Floods

Yes. The history on that page is written in summary form and it omits specific details not essential to the city's development. The same can be added in the History of Mumbai as it is a dedicated article on the city's history. The event though, finds a mention under ==Climate==. Technocracy related articles

Hi, I see that you've recently been redirecting all references to Technocracy or Technocrats to the Technocracy (bureaucratic) article. I really wish you hadn't done that, because several of the redirects you did were wrong. Firstly, the articles relating to the Technocracy movement, are not meant to be linked to the bureaucratic article (for a list of all the articles I'm talking about see here [1]). There are some sort-of, complicated reasons for this, but basically, it's not a good idea to link them. Secondly you've redirected loads of links from things like Technocrat or Technocrats to the Technocracy (bureaucratic) article, yet there is already an article dealing with the term, see Technocrat (derogatory). That article might be a better redirect for some of the cases than the bureaucratic one. Anyway, like I said, I think a lot of those redirects are not very good, and it will take me some time to correct all of them on the Technocracy Movement articles, let alone all the rest. I realise that many of the links on the articles were not that good and sometimes superfluous, like when an article links to both Technocracy Movement and Technocracy, but the main reason for this is that the articles have been changed and renamed so many times that the old edits don't make much sense. Italics for military operations

See "List of World War II military operations" for example. Military operation names are italicised, & this has nothing to do with them being foreign. Its very similar to ship names. But although I am sure I saw this in Wikipedia I can't now find it, so apparently there is no direction given. Appreciate your comment on the article above. GrahamBould 10:49, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

printing press

I appreciate your assistance in removing unsourced material. I reverted to an earlier stable version-- --if I have lost any of your improvements-- I'm not sure about the china/.Chinese one in particular, just please put them back. I believe that is some evidence for the Korean origin of a printing press, tho, & I'll put it in later. You may note there is a long history of difficult balance in this and related articles, between those who think the chinese invented nothing, or invented everything. the solution has been to move the East Asian material into the separate History of typography in East Asia article. Major upset

How does a "major" upset is different from a "minor" upset? Who determines which upsets are major, which are minor and which just aren't upsets at all? What set of criteria are used? How can we, as Wikipedia editors, try and be more objective and separate a news report's point of view from a set of basic facts? Does it even matter if the upset was major or minor or even an upset at all; is it encyclopedically relevant? Can't we just let the facts speak for themselves? If so and so was a favourite to win, and someone else beat them, why can't we leave it up to the reader to decide if there was an upset and, if so, to what degree? Red Kangaroo

I would like to list my reasons as to why I think that your latest edit of the Red Kangaroo was a negative. Firstly I would have thought that the most important and relevant fact pertaining to relationships with humans was that it is under protective legislation. I like the use of 'still' as it implies, correctly, that most marsupial wildlife as suffered under European colonisation. What is more removal of both 'still' and the legislation element gives the false impression that the red kangaroo did not initially suffer negatively from European settlement. Right away in the first paragraph it is mentioned that the kangaroo is shot as a pest by farmers. Without the initial explanation of the legislative protection the statement that the farmers need a permit to legally do so appears odd, isolated and posing questions. Why then move the offending sentence to an even more unsuitable position. The protection that the kangaroo enjoys is not because of the commercial interest, instead the commercial interest grew out of the kangaroo being shot as a pest. If you believe that the commercial section requires prior knowledge that the kangaroo is protected, then why not put it before the being shot as a pest section instead. The commercial section is a sub-section of the Relationship with humans section and so the reader would naturally be obliged to read the section from its start. I am also disturbed that on the first occasion of the editing you didn't bother providing a reason for the edit, despite that fact that the original section has been long standing with previous editors having put thought into it. I am even more disturbed that you simply reverted my reversion without comment despite my request that you discuss this. How do you justify your actions. On Superblooms

Hi, Hongooi, I see you have twice now replaced the "Worldwide" tag on the article Superbloom without any edit summary. I understand your intent in placing the tag, as you feel the subject is phrased as a worldwide phenomenon but is only discussed in terms of the US state of California. I have tried to make clear in the article that the term "superbloom" only appears to have been used when describing the phenomenon in California (probably also applies to Nevada, since the desert climate of the two states seems to be connected, though I have never seen or read of anyone using the word "superbloom" to refer to a desert event in Nevada). I am going to go ahead and remove the tag a third time, and ask you to please engage me here on your talk page before replacing it, ok? I am not saying you are "wrong" here for placing it, I am only saying, "Let's talk about it before you put it back", because discussion can be very important when it comes to changes on Wikipedia!
