Bernardo Quintana Article

Hello! I have found a topic to write about, we and some classmates are writting about Bernardo Quintana Arrioja a mexican engineer who made many contributions to Mexico and Latin America. I would truly appreciate if you could help me with this so it wont be erased and to be a good article. Thank you! Natquintana (talk) 02:45, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I would like to clear something up, good articles are not made quickly and are usually older articles about 1 year old at the earliest. You can check out WP:AFC to write and submit your article there, then an experienced editor will come around and review it. If it is good it becomes an article and rarely gets deleted. Thanks.  JoeGazz  ▲  11:10, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Please, answer what do you think about the situation with the Jamaican Wikipedia here--Andrijko Z. (talk) 17:05, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Can you help?

At Wikipedia:WikiProject Resource Exchange/Resource Request#Hadji Ali there's a request that seems to cry out for a Wikipedian with a subscription to the Daily Gleaner. Might you be able to help? LeadSongDog come howl! 06:15, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

CutoffCutoff (physics) move

Hi, I am wondering why you went ahead and moved this article already. The request has only been open a few hours. Did you think it was uncontroversial? –CWenger (talk) 02:07, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

Yes, I actually did think so.  Hazard-SJ  ±  02:12, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
Well, can you close the move request then? I have never done it. –CWenger (talk) 02:16, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
I'm not sure how to close it

You RfA

I did support you in your RfA and I wish you good luck. however, you might need some more edits since you have less then 3000 edits across one year of experiance. –BuickCenturyDriver 19:02, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the support, but I will need support from more of the community.  Hazard-SJ  ±  19:09, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, doesn't look like you'll pass this time, the nomination already has 7 opposes. –BuickCenturyDriver 21:49, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
Might be worth withdrawing it, it looks really good at future RFAs if you can tell which way the wind is blowing. I am not going to formally oppose there but I think think you should take the opposes heart and see about doing follow up in another six months? I think you have great potential but I agree that WP:NOTNOW is perfectly applicable. The Resident Anthropologist (talk)•(contribs) 23:48, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Your RfA

I'm sorry to have to be the one to tell you, but I've closed your RfA as unsuccessful as the consensus at the RfA was that the nomination was premature. Those voters who supplied a useful rationale for their opinion seemed to feel, perhaps justly, that you would benefit from a little more experience before the community can be fully comfortable giving you the admin bit. My personal advice, as someone who fell flat on his face at his first RfA, is not to take it too hard and to brush yourself off and carry on being the productive editor that you are. Of course, experience in admin areas mixed with some helathy creation and improvement of content would stand you in good stead at a future RfA, but don't get fixated on pleasing RfA—do what you enjoy doing, and if that leads you to areas where you would have good use of a mop, give it six months (maybe a bit longer, but there's no hard-and-fast rule) and try again. Don't hesitate to get in touch if you need anything. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:09, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. I will use what I have seen to improve (which is why I didn't bother to close it myself). My spirits have only slightly fell, but I already know how hard I would have been judged (per other users' RfAs and what I have read).  Hazard-SJ  ±  00:58, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
Keep up the good work and I'm sure you'll gain more support on the next try. Just wait a few months. –BuickCenturyDriver 07:01, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the encouragement!  Hazard-SJ  ±  00:22, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
  A beer on me!
I'm sorry to see that you experienced the ever-brutal pack of wolves at RfA, at a time when they'd been starved of someone to rip apart for a little while. It was more down to quantity of contributions rather than quality. That is no bad thing at all, and you should take pride in the fact that you've been a very helpful and constructive Wikipedian. My advice? Sit back and relax with a pint or two, and then if you feel like it, resume your great editing. If not, then there's many more pints where this came from... ;) ;) ;) Orphan Wiki 11:09, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Hello, I posted a new notable alumni on the Tarporley High School Wikipedia page, but it was removed. I was wondering whether I did something wrong with my post? This is my first time posting to wikipedia and I would be greatful for any feedback / explanation on why the edit was removed. Thank you in advance. Vicsfanjunk (talk) 06:22, 7 May 2011 (UTC) (I think this is how I am supposed to sign these messages....)

Hello. Firstly, you only listed one person. This is inadequate for a section. Also, whether or not the person is notable, we have on verification, such as a reliable source.  Hazard-SJ  ±  02:45, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

Speedies

Hi, I've removed the speedies at Mohammed Nasserr and Mohammed Ali Ayed, as I believe both articles credibly assert notability. If you disagree, you could prod them or take them to AFD. Both needed links to the team (and a reference) to show notability, and I've let the article's creator know about this. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 04:38, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

I am okay with that.  Hazard-SJ  ±  23:19, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

Canadian Income Tax Edits

You accused me of making "unconstructive edits" and "vandalizing" a Wikipedia entry without backing up your claim. I would appreciate it if you would elaborate. --Iwoj (talk) 02:58, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

I sent you a talkback to the talk page, where there are comments waiting for you. You may have a good faith, but the edits are, according to WP:MOS and syntax, unconstructive.  Hazard-SJ  ±  03:00, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

Thank you, I am certainly editing in good faith. You've cited WP:MOS twice now, and have yet to respond to the question of what in the manual you are objecting to. I do not see anything in it that restricts my addition of spreadsheet formulae to the Canadian income tax page. --Iwoj (talk) 03:11, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

Please check Wikipedia:Manual of Style (accessibility). Your contribution would be confusion to many users. Spreadsheet formulas are not comprehended by the software.  Hazard-SJ  ±  04:35, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

Which part of the Manual of Style are you referring to? --Iwoj (talk) 05:41, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

Hello Mysterytrey. It is not possible to remove it from the blocklist, as you were not manually blocked by an admin, but rather, by recently added DNSBLs. However, we can overcome this problem. I could create an account for you, sending the password to your email. I will, however, need your email address to do so. You may choose to send me your email address via the Special:EmailUser/Hazard-SJ page here on Wikipedia. Thanks for the message. Yes, the email was private. I was about to attempt creation, but the "By email" feature seems to not be enabled there. I am therefore giving you two options:
  1. You create your own account on a more active and less restrictive test wiki, testwiki.org
    • OR
  2. I create the account to thetestwiki.org, filling in a random password myself, then manually emailing you the password.
I would, however, recommend the latter (last) one.  Hazard-SJ  ±  01:42, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

Why did Eagles 24/7 revert your talkback and then revert his revertion of your talkback (seen here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Mysterytrey&curid=32222347&diff=452289837&oldid=452289826?) Ohh, he added a timestamp, which was useless because your timestamp and signature was right under it. mysterytrey (talk) 03:34, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

I created the account while logged out. That is why i couldn't do it by email. Also, can you edit that wiki? If not, I'll have to make you an admin first.  Hazard-SJ  ±  03:47, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

I assumed when you said create an account for me youd do what you just did. If you want to you can delete this account, log in, and create another. http://www.thetestwiki.org/w/index.php?title=Is_this_page_a_test%3F&oldid=2711 edit and create new pages. PS plainlinks is hard to do on your talk page. BTW I will request for adminship soon.mysterytrey (talk) 04:12, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
Okay. The DNSBLs only work for IPs, not users, it seems. As for plainlinks, <span class="plainlinks">link</span> is the format.  Hazard-SJ  ±  04:23, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
Ohh. I used to use it as {{plainlinks|google.com|Yes, google!}} http://www.thetestwiki.org/w/index.php?title=Is_this_page_a_test%3F&oldid=2711 So, where would I put the title? mysterytrey (talk) 04:42, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
You can use <span class="plainlinks>[LINK TITLE]</span>, for example, The English Wikipedia.  Hazard-SJ  ±  04:47, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

Speedy category renaming

Hi there! Your work at Categories for discussion/Speedy is appreciated. However, you shouldn't rename categories before a full 48 hours has passed, and you also need to use the process through WP:Categories for discussion/Working, which has Cydebot perform the moves while maintaining attribution for the categories in question - there is an existing bot that does this work. I have stopped the bot pending resolution of this - please discuss at WT:CFD - The Bushranger One ping only 20:36, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

What's going on with {{Infobox reservoir}}? This page which had a perfectly good infobox has been turned into this, where the infobox is now completely useless. --Redrose64 (talk) 13:48, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

subst-ing templates

Please do not subst the {{Infobox Indian jurisdiction}} template as you did at Mysore and Mhow. Substing the template make it very difficult to update the information in the template and means that future improvements to the template will not be reflected in the article. —Stepheng3 (talk) 23:46, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

WikiProject banners

Hi, when adding WikiProject banners to talk pages, please put them inside any {{WikiProjectBannerShell}} or {{WikiProjectBanners}} that may already be on the page, and also put the new banner on a separate line. It's best if the new project banner goes at the bottom of the existing stack of banners as well, just in case there are any already there which must be first (such as {{WikiProject Biography}}). See your edit and my fix. --Redrose64 (talk) 11:44, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

Substing Template:Infobox Indian jurisdiction

I'm trying to figure out why the bot did this. It makes editing close to impossible, ruining future update efforts. Is there some consensus I missed? The delete result was dependent on merging into Template:Infobox settlement, which did not occur yet. --Muhandes (talk) 16:47, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

I apologize for that error. That was a trial edit, so that is okay.  Hazard-SJ  ㋡  19:42, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
