Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, Horizon Falling. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page 2024 Missouri Secretary of State election, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. You seem to have confirmed that you're a subject of the article here making editing the article a COI. Dcpoliticaljunkie (talk) 15:54, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello Dcpoliticaljunkie -
You're correct, I'm the candidate and it was wrong of me to become directly involved on the page. I don't intend to again.
I became involved because I'm an admirer of Wikipedia as an institution, and when I believed I was being unjustly removed from the page in violation of Wikipedia precedent, I felt frustrated and compelled to fix the problem. I still believe my removal would clearly be wrong, but I digress and will stick to the talk pages and disclose my COI for this article. Horizon Falling (talk) 21:11, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
