File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Vi Cowden OnWing P-51.jpg

Removing Speedy at Wings of Silver: The Vi Cowden Story
editWelcome to Wikipedia, thank you for taking the time to create a page here. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you created yourself. Because Wikipedia policy does not allow the creator of the page to remove deletion tags, an automated program has replaced the deletion tag you removed from Wings of Silver: The Vi Cowden Story. Please do not continue to remove the deletion tag, instead, if you disagree with the deletion, you can follow these steps:
- Go to the page by clicking this link. Once there, select the button that says Click here to contest this speedy deletion.
- This will take you to the talk page, where you can make your case by explaining why the page does not meet Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion.
Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do. For further help about the deletion, you could contact the user who first placed the tag or a highly active user who is willingly to help with deletion. This message was left by a bot, so please do not contact the bot about the deletion. Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 05:43, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
License tagging for File:WingsOfSilver POSTER.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:WingsOfSilver POSTER.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 09:05, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Luckily I saw your recent addition asking me about copyright issues regarding the article. I'll be glad to walk through this with you, but we might need to communicate back and forth a little bit.
First off, if the text is coming from the producers of the film, for legal reasons we actually would like to have written permission directly from the producers (email will suffice). The automated message I left you above explains the process for that. The same goes for the film posters and screencaps.
Second off, articles with content written by the creators themselves usually comes off as sounding too much like an advertisement when it's written in an encyclopedia. We strive for neutrality; when reading Wikipedia, it should be like reading a newspaper or book (without the ads of course!). This case is not an exception; reading the article sounds like an advertisement to watch the film, not a review of it.
A good start for the article might be something like this:
- Wings of Silver: The Vi Cowden Story is a 2011 documentary about Vi Cowden, the first women in the United States to fly military planes. It was independently produced and directed.
- ==Plot==
- The film starts (... description goes here).
Does this make sense so far? Sorry about any problems you've been having. Some of us have been on the internet and on Wikipedia so long that we forget how daunting it is at first. Magog the Ogre (talk) 00:31, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
thanks Magog the Ogre - it makes a little sense, especially the part about making it more of a review. I will start on that this weekend and will take our synopsis off for now. You mentioned about leaving a way to communicate with you by "The automated message I left you above explains the process for that". Again, I'm not seeing it, it really isn't obvious, everything I clicked on didn't take me somewhere where I could fill things out. So I am trying this and hoping for the best. As to sending you an email from me and my husband, the Producers, Directors and everything else that has to do with the documentary telling you that we give permission to put our own information up on the web. I appreciate you staying calm while I am going crazy, but I work from home all by myself and don't really have ANYONE to ask for help. The language used on Wikipedia is really like Greek. I really think you guys should have a novice go through it with you and show you how UN-user friendly it is... or is that on purpose? Thanks Christine
Hi MTO - I figured it out... took me a while to figure out how to get to the right "read" page, but I found the email address for sending our permission for creating the article and for use of the Poster jpg. Thanks again for your help. I hope that I am getting it down! :)
