Solar Roofing

edit

Definition

edit

Solar Roofing, is a superset of Solar Shingles. This category represents a newly emerging market in the field of clean energy. Rather than being limited to shingles, solar roofing includes additional applications beyond that traditional shingle form factor. New designs have been created to match the shape and style of existing roofing applications. SolarCity, a residential solar panel installation company in the United States, has roofing styles that match Terra Cotta clay tiles, traditional French Slate roofing, as well as traditional shingles. Although, these newer products have not yet replaced solar panels for residential applications, companies like SolarCity expect them to be a practical choice for homeowners looking for both a new roof and solar energy for their homes. The initial production for SolarCity's products is scheduled for the second half of 2017 [2] Other companies, such as Forward Labs of Troy, NY have expressed intent on entering the market with a design of their own but details of their production schedule are still limited.
