Utah teapot render
editHi IG-64, I posted this request at the Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/Images to improve#Teapot render a few days ago with no serious takers - could you help us out? I'm looking for a showcase image.

That's not a nice shade of green

Here's one without the green color balance
Article(s): Computer_graphics, utah teapot
Request: Please render this iconic model with a better surface texture, bump map and shade of lighting. I'd love to see someone turn on all of the bells and whistles on this one. Procedural? Fractal? Dhatfield (talk) 02:36, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Graphist opinion: I think the texture is fine. I only reduced the green shades. --ZooFari (talk) 16:26, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
- Not quite what I was thinking of - this should be FP quality. This is one of only a handful of 3D models that have historical significance and instant recognition among 3D modelers / renderers. Dhatfield (talk) 21:37, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
Utah teapot Mk II
editHi IG-64. I did this for the teapot in POV-ray, but it's not featured pic quality. What I'd really like to see is some top quality renders that we can get promoted to featured pic status so we can encourage more quality 3D illustrators to contribute to WP. If you're up for it, subject matter is completely open.
Maybe a nice render of the the Stanford bunny or other well known model? [1]
Cheers. Dhatfield (talk) 01:31, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- I made some Utah Teapot renders some time ago for my own sake. Here's a link to one of them: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g295/IG-64_photos/3D%20Portfolio/09d3609c.jpg
- It's actually a modification of the Utah teapot to make it more realistic in geometry. Perhaps I could so something like that only with the original model and some more contrast with the background? The Stanford bunny would also be an interesting project, however I don't know if I can find one that Max or Maya can open. (which talk page are we using here by the way?) -IG-64 (talk) 16:42, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
