A tag has been placed on Blockout II, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.
If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. MarašmusïneTalk 13:16, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
As stated above, it was written like an advertisement. ("Blockout II is the one of the best 3D Tetris Blockout Clone currently available.") It also did not cite any independent sources to show the game's notability. As far as other articles that may need to be deleted, see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. NawlinWiki 14:05, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Blockout II
editJust because it is an open source does not mean it is not advertisable. And pointing to other articles does not help either because anyone could have had created it. Anyways, to have an article here, you need to show its notable (number of players may be?) and present all information in a neutral (never promotional) tone. As for the article, it can be retrieved. --soum talk 14:03, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- The notability guide for software used to be Wikipedia:Notability (software), but is now Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) (as software is a 'product'). MarašmusïneTalk 14:05, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
herc:
thanks for answering, i will try again in a more neutral tone.
but this game is in fact the best blockout clone, and in fact the only one having an online highscore list with replay feature. it was hard work by jean luc and of course i want to let the world know that FINALLY there is at least one playable blockout clone.
you know, there are lots of attemts to make such a clone, but almost all failed. there is blockout resurrection, blockout millenium and much more. but none of them recreate the quality of the old DOS blockout from 1989, but Blockout II does.
so i really see a point in adding a subpage to blockout here, as it was a huge effort to bring that freeware game back on modern computers.
- Pharases like "one of the best" and "really great game" tend to lead to an articel being seen as advertising, they are opnion, not fact. include didtions to published reviews or other independant sources, if posisble, this will help the article. DES (talk) 16:22, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
