Durham (poem) translation

edit

Hi Hyperglyph -- thanks for adding the translation to Durham (poem) -- unfortunately it appears to be in copyright, according to the website you linked, and so can't be used on Wikipedia. I'll add it as external link so that people can read it. I'm still seeking a clearly out-of-copyright translation for it. Espresso Addict (talk) 12:47, 5 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

ETA Ah, now I'm confused! These pages state the site provides "open-access translations" [1],[2] but the poem itself has a clear copyright statement at the bottom. Will investigate further... Espresso Addict (talk) 12:58, 5 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I'd thought it was a freely available scholar's resource, since the professor's disclaimer described it as "open access" & meant for "students". I totally missed the copyright claim at the bottom. Thanks for fixing my work. Hyperglyph (talk) 06:16, 6 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Maybe the copyright is a generic stamp for Rutger's entire website? That's a stretch though. You're probably right to err on the side of caution. Hyperglyph (talk) 06:20, 6 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your understanding -- unfortunately we do have to err on the side of caution. Even if the author is happy for it to be copied for the use of students, the commercial part of our licence would not be covered. At least the link will let people understand the poem now! Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 16:04, 6 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
