The Pilgrims were Separatists, they believed in Separating from the Church of England whereas Puritans believed the Church could be purified from within. The separatists shared the basic religious beliefs with Puritans except they believed in freedom of individual to worship as they wanted and freedom unfettered from State and Church control. The separatist movement started in North Nottinghamshire near Retford. The area was a hotbed of religious development.2A02:C7F:B628:5C00:3CA9:DD84:31FB:3094 (talk) 17:25, 12 May 2018 (UTC)
