Cwmhiraeth (talk) 11:29, 11 January 2015 (UTC)Sounds like a shared username?
editHi, well done getting your article approved. However I notice that the username you have chosen, Spaceops, sounds very much as if it might be intended to be shared among several members of your organization. This would be in contravention of Wikipedia policy: WP:ISU. If so, you should change it to one or more personal usernames. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 16:50, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
File source and copyright licensing problem with File:International Committee on Technical Interchange for Space Mission Operations and Ground Data Systems.jpeg
editThanks for uploading File:International Committee on Technical Interchange for Space Mission Operations and Ground Data Systems.jpeg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.
If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.
Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 18:16, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

editHello again! An administrator has answered my questions at our conversation on my talk page. Please read them and act on them. Failing to follow the rules and guidelines of the Wikipedia can result in getting an editor blocked from editing, so it is vital that you do as suggested. How to alert other editors
editJust a quick guide on "how to use the phone on Wikipedia" if you want to get hold on someone.
When someone is posting on your talk page you get an automatic notification. That notification is a red square followed by a long yellow box (for most browsers and settings). In all other cases you have to alert the other editor in some way, either by "ping" or by mentioning them in a link. This will result in a just the red box notification on that users pages. So even if you respond on your talk page you still have to alert the editor you are addressing. If you want to get hold of me you write {{ping|W.carter}} resulting in @W.carter: or [[User:W.carter|W.carter]] resulting in W.carter and sign with the four "squiggles" ~~~~ at the end and hit "Save". There are some more, but these are the basics. And when you ask something on someone's talk page, you also create a new section so your question don't get entangled in some other conversation. If you are having a conversation with another user on some page, it is also customary to add that page to your Watchlist in case someone in the discussion forgets to alert.
The policy is to leave an answer on the same page as the question, keep the conversation intact unless there is some reason for moving it elsewhere. Like complicated questions at the Teahouse can be continued on the appropriate talk page. w.carter-Talk 21:50, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:International Committee on Technical Interchange for Space Mission Operations and Ground Data Systems.jpeg
editThanks for uploading File:International Committee on Technical Interchange for Space Mission Operations and Ground Data Systems.jpeg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones (Talk) 01:31, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
Orphan article SpaceOps
editW.carter Hello WCarter, I am trying to de-orphan the SpaceOps page. The Wiki tool finder shows approx. 20 possibilities, however SpaceOps is only mentioned in the references. Can I Wikilink SpaceOps within a reference? Joachim ICare82 (talk) 16:51, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
- Nope. It has to be in the article. Don't worry about the orphan-tag, that is just the way some articles are. I'll see what I can do about it later tonight when I get home. I'm still at work. Best, w.carter-Talk 16:58, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
- In the meantime, can you please concentrate on fixing the references the way I showed you with the first two, that would get rid of one of the tags at least. You'll find additional help here: Help:Referencing for beginners :) Happy editing, w.carter-Talk 17:01, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
- Article linked to a couple of articles. I saw that you had already found one. So no longer an orphan. Best, w.carter-Talk 19:29, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
SpaceOps "link-rotting"
editW.carter Dear W.carter, I have worked very hard in the afternoon to augment the references as told. This should take care of the second comment on the SpaceOps page. With your linking of other pages to the SpaceOps page the "de-orpahning" has been taken care also (thank you very much!). The only remaining item is the COI - do I have to do something else or will my statement be enough? Thanks again for your dedicated help - I wouldn't have achieved it without you! (the Wikisystem is very procedural oriented, i.e. time consuming to digest for newcomers). Cheers, JoachimICare82 (talk) 17:58, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
- You are very kind. :) I've removed the tag for the refs, they are almost there, I'll see what I can do about the final tweaking this weekend. Anyway, you've done your part. The last tag is something we'll have to live with until someone else without a COI comes along and do a major expansion on the article. Some articles have those tags for years. Yes, being new at the WP is not easy, lots to learn. Especially when you go in at the deep end as you did. :) The more sensible approach to learn editing here, is when you join out of interest to build and really work on the encyclopedia as such, not for a single article. Most editors start with easy tasks and work their way up to articles. This makes it easy to see who's here for the spreading of knowledge and who's here to promote their own cause. I hope that you have learned something here and in time might be interested in contributing on other articles as part of this huge project. All the best, w.carter-Talk 19:16, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
SpaceOps Close-out
editW.carter Dear W.carter, I would like to thank you again for your support - WP should be proud of you! Yeah, I guess I was not aware what expected me when I started. I still have to decide (timewise) whether I will maintain and use what I have learned or let it rest for a while. Anyways - indeed it is an interesting project and I am proud having been able to contribute a little. Cheers JoachimICare82 (talk) 11:10, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
