Adolf Fredrik's music school

edit

Hi Harkain, I've noticed some good contributions of yours lately. Care to have a quick look at Adolf Fredrik's music school as well? Klättermusen (talk) 16:01, 10 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello Klättermusen! Sure, I'll give it a look. Thank you for your contributions to Kungsholmens Gymnasium by the way. --Harkain (talk) 16:26, 10 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
I wrote a similar article on Adolf Fredrik's Music School because my daughter liked it very much when she was a student. Did you have Bengt Ollén as a teacher while at Kungsholmens Musikgymnasium? I have written a short article about him that includes links to Kungsholmens Musikgymnasium, but haven't published it yet. I am also writing an article about Ollén's choir Sofia Vokalensemble that I personally think is the best amateur choir in Sweden right now. One possible improvement of the article on Kungsholmens Musikgymnasium could be to write something about the three choral teachers, each of whom leads a world class choir; Ollén with Sofia Vokalensemble, Helene Stureborg with Stockholms Musikgymnasiums Kammarkör and Helene Stureborgs Kammarkör, and finally Mikael Wedar with S:t Jakobs Ungdomskör. Ollén's and Wedar's choirs have both won the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing that is considered the unofficial world championship for amateur singing. Stureborg has come as far as the final of the competition with Stockholms Musikgymnasiums Kammarkör but hasn't won (yet), so I bet she is a bit depressed.
Here is the draft on Ollén: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Kl%C3%A4ttermusen/sandbox3
And this is the draft on Sofia Vokalensemble: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Kl%C3%A4ttermusen/sandbox2 Klättermusen (talk) 06:05, 11 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
I was in the International Section, and picked art instead of music, so I'm afraid my contact with the Music Section was limited to attending some of their concerts. I'm thinking the music section deserves it's own subsection (under study programmes perhaps), where your suggested improvements could be made. I will take a look at your drafts for the choral teachers.
Regarding Adolf Fredrik's Music School, probably the greatest improvement I can see would be to archive as many of the reference sources as possible (to ensure their availability). If you'd like I could (probably slowly) work on that? Harkain (talk) 11:22, 12 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Great! I tested archiving in the Adolf Fredrik's Music School article (see reference 8), but I'am not 100% sure that it correctly done. Should this be done upfront or once problems arise?
I also notice that you have added lang-sv code to the Kungsholmens gymnasium article, so I tested it myself. Is there any rule for when this code should be used? Klättermusen (talk) 17:47, 12 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
You archived that reference correctly! I always archive any references I make (if possible - sometimes websites do not permit the Internet Archive from scraping their site), as this a) keeps an accessible copy of the source in case the original is not found b) keeps a snapshot of the source exactly as you found it, in case the information on the page changes, users can still see exactly what you saw at the time of writing. Just make sure the version you archive has the information you want, or make a new snapshot. Waiting until problems arise could be too late, it is possible no versions have been archived!
There isn't any rule I'm aware of regarding lang-sv. I just used it because it is easier to keep consistent within and across articles. It is also based on the preferred wikipedia style guidelines.--Harkain (talk) 18:24, 12 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
I am trying to link to this file's archive file on the Wayback machine but it is just blank, got any idea why or what I can do about it? http://www.dn.se/livsstil/reportage/sonja-alden-laten-satt-direkt-det-var-som-ett-overnaturligt-flode/ Klättermusen (talk) 11:46, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
I copied the url you gave into wayback machine, it gave me a calendar with only 1 snapshot. Here it is: https://web.archive.org/web/20150416025527/http://www.dn.se/livsstil/reportage/sonja-alden-laten-satt-direkt-det-var-som-ett-overnaturligt-flode/
I am not sure why it would be blank for you. I also just made a new snapshot right now, and everything appears to work correctly. Try again after restarting your browser perhaps?--Harkain (talk) 11:53, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
I normally use Chrome, so I just tested IE instead, and it works. So I guess there is a security function in Chrome that blocks something on this page ... magic :-) Well, thanksKlättermusen (talk) 12:28, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hi Harkain, long time no write. I need some advice. 1) I have followed your previous advice and archived all my references, and included an archiveurl in all references. Should I include BOTH the archiveurl and the url, or is it enough to include the former? 2) Is there a way to ask for reassessment of a page when one feels that it has been improved quite a bit? Or ask for assessment of a page that has never been assessed at all? --Klättermusen (talk) 14:47, 1 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hello! I would include both, as adding the original URL allows a user to explore the original website (the archive might only have a snapshot of a single page on the website), which could be useful assuming the content hasn't changed. If the content has changed/become inaccessible that's when the archive comes into play.
For assessments, if it is an existing article you can go to the pages of the various wiki projects that are interested (e.g. Wiki project Schools: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Schools/Assessment) and request an assessment/reassessment. The procedures vary, but you should be able to find instructions on each project's page. If it is in a sandbox I think there is a little button at the top that submits your draft for review. Hopefully this answers your questions, and happy editing! Harkain (talk) 16:46, 1 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
