Tags at Queer

edit

Heliostellar, I really think you overdid it with the tags at Queer. For example, you tagged "umbrella term" with an original research tag. Do you really believe that this is a case of "material—such as facts, allegations, and ideas—for which no reliable, published source exists"? If so, I encourage you to state why at the talk page. I'm only bringing it up here because I see it as a conduct issue—over-tagging is disruptive—and I didn't want to bog down the talk page with conduct talk. Maybe you should check the actual citations... the cites for that line directly contradict the use of the term as an umbrella term. It is a conduct issue when people misstate what's in the source material and directly contradict it. In fact, this article keeps reverted to speaking from the POV of someone who has "reclaimed" the word, even though that is a highly controversial position. Neither you nor any other Wiki user gets to decide how the entire LGBTQ community identifies.Heliostellar (talk) 14:59, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Of course not, and I wouldn't presume to! I do think we can neutrally describe how the word is applied. Do you think someone has engaged in the conduct issue you describe ("misstate what's in the source material")? If so, of the two cited sources, which is being misstated and contradicted, and what statements in the source are implicated? If you'd like to frame it as a content issue instead of a conduct one, answers to those questions would be very welcome at the article talk page. You are the one talking conduct, my friend. You might not like that I have sources that disagree with you, but you and other editors completely overrode my changes--including removing tags--without addressing any of my real concerns. Please consult my response on the Talk page. Heliostellar (talk) 15:44, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Your recent editing history at Queer shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. An edit war? You took down my tags without addressing the talk page. You are the one violating the rules. Heliostellar (talk) 00:05, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
