Can I request permission to edit WP:AIV as part of my Recent Changes Patrol 'duties'? It gets a pain when there's an obvious vandal and I can't report it. By the way, I am sending this to all the others, too, just in case you're not around. Auroranorth 12:49, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm probably going to run this one thru FAC some stage soonish (I had intended to work it up and do it at the same time as B ericifolia but didn't 'feel right' at the time. Have left it for a bit and it looks in not bad nic at all really..(obviously not ready quite yet but not hugely far off neither....)....cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 07:05, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

The collection news is interesting, I've been reading how illustrations were used as well. On that subject: I'm interested alright, are you proposing to liberate the work? There is very little of their art around. On the subject of specimens yadda yadda, the articles need enhancing and reconciling IMhO, I tagged one today - WP:TOL? Hi there,
Why are you interfering with my desire to contact some wikipedians in my home town who have expressed a desire to network and communicate with others? It seems pretty strange and I'm not sure why you're doing this?
As I have already pointed out, it's not spam and nor is it unsolicited, my communication direct to them (and not you) doesn't seem to be a matter for your involvement?
Cheers, Paul Puttenhoe wiki 02:46, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
What exactly is your problem? Power trip admin? I will contest any block, I have done nothing wrong, and will continue to seek out contact with local wikipedians. Have you looked at the article for the Australian band recently? You didn't add sources, Ziggy didn't add sources, I didn't add them, no one did. But we are protecting the article why again? So easy to destroy, and so hard to create.
If you want a reason for the AfD, how about to promote a better understanding between contributors - creators of information, and deletionist like Ziggy? But did that happen? Deleting the one article helps the encyclopedia as much as deleting the other.
See this link: http://www.punknews.org/review/4657 See your quote: "Verifiable by recourse to an independent third party source, which is considered reliable and reputable within the Australian heavy metal music subculture... That's all the notability guideline requires."
Are we going to be leaving a message for Ziggy too? Nanabozho 07:48, 9 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

- Seems likely. Can't see that though - it's OR. All I can say is something wishy-washy like "the name Parrot Bush was in use by Gardner as early as 1959", which is vague enough that it can't possibly be wrong even if I am. Hesperian 13:30, 11 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

[expletive deleted] Other than that I am speechless! That he is described as unsurpassed, until Rosser's illustrations, is without doubt! You know I want all of them, but Alyogyne hakeifolia is one that jumps out. I see it was not published until 1863, it would be interesting to note that. I will have to check the background, but I think that pdf explains how and why. Cygnis insignis 07:01, 11 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm not ignoring you - I got two messages on my talk page at once and only thought I had got one. Yours was the first message so I overlooked it. That addition to the mabo page was only meant to be a test and not a permanent edit. I must have forgotten to take it back. I was keeping the template's contents in case there was an appropriate way to put it back in the future. JRG 03:18, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
- Well, I was wrong to go trying to put it into an article at that stage - it could easily have been a WP:POINT disruption, considering that I strongly opposed the deletion of the template. I won't do that sort of thing again. JRG 03:33, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you drop a reply on Pedro's neutral vote to tell how you came across my RfA before it was transcluded? Lara❤Love 17:15, 3 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
As you know, User:GlassCobra just compared Lara to a racist in her RfA (see [2]). I find this comment highly offensive and, since it just occurred within the last few hours, feel it should be considered by editors before GlassCobra's RfA is closed at the end of the day at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/GlassCobra. As such, I have requested a delay in the closing of Cobra's RfA. Since you've been involved in this discussion over so-called ageism, I'd also suggest you voice your opinion on Cobra's RfA. In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
On Remembrance Day (or Armistice Day - Veterans Day in the US) we remember those soldiers who sacrificed their lives so their countries could live in freedom. We use poppies to remember the blood shed by soldiers in Flanders Fields, a major European battleground. The poem In Flanders Fields was written during World War I but Remembrance Day commemorates all lives lost to war, especially after the first of the World Wars. The observance is not to glorify war but to remember those who suffered. Very few people remained untouched by the effects of World War I.
Memorial services held today often include the Ode of Remembrance. The ode finishes with these words:
We will remember them.
