Hi Huckrorick,
Hello Huckrorick. Welcome to Wikipedia! This is a website where everyone is welcomed to pitch in their own knowledge to just about anything in the world's most up-to-date encyclopedia.
The quick links to Wikipedia are on the left side of every page. Here're some links that you should take time reading them (don't worry, they're short and very easy to understand)
If you need help, simply go to Wikipedia:Questions or ask on my talk page. Last thing, don't forget to sign your name when you do edits on a talk page. Signing a page is as easy as typing four tildes (~~~~). I hope that your experience in Wikipedia will be a memorable one.
On the sidenote, I saw your request on Wikipedia:Village pump (assistance) regarding eco-village in China. I would like to point out that China has blocked access to Wikipedia (at least the chinese version). If you go to the chinese Wikipedia (http://zh.wikipedia.org/), on the top the 2nd line says "Mainland China users are very unlikely to be able to access Wikipedia due to Internet censorship". While they blocked access to Wikipedia, it is uncertain whether other Wikis will also be blocked as they may or may not use the same tools as Wikipedia. So you may need to take this into consideration.
Should you require more help, please don't hesitate to contact me. I can read and write in both traditional and simplified chinese.
Sincerely, OhanaUnited 06:24, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi OhanaUnited. I'm a little confused about how to facilitate communication on this site. I am very interested in your comment and experience. I started a wiki with a wiki host, pbwiki.com, and found that they were apparently blocked in China. I found another wiki host that is apparently accessible. In addition, it seems (I am not sure) that SharePoint services can create and manage a wiki on any web host with SharePoint services. this would be an economical solution for us. Please let me know any comments or suggestions you have and let me know the best way to communicate. thanks, Huck Huckrorick 18:18, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hello there! When you want to start a new section of discussion, you first have to go to the user's discussion page (which you did). On the top, you can see a menubar which has these tabs: "user page", "discussion", "edit this page", "+", "history" and etc. (you get the idea). Start a new section by click on the "+" and type in your message. Then just click "Save page" and you're done! I'm not too sure about which wiki providers are accessible in China and which are not. However, I will be making a trip to Hong Kong for vacation in this summer and I can probably ask someone to lend me a hand on this issue. (Hong Kong does NOT have Internet censorship filter, but it's close enough to China.) Can you provide me a more detailed explanation of what you want to do on my talk page? I'm an environmentalist and can help you on this matter. I won't be able to reply your message for next 2 days because I just got started on my biology lab report which is due in 2 days...
