Copyright
editHello! I stumbled on to your contributions and wanted to leave an important link regarding copyright policy that we have here on Wikipedia. Please read through WP:COPYRIGHT. Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material (and unless stated, any material on the internet is copyrighted). That being said, your article Savenac was almost entirely word-for-word from a website about Montana. Likewise, a sentence or two from your other contribution Haugan, Montana were copyright violations. Please use these websites as a reference and rewrite it in your own words. Let me know if you have any further questions. Best of luck! Cheers, Rkitko (talk) 16:12, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Hauman G. Haugan (born November 7, 1840 in Oslo, Norway) also known as H. G. Haugan, was a Norwegian-born American railroad executive. H. G. Haugan served with the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad, as land commissioner and comptroller.
H. G. Haugan was a partner and shareholder of the banking firm Haugan & Lindgren. H. G. Haugan served with the State Bank of Chicago. Haugan in Mineral County, Montana was named for H. G. Haugan.

Proposed deletion of St. Hanshaugen Park
editA proposed deletion template has been added to the article St. Hanshaugen Park, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. editWelcome to Wikipedia. The ?diff=264662250 recent edit you made to Geophysical Institute, University of Bergen has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, please ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Dag-Are Haugan, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
- avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. THE AMERICAN METROSEXUAL 16:15, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, as you did at Randolph Edgar Haugan. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.
Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.
If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. Patar knight - chat/contributions 01:34, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Harald K. Haugan
editI have nominated Harald K. Haugan, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Harald K. Haugan. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Edit summaries please
editHi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you.

editto adding a picture of J Fjelde's Minnesota Monument, but that's cool. What really brought me here is wondering why you included information about his grandson in a footnote from a 1943 source that has no mention of him? I don't really care because I trust your edit, but . . .. ? Also if you add anything to your user page than your name will appear in blue instead of red, thus making checking your edits a bit easier on those of us who do that sort of thing. Ciao, Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 02:48, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
- However the 1943 article does mention that Jacob was the father of Paul Fjelde - actually, the article referred to is about Paul. But this is fine. Now about the red name of yours . . . . . ............. Carptrash (talk) 19:49, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Copyright: Aagot Raaen
editHi. I appreciate that you made some efforts to paraphrase the text on Aagot Raaen so it would no longer be a copyright infringement. Unfortunately, adding synonyms and minor alterations in the sentences won't relieve the plagiarism issue. As it is currently written, the text will need to be deleted as a copyright violation. You are welcome to rewrite the text using original language. The page on WP:Close paraphrasing can provide you with some explanations and help. In the long run, it is always better to simply write the text from scratch using your own words. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Regards. Theleftorium 20:03, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

editThank you for the real good work you are doing now on a number of articles about early Swedish historical figures!
Are you being very careful with Herman Lindqvist as a source?

Trans-wiki links
editHey! Thanks for cleaning up articles :) I notice you add a few external links to the Norwegian Wikipedia, such as for instance "Erich Christian Dahl" in E. C. Dahls Brewery. It is a lot better to just leave it as a red link. There is nothing wrong with red links, quite the contrary: they encourage editors to create new articles and is an important reason so many new articles are created. Also, any external link in the prose is not good; relevant external links should go at the end. It is also very frustrating for non-Norwegians to get sent to a foreign-language site without any warning (external links and references should always be marked as such if not in English). Beyond this, it is much appreciated that you are improving the articles. Happy editing, Arsenikk (talk) 18:55, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Marie Løkke, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://finearts.luther.edu/artists/lokkemarie.html.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Margaretakirken
editHi Hauganm. I notice you added information on the Margaretakirken to the article on Saint Margaret of Scotland. Which is great, but it appears to contradict the article about Maridalen, which says that the Margaretakirken is dedicated to Margaret the Virgin. Can you confirm which is correct? And is it covered by the reference to Olsen, Ted Kristendommen og kelterne forlaget (2008)? In which case it just needs an inline cite. Thanks, Jonathan Oldenbuck (talk) 13:50, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
Autopatrolled
editHi Hauganm, just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled right to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Sadads (talk) 16:56, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
References and you
editMany of your edits are problematic. You move around references and sometimes remove them. This often makes it difficult/impossible to know where a claim was taken from. You don't use cite templates either. Geschichte (talk) 09:15, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- I also find copyright infringements. Geschichte (talk) 09:27, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
In a paragraph with one reference, the reference covers the entire paragraph. When you insert material from another source into that paragraph, everything is messed up. It is not allowed. Geschichte (talk) 22:21, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

- Jacob Aall Ottesen also seems to have problems, as it includes content directly translated from [1]. According to that Website's "about" page, content on the website is copyrighted with rights reserved unless more liberal license is noted. It, too, is blanked pending resolution. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:21, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
- Orin D. Haugen also includes content copied at least from [2]. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:29, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
- Johan Reinert Reiersen is copied at least in part from [3]. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:32, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
- Knut Gjerset also includes content copied from this copyrighted page. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:36, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Copyright block
editI have indefinitely blocked your account. My investigations above show that you have been placing copyrighted content onto Wikipedia for years (both through translation from other languages and copying English sources) in spite of multiple warnings to stop dating back to 2008. You were told to read copyright policy many times. There is no reason, then, for one example, that you should have copied content from this explicitly copyrighted page into the article Orin D. Haugen. For instance, that source says the following:
During vigorous training at Camp Mackall, NC, Col. Haugen earned the nickname "Hard Rock" derived from his stern discipline combined with respect and affection. This was a true tribute to his durability.
This is the content you placed in the article, bolded where copying is verbatim:
During vigorous training at Camp Mackall, NC , Col. Haugen earned the nickname Hard Rock Haugen derived from his stern discipline combined with respect and affection. This was a true tribute to his durability.
This differs from the source by one word.
The source says:
Captain Haugen was assigned as Commander of Company "A" of the 501st Parachute Battalion, the first tactical Parachute unit created by the War Department. He joined the unit on Nov. 16, 1940, in the morning, and that afternoon made his first parachute jump. The Major served as Battalion Commander, 502nd PIR, then Executive Officer, 505th PIR.
You placed this in the article:
Captain Haugen was assigned as Commander of Company "A" of the 501st Parachute Battalion on Nov. 16, 1940. This was the first tactical Parachute unit created by the War Department Major served as Battalion Commander, 502nd PIR, then Executive Officer, 505th PIR.
With one passage rearranged and the words "this was" added, this is little better.
You had been specifically advised how to avoid copyright issues of this sort a full year before.
An indefinite block is not a permanent block, but I do not believe you should be unblocked until and unless you can provide some plausible reason to believe that you understand our copyright policies and will stop violating them. I would recommend that you review Wikipedia:Copy-paste as well as the linked documents to better help you understand Wikipedia's approach to these concerns.
I have opened a contributor copyright investigation to invite others to evaluate the rest of your contributions. We need to ensure that any copied content or unlicensed translations are rewritten or removed; while efforts will be made to prevent the removal of content that is not copied, it is possible that some content will be misidentified.
If you are unblocked, you may be required to assist with this clean up in accordance with Wikipedia:Copyright violations as part of your terms of editing. Whether you are or are not required to assist, you will want to keep an eye on Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/Hauganm and its subpages, as you will not receive individual notifications of problems as you have above. Any problems detected will be noted there.
In the event that you are unblocked, I am removing both your reviewer and autopatrolled user rights. If you return to editing, we will need to be sure that you fully understand our copyright requirements before these are restored. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:21, 31 July 2011 (UTC)Nomination of Orin D. Haugen for deletion
editA discussion is taking place as to whether the article Orin D. Haugen is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Orin D. Haugen until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Clarityfiend (talk) 02:37, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
The article Marit Haugan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Non-notable. Only had one film role, unable to find any sources confirming notability.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Wizardman 17:34, 15 August 2021 (UTC)
