Orphaned non-free image File:Folkstreams Logo.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Folkstreams Logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions. If you have questions, please post them here.
  • I will automatically remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.
  • To opt out of these bot messages, add {{bots|deny=DASHBot}} to your talk page.
  • If you believe the bot has made an error, please ask an admin to turn it off here.

This is an irritating Catch-22 that has caught me too: you want a logo for an article that is pending creation to make it acceptable but can't upload it until the article is accepted. Please don't be discouraged - link it in the article first (the link will be red but don't worry) - then upload it again. All will be well in the end. Mcewan (talk) 17:24, 7 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Re your request for help on my Talk page. As you have noticed, Wikipedia editors when reviewing new articles need to see (1) the information in the article is verifiable (2) the subject is notable enough for Wikipedia, with independent, reliable sources that talk about the subject. One source alone will rarely be enough to prove the subject is widely known. All the same, I did a quick Google search for "tom davenport" and "Folkstreams" and found some sources that may help - there's a page by Alabama Arts Radio which generally describes Folkstreams (and that there's been a radio programme about it); there's an 'article' by NPR (a news source that distributes to radio stations) which might be strong enough to count towards verification and 'notability'. Try adding those to your article and maybe a reviewer will look on it favourably. All the best! Sionk (talk) 18:06, 22 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hi! Thanks for your advice from before - is there any way you could look at the page without me submitting it for review again, just to see if I'm on the right track? Thanks for any help!Holl!12 (talk) 18:58, 29 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hi. I'm starting to review this article and it looks promising. Bear with me as I am quite new at this type of review. Also please ignore the 'do not edit' warning in the 'review in progress' banner. If you can continue to improve it, please do so! Thanks Mcewan (talk) 16:08, 7 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Folkstreams, which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.

You are more than welcome to continue making quality contributions to Wikipedia. Note that because you are a logged-in user, you can create articles yourself, and don't have to post a request. However, you are more than welcome to continue submitting work to Articles for Creation.

Thank you for helping improve Wikipedia!

Let me just add it was a pleasure to help with this. Looks like a really worthwhile project. There is plenty more that can be done to improve the article of course - in particular a search show that there are plenty of Wikipedia articles referencing Folkstreams that could be wikilinked.
