Cage

You know, while I think I never fully expanded a MK character, I think Cage's article could be benefitted from a larger lead per wp:lead. At least that's what I did with Jin Kazama and other characters from Tekken in order to turn them into GA (curiously Uker helped me in those). Similar to Jin or Kyo Kusanagi, you could explore areas of the character through different paragraphs like for example: 1. His portayal in the games (maybe a bit of narrative) 2. His moves 3. His role in other media (liveactions or comics) 4. Other stuff you find common. At least that's what I remember doing when writing character articles. Anyways, good luck with the GA nomination.Tintor2 (talk) 21:24, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

Hello there! Among the new characters in the game, four characters have a very significant influence on the plot. we conducted surveys on many resources and they won. They are: Kotal Kahn, Fujin, Erron Black and Kronika. Please create separate articles about them, as these characters are really very significant. 猫 シ Corp.

I've recently recreated Cat System Corp., which you had previously nominated for deletion. I believe the article is in good shape now, and actually demonstrates notability, but do you think it can be considered a quality B-class article? Also, I'm considering creating an article for Luxury Elite, the vaporqueen, but I'm not sure she's notable. Working on it here for now. Wetrorave please don't 19 April 2022 01:05, 19 April 2022 (UTC)

Hi there, Wetrowave. I don't think it qualifies as such right now as the article currently sounds promotional in tone, with citations therein predominantly Bandcamp and YouTube and student newspapers, while heavy on artist quotations that bloat the article (does his opinion on the pandemic honestly matter?). There's no need to sound the notability alarm just yet, but it's still lacking as there is no independent third-party coverage of the subject in the article at this time. Praise by Bandcamp means nothing as it's expressly a promotional medium for musicians. (Everywhere At the End of Time is the opposite in regards to critical acclaim and even [ugh] TikTok challenges. I'm legit impressed that it's an FA.) Thanks for reaching out. sixtynine • whaddya want? • 07:22, 19 April 2022 (UTC)
Hi again, user with funny number name.
Where exactly is the article promotional in tone? I'm legitimately willing to modify it if you can suggest me how. One article I can think of that fits the "promotional" label is Auslogics Disk Defrag, and in fact, much of the prose here was written taking other GAs and FAs in mind, such as Ariel Pink and Michael Jackson.
As for citations, many of these student sources came from The Wikipedia Library; Wikipedia itself decided to give us these sources to use, so I can't see how they're unreliable. Yes, Bandcamp is a WP:SPS source but there's a small detail: they are Bandcamp Daily specifically, which is a reliable website to use in articles and to demonstrate notability – if they really were unfounded promotion of independent musicians, they'd be promoting among us trap remix. YouTube sources are WP:ABOUTSELF, and most (admittedly not all) scholar sources meet WP:SCHOLAR criteria. The Early life content about 9/11 is worthy of inclusion, as it inspired Elzinga to produce vaporwave (which is exactly what makes him notable in the first place). If you find that some of it perhaps doesn't meet Wikipedia's content policies, fix the problem.
As for independent third-party coverage, [1] [2] [3] [4]. Not to invoke WP:LIKE but I really do think that Cat System Corp. is a notable subject based on what I have researched about him. I completely agree about the article using too many interviews upon re-reading it, so I'll work on that, and I've removed WP:PUFF words now. And if the article does end up getting deleted, can we at least maintain the "Palm Mall" upload and leave it in the mallsoft article? Wetrorave please don't 19 April 2022 21:28, 19 April 2022 (UTC)

Help me!

Please help me with... I would like to combine Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms and Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge into a single article titled Mortal Kombat Legends. Both films' articles are almost entirely plot summary, with out-of-universe content containing banal trivia such as cartoon characters used in the Warner Bros. logo, and one third-party reception link (Rotten Tomatoes) in both articles combined. Meanwhile, the third entry in the series, Snow Blind, doesn't even have an article. Mortal Kombat articles

Hi there! I have no idea why we're on this topic, but Mortal Kombat articles are mostly bad right now. Do you think Stryker (Mortal Kombat) is fine? GlatorNator (talk) 06:43, 19 March 2023 (UTC)

@GlatorNator: It's possible, but unlikely as he hasn't been playable in over a decade (!). I'll search for more viable reception (lack of which is why I just nominated Kabal). I received notification about Baraka and Shinnok being up for deletion, which is why I have arisen. :) sixtynine • whaddya want? • 06:56, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
Shockingly, there are still a lot of other MK characters are failing notability. Goro (Mortal Kombat), Quan Chi, Jax (Mortal Kombat), Raiden (probs, I only found one that talks about him but only in Mortal Kombat X) and Sonya Blade (only this source I could find to her [5]. I wouldnt nominate them yet, maybe one by one after each of the nomination has been closed. GlatorNator (talk) 12:58, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
Oh, come on now. Are we really questioning the notability on the likes of Raiden, Sonya and Jax? GlatorNator, I think you are really jumping the gun here. MoonJet (talk) 04:48, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
lol. Everyone are entitled to think if they're notable or not. GlatorNator (talk) 04:57, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
The thing is, with a character as iconic as Raiden or Sonya, they should be pretty much immune to a merge by default. Even if you haven't found much, they are almost certainly out there. I found some on Sonya on just a quick search. MoonJet (talk) 05:05, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
Iconic? nah. Johnny Cage and Kitana are. Raiden might have a chance, but its not yet guarantee if it will be sent to afd. We're not the only one here sending for deletion, but probably also Zxcvbnm and others. GlatorNator (talk) 10:37, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
There's not really such thing as "immune to a merge" unless an article has been improved to the point it quite obviously doesn't require merging. A poor article can absolutely be merged simply because it's not fit for an article yet. AfD would not be the right venue though, a pure merge discussion would be better.
Right now, regardless of Raiden's notability, it needs a merge. Per WP:SPLIT, if notability can be shown in the list it can always be split off again. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 10:56, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
I do agree that Raiden's article needs a clean up. But that doesn't mean it should be merged. See WP:POTENTIAL. MoonJet (talk) 11:35, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

Final question about MK article

Hi there. Is Jax (Mortal Kombat) notable just because of his controversy? Which has 3 sources [6] [7] [8]. GlatorNator () 11:31, 9 April 2023 (UTC)

Hey. I wasn't aware such a hubbub over his MK11 ending even existed, but judging by the sources above it does give him a lifeline in terms of notability, certainly enough to allow time to search in-depth for other sources (I just removed a bunch of nonviable ones from the article), as he's not as much a black-and-white case as Goro or Noob Saibot. sixtynine • whaddya want? • 18:20, 9 April 2023 (UTC)
Sorry for butting in but there might be a bit considering he is the protagonist of a spinoff of the series that might be discussed by the media. In a small search I found this, this, this and this. About the Tekken character list. Wouldn't be better to remove that table? It really feels like undue weight considering every character has mentions of themselves in their sections.Tintor2 (talk) 00:18, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
No the character table is fine many articles used it and it's also helpful for those who are new to the series like which character appear in which game so they would gain some knowledge besides introduced in sections. Many articles used character table like many for example: List of Street Fighter characters, List of Soulcalibur characters, List of Virtua Fighter characters, List of Darkstalkers characters and even List of Resident Evil characters. So I don't think removing character table is a right choice. 103.120.117.110 (talk) 02:34, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
@Tintor2: Yeah, I took a look in there and the page is damn confusing. The tables definitely are one reason why. We had a table in the MK character article but it ended up cluttering the page as it was expanded after every new game, and it was removed as a result. sixtynine • whaddya want? • 03:23, 17 April 2023 (UTC)

Character table in Mortal Kombat

Can we have a character table in Mortal Kombat character list for each Introduced in sections like Guest characters section have a character table and other sections don't have so it's looks incomplete. 103.120.117.127 (talk) 16:22, 21 April 2023 (UTC)

Hi. We actually did have a main MK character table several years ago, but it was removed due to almost nonstop editing conflicts plus it was decided after a discussion that it added undue weight to the article. Case in point, the cluster[blank] that is the Tekken character page. sixtynine • whaddya want? • 06:00, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
Not just Tekken other articles also use character table and if you think that character table clutters the page then this design [1] would be fine. 103.120.117.127 (talk) 09:18, 22 April 2023 (UTC)

Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. I've been editing on Wikipedia a long time while you've been here for all of three weeks. I am fully aware what unconstructive editing is despite this misplaced copy-pasted warning. So far there is nothing demonstrating the notability of Pat Casey, and you're reverting my edits only because you created the article. This is edit warring, which is not allowed on Wikipedia and needs to stop, or you will be reported. Lastly, please stop spamming my talk page with repeated messages. Thank you. sixtynine • whaddya want? • 06:42, 9 June 2023 (UTC)

Mortal Kombat articles

Forgot to tell you. In the past months I've been trying to revise some Mortal Kombat characters due to the whole deletion arguments. I think all the current ones easily pass notability. The one I revised the most was Liu Kang due to another user having made it GA years ago and after covering his actors, I asked for the guild of copyeditors to check it. So far, the only one that worries is Kung Lao since most of the reception focuses on his hat. When it comes to individual reviews focused primarily on one character, I found DenofGeek as well as the reviews of Legacy quite useful. Still, due to some MK11 images being kinda incomplete on its own, I talked with Kung Fu Man in using Tobias' artwork as it tends to be the most common portrayal of the character similar to how some Final Fantasy articles have images by Tetsuya Nomura. Any problem, be bold or just talk with me. Happy editing.Tintor2 (talk) 03:54, 8 July 2023 (UTC)

No problem. I've fallen off over the past few weeks in terms of MK editing (was in the process of removing junk from the Mileena article and have some new reception sources for Ermac that have remained in "preview" on my other laptop for an eternity) but am starting to get back into it. I just removed the tables and made some edits to the character sections. I thank you very much for your support. :) sixtynine • whaddya want? • 04:22, 8 July 2023 (UTC)

Italized thing

GameSpot, GameSpy, Gamefront and Feartnet except Prima Games should be italized like other most GA character articles GreenishPickle! (🔔) 11:55, 9 August 2023 (UTC)

Hey GP. They're not italicized in their respective Wikipedia articles, though, which is the deciding factor. It's inconsistent throughout the site (like why is Den of Geek italicized when the aforementioned sites are not?), which can be rather frustrating. sixtynine • whaddya want? • 17:30, 9 August 2023 (UTC)

Will you stop reverting my edit on Barakas?

Self-explanatory. Baraka's real name (Rebirth) is Alan Zane, it belongs here with his name given, besides many other characters here like Noob have italics on them with their real names. And yes it's a real thing. JosephWC (talk) 13:30, 25 September 2023 (UTC)

Noob Saibot's real name (Bi-Han, aka Sub-Zero) is bolded because it is long-established series canon from none other than NetherRealm Studios. Baraka's "name" was made up for a one-time appearance in a non-canon fan film (which is what Rebirth basically was) that is not recognized by the series developers. Hence, its removal. sixtynine • whaddya want? • 16:27, 25 September 2023 (UTC)

Generally, redlinks posted in the Deaths pages get one month to attain a (non-redirect) Wikipedia article before being deleted. One of the exceptions is if the subject being added clearly and undisputedly has no outline notability of any kind. The criteria is the same for redlinks entered into group event entries such as Eli Ginsberg. As you will now see he has been given an article and, even if not, his basic 30-day grace notability would have been as a commander of LOTAR. Thanks. Ref (chew)(do) 17:30, 9 October 2023 (UTC)

Invitation

Hello HopalongCasualty, we need experienced volunteers.
  • New Page Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles. We could use a few extra hands on deck if you think you can help.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; Wikipedia needs experienced users to perform this task and there are precious few with the appropriate skills. Even a couple reviews a day can make a huge difference.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision (if it looks daunting, don't worry, it basically boils down to checking CSD, notability, and title). If this looks like something that you can do, please consider joining us.
  • If you would like to join the project and help out, please see the granting conditions. You can apply for the user-right HERE.
  • If you have questions, please feel free to drop a message at the reviewer's discussion board.
  • Cheers, and hope to see you around.
