A message from BlakeTheGhost
editA message from BlakeTheGhost Hi, Idreamofhorses. Thanks for the welcome, and for the suggestions. You've probably noticed that Mainwaring was my first foray into a Wikipedia page edit (have a long list of nonfiction authors I'd love to tackle).
So I appreciate any help you can offer ... but I was highly discouraged by your having reverted the whole thing back to its original after all my research and work (learning the language to code properly in Wikitext, especially).
Can we discuss the specific areas where you thought the language wasn't neutral? I aimed to state facts, used sources for (what I thought were) all my edits, corrected clear errors, added biographical details, updated (for example, there's a whole new book, so it's not true he's "best known" for that first book).
In other words, I'd greatly appreciate your taking a deeper look. If there was something specifically "promotional" in there, I'm totally fine losing it (of course; as an English Professor I'm keen on getting the rules right). But ALL of it? The new book? The other career paths? The name of the business? The place of birth?
I'm afraid of going forward with anyone else on my list if that stuff just gets flagged and deleted. By the way, I used Paul Polman and Paul Hawken (authors of the same stature) as models for how to do the Simon Mainwaring page. Are those equally promotional?
I didn't want to start with a huge author: I thought Mainwaring was just notable enough (as evidenced by all the press, the legit clients, the book endorsements, etc.) Thanks again for engaging with a new user. BlakeTheGhost (talk) 14:27, 1 March 2022 (UTC)

- @BlakeTheGhost About you using other articles as inspiration: Unfortunately, articles that have gone through the cracks exist. As for having to start over, I've seen people do exactly that and do better next time.
- The lack of paragraphs in your message prevents me from helping further. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 00:27, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
A message from BlakeTheGhost
editHi, I broke my original request into grafs at your request (sorry for the mistake) and now would greatly appreciate you reviewing the entire reversion you did.
(I laid out some arguments and asked some questions in the now broken-up original message).
It comes down to: You reverted the entire thing when the vast majority should be OK, based on what I understand from the links you sent and the previous research I did before starting those changes.
Please give me specific instances of the violation of neutral language and I'll work on those and re-revert the rest if that works for Wiki?
BTW, I was following the "be bold" ethos but there's nothing bold about updating, correcting, revising, reorganizing according to norms, and adding good sources, no?
Thanks again for your understanding and trying to help.

BlakeTheGhost (talk) 01:06, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
- @BlakeTheGhost: I wasn't complaining about adding sources, but rather a non-neutral tonality. Talking about "moving beyond standard dimensions," naming a long list of brands, etc. isn't exactly what'd you typically find in an encyclopedia, but rather in a pamphlet.
- I could tell you were trying to help, for what's it worth. If I hadn't figured that out, you would've gotten a warning instead of a welcome. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 01:41, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
Nutria
editI have never edited anything on Wikipedia. Honestly me and a good friend were talking about Capybaras and Beavers, and I remembered when I lived in Oregon seeing these beautiful nutrias everywhere, that yes, we’re destroying an ecosystem, that they did not belong to, but none of their own fault. People even in Portland were encouraged to kill them on site. Yes they are invasive, but so are humans, we are the worst, especially Europeans in the Americas. I don’t believe that page is neutral in any way, even with the citations, because the research is not neutral either. Either way thanks for the message, but why take what I said down? It’s not an opinion, it’s how the world is. Maybe the Jurassic Park joke was a little much, I admit that. Snitchesdigditches (talk) 05:35, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Snitchesdigditches The entire world is biased. We on Wikipedia try to have a "bias" of neutrality, sometimes even aggressive neutrality. Of course, we often fail, but we try. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 06:11, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
February 2022
editHello I dream of horses. I saw you reverted my edit this edit to Merkle hearing because it did not appear constructive. I am involved in patent law and have never heard of a Merkle Hearing. I believe the article mistakenly uses "Merkle" instead of "Markman." The articles cited to are misquoted. Thus, I believe my edit was constructive as to reduce improper info. What is the best way to make the change? Best. --LeithX (talk) 03:32, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

- Yes, in this case, both an IP editor and a new editor were reverting vandalism done by an editor who had been here for a few weeks. It was part of a sneak attack where they moved articles to a bad titles and then changed the article content to be in line with the incorrect titles. They did this on a couple of other rather obscure articles over the course of the past day and night. Liz Read! Talk! 23:37, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Liz Thank you for the explanation. I'm sure LeithX would like to read it as well. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 00:56, 3 March 2022 (UTC)

editThank you for adding a proper disambiguation page to the Lifehouse All In article. When I saw I wasn't the final edit I was scared someone had reverted it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MisterBurgers (talk • contribs) 23:41, 6 March 2022 (UTC)

This is getting quite annoying...
editHello,
Thanks for the revert on my talk page a few minutes ago...I went after one IP and it seems like I've stirred up the whole beehive. And they've gone after you too, unfortunately. Any idea on the best way to get a complete solution to this problem? Not sure what else to do but to submit AIV requests. Benjamin112 ☎ 02:04, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Benjamin112, GeneralNotability has semi'd my talk page for 12 hours, unfortunately that might be the only that works. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 02:06, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
You added a disambiguation needed here on 11 Feb 2022. The link is to Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) which is an article. I'm not sure how to resolve it or if it needs resolving? Cheers Adakiko (talk) 23:21, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Adakiko The link was a disambiguation page at the time when I added that tag. The way to resolve the problem is to remove it, which either of us are able to do. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 23:26, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks! I removed it. Cheers Adakiko (talk) 23:38, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
Question from KaylaT3210 (19:46, 12 March 2022)
editI am adding to the page Maternal-Fetal Stress Transfer. It is a medical wiki article and when learning what to add/not add, it mentions not using primary literature articles. The alcohol section only has one source and it is a primary literature article. What should I do? --KaylaT3210 (talk) 19:46, 12 March 2022 (UTC)
- @KaylaT3210 Try to find a secondary source, or remove the information. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 05:55, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
Question from Spacelord Knyte (10:44, 14 March 2022)
editHello I dream of horses, (They tell me Kim is a good name for you). I am Ashley Dustin Osborne. Dusty for short. The last time we spoke of editing wiki pages, it was full of emotional feedback. So I let the inspiration go and moved on. Now, things have led me back to Wikipedia again. So, I am trying to attempt something. Let's see if we can work together to accomplish it. I am a scientist, among other things, that has discovered how to interact with the proverbial "akashic" record in this modern era. I understand the outlandish claim this is. I have spent the last few years teaching what I have learned to others to see if they can replicate what I do independently of me. Two of the people have been successful and continue to be successful. This has demonstrated to us that there is something to what we do worthy of further investigation. You do not need to believe it nor anything I say. It is still in the fringe elements gaining proof and steam. I tell you that so you may have an idea of what I am attempting. A month or so ago I followed up on messages received via channeling communication that led me to the ra materials on Wikipedia. I interacted with you and have been listening ever since on the subject. Now I think I understand the messages better, so let's give it a try. The ra materials were removed from Wikipedia. I would like to get the materials back on Wikipedia for many reasons. As I understand it, references to show it's use and relevance to modern culture are needed. To that, Carla Rueckert and affiliates have published many books on the events, Aaron Abke is using the materials for his ends as a pastor and is gaining steam, and my group has replicated the experiments, but we have not published yet. But, before I try to bring the ra wiki page back online, let's start smaller. The phaeton (hypothetical planet) pages needs more references. The planet is mentioned in the Ra materials. How do I add them as a reference to the phaeton page? Thank you. --Spacelord Knyte (talk) 10:44, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
Question from Spacelord Knyte (10:50, 14 March 2022)
editRegarding previous: it would go under the phaeton in literature section. Mentioned in the Ra materials. With the published ra materials as the physical reference. --Spacelord Knyte (talk) 10:50, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
Question from Spacelord Knyte (11:09, 14 March 2022)
editI added the info and reference to the phaeton page. Reference needs correct formatting. --Spacelord Knyte (talk) 11:09, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
Question from Spacelord Knyte (12:29, 14 March 2022)
editHello, so I made contribution to the phaeton page. A small one, in correct place, with reference. Granted the reference needed formatting. But, instead of fixing the format, it was removed as unconstructive. I ask why? What is needed for the info and reference material to be added? It really appears like an active effort is being made to keep certain info off of Wikipedia. Surely you can see the appearance. --Spacelord Knyte (talk) 12:29, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Spacelord Knyte: I'd suggest you talk to Doug Weller, who reverted your edit.
- Not sure who or why you were told Kim was a good name for me. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 16:08, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
- Love the "A month or so ago I followed up on messages received via channeling communication that led me to the ra materials on Wikipedia." I'm struggling with that and wondering about NOTHERE. SK wants to use The Ra Material: Law of One[1] which purports to be serious but which SK calls literature/fiction as a source for itself. Of course what we would need is a reliable sources discussing the mention of the planet in the book. You do get some strange people on your talk page. Doug Weller talk 16:17, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Doug Weller I welcome a lot of people, so I get all sorts here.
- @Spacelord Knyte Apparently, the source you were using wasn't quite as reliable in this context, in the way you were using it. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 16:23, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks. Yes, I guess welcoming a lot of people would attract them here. Doug Weller talk 16:28, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Doug Weller I see you've blocked them. What's weird is that I can recall convincing them previously that the material they were adding wasn't reliably sourced. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 11:11, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
- Yes. But recall that they had received channelled messages telling them to do this. But it was the socking threat that convinced me finally. Doug Weller talk 11:37, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Doug Weller No, I get it, it's just all strange. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 11:46, 17 March 2022 (UTC)

New code release schedule for this week
- There will be four MediaWiki releases this week, instead of just one. This is an experiment which should lead to fewer problems and to faster feature updates. The releases will be on all wikis, at different times, on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. You can read more about this project.
Recent changes
- You can now set how many search results to show by default in your Preferences. This was the 12th most popular wish in the Community Wishlist Survey 2022. [2]
- The Jupyter notebooks tool PAWS has been updated to a new interface. [3]
Future changes
- Interactive maps via Kartographer will soon work on wikis using the FlaggedRevisions extension. Please tell us which improvements you want to see in Kartographer. You can take this survey in simple English. [4]
