No content in Category:Runic studies articles

Some more background: I had written this comment: "OK, Deacon has made his intentions, agenda and modus operandi clear enough in above comment and also here: User:Deacon of Pndapetzim/How to win a revert war. I'm not interested in playing these sort of games, so I'm out of here."

And just to show me his modus operandi even better, he went in and deleted most of my comment. I consider his behaviour very rude and dishonourable. Hollinger (talk) 23:48, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Hello Hollinger, I am sorry that you have had such a rough start here on Wikipedia. The best one can do is to behave according to policy; calm, unbiased and civil. It would be a great shame if we lost a good contributor due to a low-life discussion like this. If you are stressed by the discussion, leave it for a week or so, and return with new courage and arguments. Brokkr / Brokk movement

Hello,

I moved the articles and corrected the names based on research done using Google's book archive. The only instance I found of Brokkr being spelled with an r (vs. Brokk) was on that wikipedia page, which then resulted in 5-6 other web sites having incorrect information. Could you please site your source for Brokkr versus Brokk? The source you listed does not actually lead to a print edition book that reinforces your spelling. Thanks! WPAGS template

Unfortunately, the template is now revised to use the Meta template model, which I didn't design and, unfortunately, haven't been able to make work properly to remove the Runes importance parameters. I'm leaving a comment on the talk page of the Meta banner page hoping that someone there who knows that template can do it. Sorry for not doing so earlier, but I just tried to revise the bloody thing and the revisions didn't seem to accomplish much. I'm hoping someone on the meta page can do more than I can with it. Wimmer (Freilaubersheim Fibula)

Thanks for the note! The work I was referring to is De Tyske Runenmindesmaerker from 1894. You can find it online here. The section on the fibula begins on pg. 51 (page n58 in the reader) and goes until pg. 66 (n73). Apparently, the original images were not scanned in with the text, but I have two images you can view in my workspace where I'm keeping my notes while I write (the first of those two is probably the same one that appeared in Wimmer's work). What I'm particularly interested in is anything pertinent to (a) the conditions of the find, (b) the reading of the inscription, including (c) anything related to the grammar of the reading. Also, if Wimmer discusses the earlier findings of other researchers (such as Rieger), I'd be interested in knowing what he says.

Valkyrie comments and copy edit

Hi, I noticed you asked for copy edit on Valkyrie (as user Holt?). I'm a sometime professional editor. Instead of a copy edit, I suggest rewriting the opening paragraphs. (The later ones are perhaps overly detailed, but to the point.) It's what articles of TV and comic books often get tagged with: being too "in world". That is, if the reader is familiar with the subject, it's comprehensible. If they are not, the opening paragraphs wander all over the place without making definitive statements. Phrases such as "sometimes accompanied by ravens, and sometimes connected to swans" are more confusing than helpful. That is to say ... what are the ravens and swans doing with the valkyrie? Are they decoration, or do they have a function? If valkyrie is a "fuzzy" term, then the article should embrace the fuzziness directly, along the lines of "Valkyries are fictional female characters originating in Norse mythology who have played various roles in literature since the 13th century. Examples include...."

As for your request for a copy edit, I'll make a couple dozen changes as examples. They will focus on extraneous language. They don't represent a complete copy edit, but suggest a general direction.
