if there's a 'Welcome'?, and, if not, leave a Welcome on the page before the Decline. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 17:18, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, Thx for the note. I can see where your coming from with this, however the decline note (since it was reworked) is actually fairly neutral now as it just says there are a few issues you need to fix before we can accept it which is nowhere as negative as the original decline note.
- I'll certainly look at adding welcome templates in the future though. - Happysailor (Talk) 18:25, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Can you advise me further

CTA
Hi, about your revision of my new page. I want to describe more about CTA, but for me it just cool software but it my internal view. Maybe you can add something other point of view? Links are not nessesary, my description is a brief about sciense and technology, used in development. If you just search in google about Chernokozov Trading Adviser you fing more than 45000 references, and also more than 33000 Customers. is it to small to describe in wikipedia? I reference to Google Android Market (by the way CTA software on android is free), and more. In any way I will do improvements on page by other technology/internal data about technical processing. Haywards Heath Town Ladies Football Club
Hi , I am baffled as to why my submission is not acceptable , if you search for HAYWARDS HEATH you will find an entry for Haywards Heath Town Football Club so is it just because we are a womens football Club ? Also if you search for Hassocks you will see a lenghty entry for Hassocks F.C which includes mention of a ladies section
With us being the 2nd oldest Womens football Club in the whole of Sussex surely that is "Notable "? however I can add that we received the Sussex County FA Charter Standard Club award for 3 seasons running - 2007/8 ,2008/9 and 2009/10 seasons the ONLY womens Club in Sussex to have received the award , surely that is "Notable" [verifyable on the Sussex County FA website already mentioned

- All articles must prove their notability by showing significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Your submission does not include any third party sources, and does not assert it's notability.
- If you take a read through WP:NOTE and WP:SOURCES, they explain what is required in order to prove notability. All sources should also be ited using inline citations (WP:REFB) so that sources are matched with relavent statements.
- WP:First article may also be of help to you. - Happysailor (Talk) 10:35, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
Monash Warriors Gridiron Club
Hi, I was just wondering what content I hadn't adequately supported with citation? Thanks, Prioxygreen (talk) 11:26, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Prioxygreen, Your main references are the warriors own club site, and the competition website of the organising authority? which are both primary sources.
- To meet the notability standard, articles are meant to show significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject - See WP:GNG. All you need is to add a couple of independent/third party sources that show it's notability, such as newspaper articles etc. See WP:SOURCES, then you should be back on track. - Happysailor (Talk) 15:19, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

Kepler Space Institute
I was aware of the rules concerning attribution and sourcing, but in this case it is from personal knowledge, and I did not understand how to source that. The article was written at the request of the principles mentioned in it -- Bob Krone and Bob Frantz -- and was approved by them before submission. I, personally, have been closely involved with the development of the Kepler Space Institute and can attest to the accuracy. Well, well, well, I do feel to have been treated unfairly. I have, after initial criticism, reworked the article, and what do I get? THE VERY SAME WORDS to justify the rejection as at the first time. This, even assuming goodwill, is not acceptable. There aren't, by the way, any materials listed produced by Mr Schultz - they are referred to by indicating the place where they can be found (which is highly important information when it comes to enyclopedically inform the readership about a gallerist, as this differentiates a serious gallerist from just another picture dealer). If I quote a (VERY VERIFYABLE) newspaper article written by Mr Veit Stiller – where the heck is the reason to call that 'material produced by the subject'? I cannot help feeling the need to point out that a general qualification will not do to judge the article, one will have some knowledge of the international art market, otherwise it is rather difficult to judge what the target group wants to know. In this respect the article satisfies all needs. How can you call the text, after eliminiation of most adjectives, advertising? ANY MENTION OF ANYTHING to be had on the market would, then, be advertising with the consequence of closing down Wikipedia almost altogether. You may not like that art is seen in a commercial context (commonly called the art market), but, mind you, this has always been that way (a painter will have to pay for his bread at the baker's). But that doesn't necessarily constitute advertising.

- I suggest you take a moment to yourself, calm down and read again what I posted when I declined your article submission, as I did not summarily decline your request with the same reason as before. - Happysailor (Talk) 16:38, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
RE: My recent post on Irv Benson, please reply
Hello,
Let me apologize in advance if I am not communicating in correct form, I am pretty flummoxed by all of this.
Here is the link to my entry that you recently reviewed:
I am not sure if you turned my post down for not having reliable source material or whether that source material was incorrectly formatted. I have formatted my source as an in-line reference per Wikipedia's instructions.
Will that be sufficient for the entry to be accepted?
Thanks, Peter Blaiwas

- You've got the inline sources right, however all articles need to be notable, so a few more sources would be very good.
- After you;ve made changes, just slap the submit tag back on there and a reviewer will look at the changes automatically and give feedback or accept. - Happysailor (Talk) 10:16, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
Lanie Robertson Article
Hello Happysailor,
I am the person who was working on the bio for Lanie Robertson the playwright.
When I first submitted the article it was rejected and the chat folks said that I needed to submit links that would establish that Robertson was a notable playwright. Many of the links I provided were looked at by them and they said they were good to use.
There is at least one NY Times article and it states in the directions that it is a major source.
Could you please let me know what I'm doing wrong? Robertson is an important playwright and to theatre folks the name would be familiar. Of course if you do a google search on the name you can find a whole lot of evidence that he is indeed a known playwright.
He is familiar to Casey Childs who has a listing of his own in the Wikepedia.
I'm sorry if I'm not more adept at figuring this out but I was told by the chat people that this was the right direction to go in. My computer skills are not great so I struggle a bit.
There are numerous newspaper articles on Robertson's plays including the new Hank Williams one, websites and publishers that are selling the published plays, I know that he has been writing for many years and I was surprised to see him not listed in the Wikepedia.
Thanks so much, Joseph

- Please read what i wrote on the decline section, which was:
- Please use inline citations for all references. These references should be from reliable third-party sources. Please see WP:SOURCES and WP:REFB
- - Happysailor (Talk) 21:06, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
The reason I'm confused is that I thought the links I sent were reliable. The NY Times? Established newspapers, publishers websites, etc. I don't want to bother you if you are busy but the sources I've sent seem verifiable to me. What other kind of references could a playwright possibly have?
The Wikepedia entry for Casey Childs only contains one reference which is an article in Theatre world. I am having trouble understanding how that is verifiable but the sources I sent are not. Thanks again I really appreciate anything specific you can tell me. Joseph 108.27.94.112 (talk) 21:19, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- You don't seem to be reading what I posted. I asked you to use inline citations for your references (which should be reliable, third party sources - which you say they are, great). I then gave you two links that offered advice on how to do inline citations. References are there to verify information in an article.
- i.e. Bob won a Nobel Prize (Insert Reference Here) He also won the Best Rear of the Year award 2011 (Insert Reference Here). - Happysailor (Talk) 22:26, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
I think I understand, Happysailor. Thanks for your patience! I was not using the citations in the correct place and I was misunderstanding what "inline" meant. I will have to re-do everything at some point when I have more time but at least I have a better understanding of what needs to be done.
I really love Wikepedia and it's only because I have so little free time that I did not become a member a long time ago and make some contributions. Anyway what the future holds who can say but at least I may have at least one or two done over time.
Best to you! Joseph 108.27.94.112 (talk) 01:06, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

- You need to provide reliable, third party references to the article in order to show that the book is notable. These references should be added as inline citations (as per the note on your talk page). The link to amazon is not really a valid reference, as all it shows it that the book is for sale. - Happysailor (Talk) 15:24, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

- Firstly, you may have a conflict of interest in writing this article, so i would be careful and ensure that your style of writing is neutral.
- Secondly, the article you submitted, contaiend no references whatsoever to explain why this rapper is notable as per the General Notability Guidelines. References should be added that are from reliable, third party sources, and should be added as inline citations as per WP:REFB.- Happysailor (Talk) 15:27, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
rejection of SMK Seri Kembangan
greetings, i m new at this, can you please tell me (in simple english) how to cite reliable sources. to be honest, i just want to built an introduction to my school, nothing fancy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tohney (talk • contribs) 16:06, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
- You need to provide reliable, third party sources that prove notability as per the General Notability Guidelines.
- To do this, you need to add inline citations to your text (See WP:REFB on how to do this). Only if an article has valid references will it be accepted. Regards - Happysailor (Talk) 15:29, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
Happysailor,
Thank you for the quick review.
I did not use googlebooks long URL to confirm the Scouting Magazine Sep 1982 Article which beyond a doubt establishes the notability of Ann W. Nally.
Here it is. If it should be included as a link then please let me know:
There is an additional google books scan of the Mar/Apr 1980 Scouting Magazine here that I did not cite but maybe should be included:
In case you are not familiar with Scouting Magazine - it has confirmed paid circulation of 969,000+ and has been published since 1913.
from link in Wikipedia article on Scouting Magazine.

- Hi, You need to add your sources as inline citations (See WP:REFB on how to do this) next to the text that the sources corroborate. A list of links under the references section doesn't help us figure out if the person is notable (which she may well be) and to try and match your references to statements. - Happysailor (Talk) 15:32, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
