Hi Gadget850, Thanks much for the warm welcome. You wrote "One more day until you get confirmed. Another day to work on User:Harvey lee songfeld/new article name here and get if referenced so it does not get deleted. See the welcome I left on your talk page for info." But your reply above made no more references to getting my article "referenced". I had considered the references I already gave (5) were sufficient to begin with. Are they not enough? Also, any idea how I can change my name here? It reads "Harvey lee songfeld"...I forgot to use capital letters where it's appropriate (Harvey Lee Songfeld). Thanks much. ````
"I see you have sources in the article, but they're not quite laid out right: see Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to do this. "
I just read the Citing sources section. I'm unclear as to exactly how I can improve my citations. I'd certainly like to be able to get rid of the "[1] [2] [3] [4] [5]" that appear without good purpose, for starters. Also, some of my information comes from Israel's film themselves, which I'm unsure how to reference.Harvey lee songfeld (talk) 04:56, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Hi. I'm still trying to move my article to the main page, but don't see a "move" button on the page to press. Any help would be appreciated.Harvey lee songfeld (talk) 22:56, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, I was talking about that row of references. Notice in Wikipedia:Citing sources where it says, "An inline citation should appear next to material that it supports; if the same material occurs more than once the citation should be next to at least one of the occurrences." That's what I was pointing you to, mostly - the <ref></ref> tags should be just at the end of the sentences they point to, not all at the end above the reflist. Also, you don't see a move tab because you're not autoconfirmed yet. Your account must be four days old and have ten edits - you just have to wait another day. Let me know if you have other questions! Good luck! Fleetflame · whack! whack! · 01:26, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
i think i figured it out! eureka! thanks! meanwhile under my "contributions", all entries and re-edits have disappeared and the only place i find my article is under "subpages". why did this happen? should i be worried? wow, this website is like learning a whole new internet language! lucky there is a wealth of help pages and folks such as yourself to guide a newbie. i signed up on friday by my notes, so i thought the waiting game would be over by now but i guess i'll wait another day. thanksHarvey lee songfeld (talk) 02:57, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
i'm confused at this point as to why i can't move my articles to the main pages. i signed up and began writing 1st drafts on friday, and now it is wednesday night. maybe the "move' button is there and i just don't see it? Harvey lee songfeld (talk) 00:24, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
now i'm confused additionally as to why the "talk" help has been nil in terms of response to above queries. perhaps i'm feeling sentimental for the good ol' days (earlier this week) when i got a reply to my question within 12 hours. anybody out there? i still can't move my page...thanks...Harvey lee songfeld (talk) 16:58, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry Harvey Lee Songfeld, I've been slightly busy the last few days. The Move tab should be just to the right of the "History" tab on top of the article page: I'm not sure why you're not seeing it. Fleetflame · whack! whack! · 22:24, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
thanks for responding. i keep looking and looking, but i see no such tab. nothing says "move" anywhere on the page. for tabs, i see:
* User page * Discussion * Edit this page * History * Watch
that is it. what can i do?Harvey lee songfeld (talk) 01:38, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- Are you by any chance using the "beta version"? If so, that might affect it - there may be an error. Check your preferences and make sure you're using the monobook skin, that might help. Fleetflame · whack! whack! · 21:50, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
no, i am not using the beta version. any other advice? thanksHarvey lee songfeld (talk) 02:13, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
- No, I'm afraid I don't have any other advice. I can move the page for you if you want, but I have no idea why you aren't seeing a move tab, and I can't find anyone else who does either. I'm sorry. Fleetflame · whack! whack! · 02:20, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
sir fleet flame, i would be grateful if you can move the page. i'm confounded as well as you and "anyone else". i have pretty good vision with my contact lenses, nearly 20/20, so i doubt that's the issue. i've got a spankin' new macbook that works just fine. it will remain, for now, one of life's great unsolved mysteries i guess....thanks for your help. Harvey lee songfeld (talk) 04:12, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
- I've moved it now, Harvey. I'm stumped why you couldn't see the move tab, but the article is now at Marc Israel if you want to edit it there. Good luck! Ask me if you ever need anything :-] Fleetflame · whack! whack! · 17:22, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
stumped as well, but now satisfied too. thanks much for moving it....oh, i just noticed that a "move" button now appears as a tab on almost any page related to my account!Harvey lee songfeld (talk) 18:33, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
