Disambiguation pages

edit

Please note that disambiguation pages like Mari are meant to help readers find a specific existing article quickly and easily. For that reason, they have guidelines that are different from articles. From the Wikipedia:Disambiguation dos and don'ts you should:

  • Only list articles that readers might reasonably be looking for
  • Use short sentence fragment descriptions, with no punctuation at the end
  • Use exactly one navigable link ("blue link") in each entry that mentions the title being disambiguated
  • Only add a "red link" if used in existing articles, and include a "blue link" to an appropriate article
  • Do not pipe links (unless style requires it) – keep the full title of the article visible
  • Do not insert external links or references - Wikipedia is not a business directory

Thank you. Leschnei (talk) 23:06, 23 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hiyaitsvanessa, you restored the disambiguation page link that Leschnei mentioned above. Please take some time to learn the ropes here before redoing your edits over the objections of experienced users. Firefangledfeathers (talk) 20:34, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Minor edits

edit

Hi Hiyaitsvanessa! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. why is it reverted? I would like to know since I am new and learning. But I have read the guidelines and im still not understanding --Hiyaitsvanessa (talk) 22:43, 24 August 2021 (UTC)`Reply

Hello, I'm Firefangledfeathers. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Mayo Clinic have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Firefangledfeathers (talk) 20:34, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Reverted three times. Stop adding it. David notMD (talk) 22:36, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Mayo Clinic. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose their editing privileges on that page. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to result in loss of your editing privileges. Thank you. Firefangledfeathers (talk) 22:51, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

ok sorry about that. I did not mean to as i said i was simply trying to learn how to edit a page. I did that one randomly but it kept saying reverted. Do you mind explaining in a simple way why it keeps getting reverted. Is it my citations? the way i am describing it? Because i added a recent thing on there that was not there before. So i am wondering what is my issue so i can fix it for writing my own article. Sorry about any incovenience as i said i am learning Hiyaitsvanessa (talk) 22:54, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
The best path if reverted is to start a discussion on the Talk page of the article. The worst path is to revert the revert. In specific answer to your question, the first ref is th Mayo Clinic, the second is SSMC. These are considered primary references - the organizations publishing content about themselves. What is required is secondary references - content written by people not connected to Mayo or SSMC or SEHA. David notMD (talk) 01:30, 25 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did at Medical diagnosis, you may be blocked from editing. Zefr (talk) 21:39, 30 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

(edit conflict)

There is general advice for how to go about this at your first article.
Creating a new article from scratch is one of the hardest tasks you could choose for yourself as a new editor on Wikipedia. It's possible you will get to your goal faster by spending considerable time improving existing articles before you try creating a new one.
To avoid frustration, you will want to familiarize yourself with the concept of notability and the sorts of references you will need to have in hand to be successful with your addition. Find the references first, before you begin to write. Then, write by summarizing only what those references say. Do not copy. Do not rely on anything the doctor has written or been recorded as saying. Be careful to avoid press releases.
Yes, some of these things may seem counterintuitive to you.
When you are ready to start, use the Article Wizard. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 22:46, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
A fast search yielded no references that would support an article about Pooya Khan Mohammad Beigi. David notMD (talk) 01:33, 25 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Odd messages

edit

Hiyaitsvanessa, above, you have repeatedly posted messages saying "Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time." I don't know why you'd tell yourself this. If I, on your user talk page, say "you", it means you, Hiyaitsvanessa. If, by contrast, you start a new thread on your user talk page by talking about "you", this will be interpreted as you talking to yourself. If by contrast you want to address somebody else, then you'll have to name and ping that person. -- Hoary (talk) 02:30, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Do you have any connection to MARI?

edit

The nature of your editing gives the impression that you may have some personal or professional connection to the organization about which you are editing (MARI).
Hello, Hiyaitsvanessa. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.--Quisqualis (talk) 07:07, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

I don’t have a connection with MARI. Unfortunately I am trying to write about something that does not have a Wikipedia page but it is difficult to cite and therefore I have been in contact in the Wikipedia help page and following their guidelines and instructions. When I tried editing for other medical organizations I also got it reverted. So I stopped editing their page. Hiyaitsvanessa (talk) 08:37, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

It is not fair for you to assume that I have a connection. I am simply trying to write it but editors keep reverting it when I am following guidelines and saying nothing of promotion Hiyaitsvanessa (talk) 08:38, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Draft:Mari Misdiagnosis Association and Research Institute does not have multiple significant references

edit

This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of organizations and companies). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 09:57, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Vanessa, thanks for your edits there. However, please do not remove non-breaking spaces (containing nbsp in the wiki-markup), as they have special functions in Wikipedia. This may be a problem with VisualEditor and honestly they're relatively rare in medical articles, but I thought I'd let you know anyway. Graham87 19:14, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
