Squad list

edit

Please respect the WP:BRD process and don't add the squad list again. For the third time, I would recommend you raise this at WT:FOOTY if you are really insistent on wanting it included. Thanks, Number 57 15:17, 27 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

A few editing tips

edit

If you are going to stick around, a few tips on editing:

  • Dates should be written in the format "5 November 2017"; "5th" etc should not be used (see WP:MOSDATE)
  • Scorelines and seasons should be written using a long dash (–) not a hyphen (-), e.g. 2016–17, 5–1 not 2016-17 or 5-1
  • Wikipedia is an encylopedia and should use appropriate language. Phrases like "managed to sneak a late equaliser", "Thanks to a heroic effort", "A superb game for a neutral" are not appropriate.
  • Because Wikipedia is an encylopedia, it should give equal weight to similar events. Your recent addition of a huge paragraph on the 2017–18 FA Cup run meant that the article was completely unbalanced – this is an issue of what is called WP:RECENTISM (focusing on recent events). You should give the same weight to this year's achievement that is given to the previous occasions the club reached the first round.

@HeybridgeSwiftUltra:, although you have had your disagreements with N57, I would urge you to nonetheless take note of his constructive points above, especially the third. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and needs to maintain a neutral tone, so try and write in that way and not as if you were writing for the club's own website or something like that. Good luck and happy editing! Feel free to drop a note on my talk page if you need any more tips or assistance :-) -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 09:49, 29 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi, you need to cite sources when adding flags to players' nationalities in infoboxes otherwise this constitutes original research. Thanks, --Jimbo[online] 22:34, 27 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

But how on earth am I meant to do that --Jimbo[online] when these are non-league players. Do you really expect them to have pages upon pages of info about them on the internet, NO. Why? Because they're normal people who only those close to them know a lot about them. And besides the point, I know each individuals nationality because I support the club for crying out loud. I like how this has taken you around 3 months to address this 'issue' as well.

Yes, unfortunately you need to cite sources otherwise it's speculative at best. I fully understand, I've been creating and editing pages on non-League football subjects for a while. Thanks, --Jimbo[online] 18:50, 28 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
So --Jimbo[online], how do I add these infoboxes with info of the players to validate each players nationality without ruining the neat layout? Many thanks.

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Ahmed Abdulla, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Egghead06 (talk) 17:19, 26 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Lewis Dark. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Mattythewhite (talk) 16:25, 10 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

So how on earth am I meant to source it Mattythewhite. It's plainly stated in the Heybridge Swifts section of Dark's page that he has made 100 appearances for the club, with a source sited on it. And the fact that I work with the club means that I fully well know that Lewis has made 100 appearances for the club. Any help sorting this situation out is much appreciated, and being ignored is not an option. Many thanks, HeybridgeSwiftUltra

The source that states he has made 100 appearances obviously doesn't account for appearances made *afterwards*, though. Also, the infobox accounts for league figures only. Mattythewhite (talk) 23:08, 10 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Joan Luque, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. GiantSnowman 11:24, 31 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

It is impossible to site the statistics that Joan Luque accomplished during his time with Heybridge Swifts, as the statistics that were recorded on the website www.footballwebpages.co.uk last season, have been wiped, as the new season has begun. I recorded his accomplishments a couple of weeks after the 2017/18 season had finished on an email, so that I had the exact amount of appearances and goals that he scored for Heybridge Swifts, in preparation for his move to the football league.

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at Joan Luque. GiantSnowman 12:13, 31 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

I like how you didn't reply to my point properly, but fine. I wont do it again, just wanted to contribute to the page with some information on this particular player that I gathered from roughly 70 Heybridge Swifts games last season. That is 100% valid and true. If you wish to ask the club themselves about these statistics, or even the club historian Chris Daines, be my guest. But for now, afternoon sir.
