Subject's name in H. A. Hellyer
editHallo, I think you'll have seen that I have done a substantial amount of work to attempt to save H. A. Hellyer, including looking up and checking many of the facts and adding citations, without which the article would undoubtedly be deleted in the AfD process it is now going through.
I note that you have reverted my apparently correctly cited edit to the article listing the subject's name, on the grounds that the book was withdrawn from publication. However it is extremely unlikely that the citation is wrong about Hellyer's forenames, as this was a title listed for publication and the publisher would certainly have obtained the correct names for contract purposes. Therefore this should be a reliable source. Since it is usual for articles on people to state their full names, I would like to propose reinstating them. Please let me know your thoughts on the matter so that we can agree the way ahead. with best wishes Chiswick Chap (talk) 13:28, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hi there, Chiswick Chap! I'm not sure if I am doing this right, as I've never done a 'chat' like this before :-) But here goes: the book does not seem to have been withdrawn from publication, but, rather was never published. There's no record anywhere of IB Tauris ever publishing this book with this title or with this author. These seller websites do exist, obviously, but no book (and I saw on the sites that it was supposedly published 2006?) Since there's no actual book that was ever published with an author with this name, and all these other websites seem to show just H.A. Hellyer, I think there's probably more grounds for just leaving it as H.A. Hellyer. I reckon that if the article does survive, there will be other sources in the public domain that show definitively what H.A. stands for, and we can just go and do it then? What do you think?
Thanks for reaching out like this --- I've never engaged with wikipedia like this before, and you've made my first real interaction very pleasant indeed! (talk) 6 March 2012
- My pleasure, Wikipedia should be a place of intelligently encyclopedic discussion, which is isn't always. OK, I'll leave it at least until the AfD process is completed. Chiswick Chap (talk) 10:21, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
