Hi there, regarding this article it needs to have references cited and linked, no trivia section and a few other things. What I will do is start the cleanup and to assist you it may be best to look at other musical artists and see how their wikipedia article is laid out. Usually broken into sections and a bit tidier. --Mikecraig 21:54, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Been doing that on so many music pages, I think it took me over 4 hours to sort out one page; I've started to see trivia sections in my dreams - very spooky. INXS-Girl 13:47, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you

It's nice of you to recognize the contributions of an anon :D . I am a former "logged" user. As a logged user I had over 20000 Wikipedia edits. But at least half of them were vandalism warnings on IP talk pages. I thought, "surely there must be 1 trustworthy anon out there?..." My answer was, "Yes there will be... me!" And... as I roll over yet another 20000 edits originating from my dependable 156.34 range... your gift was VERY much appreciated. In my 'former life' I was prompted many times to be an admin. I declined them all. I am not here for personal "Wiki-glory" :D . I edit based on policy, commmunity and concensus. And I hope my contributions help to build this interesting little project into something that everyone can read, learn and enjoy. It is me who should be giving you an award. Your diligence and dedication to "lists" is to be admired. I never double check your edits. Were I still a VandalProof user... you would definitely be 'whitelisted'. Keep up the good work!!!! I will always support what your are trying to do here. Have a nice day! 156.34.142.110 17:47, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

For your dedication to cleaning "the lists". Keep up the good work! 156.34.142.110 12:20, 28 June 2007 (UTC) "Libs"Reply

PS, I tried to do a nice cleanup on the List of banjo players article but brunted up against a "Wiki-inclusionist"(the scourge of all quality on Wiki) Could you add that article to your watchlist and assist me on trying to trim the crap. The inclusionist's last edit referred to my cleanup as vandalism. I will ignore the uncivility. But your help would certainly be appreciated. Thanks! 156.34.142.110 13:11, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I am the so-called "Wiki-inclusionist". I have attempted to start a discussion of the above edits on the article's talk page. I have cited some editing guidelines that would seem to support my stance on including the disputed red links in the article. I labelled the last edit as "vandalism" because of the sweeping changes being made while essentially avoiding any attempt to reach a consensus through discussion first. Dsreyn 13:18, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! The list is is horrible shape... again... after a great cleanup. If the inclusionist is correct and there are some notable links among the crap then those names should be compiled on the list talk page with a request to create articles for them. The lead needs to be rv'd back to the linked "notable" version. And all the nowiki "DO NOT ADD NN's" notes need to be replaced at each alpha header. On top of that... the list is abundant with "guitarists who've touched a banjo for 5 minutes". Like the nn's, they need to be filleted out to try and make the list a resource and not an overswelled school band roster... which it certainly is right now. If I am around on the weekend and see you are attempting to cleanup the inclusionist's mess I will help. And if trouble still brews I will have one of my Admin friends intervene and help us out. 156.34.142.110 14:31, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
You really should stop the name-calling. And I don't really appreciate the threat of getting an admin involved either. Suit yourself, but I haven't violated any policies with my edits, so I'm not really sure why you think admin action is required. Dsreyn 15:33, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I haven't called anyone names, what on earth is going on? INXS-Girl 10:27, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear here, but I was responding to 156.34.142.110, not to you. Dsreyn 12:33, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

re: List of harmonicists

edit

Holy &$%#!!! That list is 100 times worse than the Banjo list. A full bore purge is required on that one. Red links, Black links, Spam links galore. I will certainly assist any clean-up on that one. I also watch the List of Hammond Organ players. It's actually in pretty good shape. It just needs the "Do not add anyone without an article" blurb at each alpha location and a proper "Notable" lead-in for clarification. I'll assume you've figured out what an NN is :D . Wikipedia is abundant with NN superfluity. "Quality Scourgers" make it almost impossible for 'Wiki' to become a true, trustworthy 'pedia'. I've been here almost as long as there's been a project to be here for. You get used to the idea that no matter how much manure you try to shovel away... another load just gets dumped right back in. I Speedy_D 2 dozen nn articles per day. Hundred's more could easily be eliminated daily. But there just isn't enough "quality" eyes and WAY too many "includers". Stay diligent. In the end, the crufters, pov pushers, soap-boxers, inclusionists and vandals all get bored and go away. Wiki will be a pedia some day. And it's editors like you who will help get it there. Have a nice day! 156.34.142.110 13:46, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the Barnstar!

Hey, there! I've been on a vacation for a few weeks. I only returned yesterday. Thanks so much for the barnstar! How nice of you! I know some time has passed, but if you remember, would you tell me what I did that you noted as being Barnstar-worthy? I'm very curious! Thanks again! Joie de Vivre T 16:57, 7 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

List of guitarists

I just posted a reply to your question on my talk page. 24.128.153.211 00:54, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oops, it looks like my IP address must have changed. Anyway, the reply is at User talk:24.61.251.102. 24.128.153.211 00:56, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I thought I made the reason clear in my edit summary: a reader doesn't need to see editing instructions. Editing instructions should not be part of page content; it just adds clutter without adding information. Addressing some of your other points:
  1. It’s heartbreaking to spend four or five hours sorting something out - are you seriously suggesting that I undid several hours of work by deleting one line? That seems rather extreme.
  2. only to log in again the next day and find someone who’s only ever made a few edits (sometimes none at all) has turned it all upside down. - why does it matter how many edits I have made? Would you leave it alone if I had 10,000 edits to my credit? I suspect not. Isn't there a guideline about not biting newcomers? And how did I exactly "turn it all upside down"?
In short, my impression is that Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, and nobody "owns" any pages. In other words, it's not "your" page, and I don't need to check with you before I edit. But I'm getting the feeling like you do in fact feel a sense of ownership here, and don't welcome other editors unless they agree with your editing agenda. If I have gotten the wrong impression, please let me know and I will refrain from editing your pages. 24.128.153.211 00:53, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I knew you'd say that, about no one owns the page, (smiling here, so don't take it the wrong way.) Sorry if you felt my words were harsh, that's the trouble isn't it we can't see each other and this can lead to a misunderstanding. I was asked by someone in admin (at least I think they were admin)add "only add names here" to bring it into line with other pages; but at the end of the day it doesn't really matter does it?
I'm taking a break from editing, so please don't think I'm rude if you reply to this and I don't answer. Take Care INXS-Girl 10:15, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Another list "NN" cleaned

edit

If you don't have too many already could you add this list to your watchlist. I just did an nn sweep on it and added the standard "don't F**k it up" script :D. It's a short list(and will probably always be that way) It shouldn't be too hard to keep track of. 156.34.212.94 01:30, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

PS Great job keeping the other lists tidy. As I've said before... inclusionists are the scourge of all quality on Wiki. Strict guidelines and policies will, over time, make the project earn the "pedia" in its name. 156.34.212.94 01:30, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think I'm going to give editing a rest for a while - basically it's getting to me and I think it's time for a break. Take Care INXS-Girl 10:15, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I am sad to see you leave. But I understand completely. I've been here a very long time. And I've seen many good wiki-friends walk away in frustration. I call it the "spinning wheels" syndrome. No matter how much good work you do there will always be someone coming along and trying to undo it. Never let negative comments about your editing get to you. Especially from "inclusionists". Your work here was/is positive and valid. Perhaps after breathing the free air for awhile you will return to pick up where you left off. Take care and again, thank you for all the excellent work you've done. 156.34.142.110 12:49, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
