Rio declaration
The entire section on principles comes from the Rio declaration on Environment and Development, which is a Wikisource, so could we please reinstate that! Also, could you explain why the Significance section is copy right violation, and suggest how I get round it, I get the feeling I am missing something. Ta --SasiSasi (talk) 20:45, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Deleted all my additions to the Rio Declaration article, saying its all copyright violation. However, the Rio Declaration is a wikisource, so I dont see how quoting the Declaration is a copyright issue. Apart from that he/she is very aggressive.--SasiSasi (talk) 20:56, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Just cut my entire Right to Development article for one minor copy right issue. Just for the record, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the African Charter of Human and Peoples' Rights, and the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action are not copyrighted, and quoting them is not copy right infringement. Again, needlessly aggressive... --SasiSasi (talk) 21:25, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Pdf Tagging Bot
Hi there Hut 8.5. I would just like to tell you (as you are the one tat requested the bot) that my pdF tagging bot has now been approved and should have its first run tonight. If you have any queries about the bot please leave me a message. Shad Helmstetter
Hello, My entry on Dr. Shad Helmstetter was deleted and the message said it was because there was no content. I had been working on the page and when I left there was content. My entry was originally removed because editors thought it was advertising (which was not my intent). They edited a few lines and said they would watch the page. I've changed nothing after their edits so I'm not sure why it's gone. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Speedy deletion of Francine hardaway
Hi
The article about Francine hardaway, which I moved to Francine Hardaway, was only just created, and wasn't following the naming conventions. And while the former is a possible search term, it will still be found even if the redirect is deleted: read the last row in Wikipedia:R#Spellings, misspellings, tenses and capitalizations. And while they are kept for high profile pages like Bill clinton or Winston churchill, I really don't think they are necessary for every biographical article. Patrick stewart or Jens lehmann don't have them, for example.
Cheers, Amalthea (talk) 16:52, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- Well, if those redirects were considered important then it would be easy enough for a bot to create them, but you're right, this way it won't be recreated at the old place. Thanks for your answer & cheers, Amalthea (talk) 17:23, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for the restoration of the article 'Flight Training Europe'. It never should have been deleted in the first place. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.2.98.243 (talk) 09:54, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
Re : IP 92.237.53.167
Hi Hut, I have a problem with this fellow on the Tarkhan disimbaguation page. He keeps making changes to a cited source, in this case Sir Dennis Ibbeston, and distorting the quote from the source. I have tried to talk to him but doesn't seem to work. Any ideas? --Sikh-history (talk) 10:32, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Hut. I read your reply regarding this issue. I have checked Denzil Ibbeston's book and the changes made to the tribes made by this fellow are incorrect. The original list is the correct one.--Sikh-history (talk) 12:04, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

SolarWinds deleted for blatant advertising
Hut,
We've had a SolarWinds page up on your site for several months now. On Friday a few edits were made making some regular text, links back to our site. Any reason why the entire page was deleted. It was my understanding that if recent edits added violated your policy, just those edits would be reverted. Am I incorrect? If this is the case, can we get the SolarWinds page reposted. It really is not much different from other vendors that have pages in this space...eg. Cisco Systems, Inc.

Template vandalism
I note you've been reverting quite a bit of vandalism to heavily transcluded templates (like {{otheruses}}, 300 uses). When you revert these, could you take the opportunity to protect them as well? A lot of these are basically just open holes waiting to be attacked, and there's very little need to edit any of them in the normal course of things... Shimgray | talk | 19:07, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Same Vandalism on a number of Templates this morning. I reverted all of them.
Can we get all Language templates protected? There is no need for everyone to be mucking around with a language template.
Here's the list of templates that I undid the Vandalism on:

Ajh1492 (talk) 15:04, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for locking the language templates down. I agree, he/she could have done more damage than they did. Ought to be a policy for high usage templates (languages, heavily used infoboxes, etc.) to be locked down. Where would be a good place to post such a request?

Hi. A quick question - why did you change the speedy to a prod on this article ? There's no apparent assertation of notability using WP:POLITICIAN/WP:BIO, so is it simply because the author quotes a few references to say he's notable that it has to go through prod ? CultureDrone (talk) 11:38, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm I see - what about instances where the author states, for example, 'Fred Bloggs has won 23 major awards...', but fails to provide any references or sources as to the awards - does the mere assertation of notability, even if unproven, require a prod rather than a speedy ? CultureDrone (talk) 11:49, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

List of the richest people ever
Dear Hut: I had not originally created this article but only improved it further. As such, I can't tell you about any differences that I see except the fact that the Wealthy historical figures 2008 and similar previous yearly lists can be updated only annually based on annual-list provided by Forbes (whereas List of the richest people ever can be updated dynamically based on current-info released by other sources) and that this list contains a bit more info, especially about ranking-process and scope. On the Wealthy Historical Figures page too, this list is cited as "the main page of the other lists". Also, this list is limited only to the top-ten (though I'm unsure whether it's any advantage) and the main-list has some additional references, notable-mentions, and external-links. Probably, these lists could be merged but that would need a discussion too. Regards. --Bugnot (talk) 22:42, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
Moreover, the top-ten list also includes info such as Age at Death, Original Net Worth as well as other dates not mentioned in the 2008 list.--117.201.66.125 (talk) 18:12, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
GetMyHomesValue.com
I would like to contest the speedy deletion G11 recently placed on my entry. The article was not "blatant advertising" as the speedy deletion suggests. While it was still in the editing stages, the article was being designed as a historical account of the development of GetMyHomesValue.
Also, the company GetMyHomesValue is notable, and therefore my Wikipedia entry should not have been deleted. GetMyHomesValue was awarded by the Central Penn Business Journal as the Emerging Business of the Year in 2006. This month, GetMyHomesValue.com will be named to the Inc. 500 as one of the fastest growing privately owned companies in America.
My page was deleted before I was given a chance to fully develop my list of notable references. I would appreciate the opportunity to finish my Wikipedia submission before having it deleted.
Thank you for your consideration. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JonathanBentz (talk • contribs) 21:00, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Etana Insurance
Hey there Hut, we're both clearing out CsD right now it seems :-) I was just reading an article from thetimes online that was about Etana, seemed to indicate some notability. What do you think? Thanks for replying to my questioning. I've tried to discuss this with the person but he does not write anything back to me in the talk page. All he writes is that I'm being POV and then he re-works the article to his liking. I mean, I'm the one that has been working with another user (Selecciones de la Vida) on improving the article, but then this guy comes along and writes everything to his liking. He has deleted my sources and other things that he did not see "correct" in the article. How is that not vandalizing????!!! The IP address has also never helped in creating the article, and yet he comes in there with all the authority he wants and reworks everything to his liking. How is that not vandalizing????!!!! And then you state I'm breaking the Wikipedia rules??? Please help me, I don't understand.--MarshalN20 (talk) 20:11, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0
Hi there Hut 8.5,
As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.
We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.
You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up if you are located near London at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.
We look forward to hearing from you soon!
Thanks for reading.
