Question from Floralcreek (22:43, 30 December 2023)
editHi I dream of horses! I'm still getting used to editing on Wikipedia, and I saw that you are my mentor so I have a question for you that I hope you can help me with.
I tried to fix a couple links the other day (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Diagnostic_and_Statistical_Manual_of_Mental_Disorders&diff=prev&oldid=1191877473), but my edit seems to have deleted categories as well---which isn't what I meant to do. I only found out when someone reverted my edit. What did I do that deleted the categories? --Floralcreek (talk) 22:43, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
- Floralcreek, maybe you selected/highlighted the categories by accident. I don't know how else that would happen. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 00:48, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- I don't think that would've been possible since it was a mobile edit, so I didn't even see the categories list (only "External links"). I wanted to check with you before I tried again, to see if it was a known bug or something. I'll just make sure to review the whole article before submitting changes in the future. Thanks :) Floralcreek (talk) 03:58, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Floralcreek Did you see the categories at all? I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 04:04, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- Neigh, the mobile editor only showed me the section I tapped to edit, so I only saw "External links". Floralcreek (talk) 08:22, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Floralcreek That's the last section in the article, so the categories would've technically been within it. Maybe, not seeing the categories, you somehow accidentally deleted them. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 01:12, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- That's strange… I'll have to be careful then. Thanks again for letting me check with you! Floralcreek (talk) 18:23, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- No problem! It's my job as a mentor. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 20:23, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

Question from PhaseAviation (04:31, 2 January 2024)
editHey there. So I used to run an old account on here (The Phase Master) but unfortunately, I lost access to the email it was on and as such, can't get back in. Is there any way to like, import my stuff at least, like my user page, maybe settings, or just anything at all? Thanks in advance.
PhaseAviation (talk) 04:32, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- @PhaseAviation You can just copy and paste your userpage. You're on your own with everything else, though. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 20:24, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- Alright, fair enough thanks. PhaseAviation (talk) 04:24, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
Question from Ceolarisama (23:03, 9 January 2024)
editI just sent an article on myself and it was declined even though I was interviewed on many podcasts. I have added the links to the why it shouldn't be deleted page. Is there something that I need to change to the article? --Ceolarisama (talk) 23:03, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Ceolarisama Interviews don't prove that you are noted enough to qualify for an article; they're simply you talking about yourself, and very frequently aren't subject to editorial oversight. Autobiographical articles often end up being deleted for spam, and so are strongly discouraged, anyways. Also consider that having an article about yourself isn't always a good thing, since all reliably sourced information about you (including all negative information!) will eventually end up in the article. Hello! I have a legal question, I just bought a turkish writer's book and there, all his books are listed. And he does not have a biography page in Turkish... Do i need to have a permission to create a biography in another language? Also I will be adding some of his missing books. Is there any legal preventions? Thank you in advance! --ElifNebu (talk) 11:52, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
- @ElifNebu You'd actually write the article on the Turkish Wikipedia. Cool fact: you already have an account there! If you're logged out when you go to the Turkish Wikipedia, just log into the account you used to ask this question. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 19:07, 13 January 2024 (UTC)

A message from Fsentthecookie
editHello I dream of horses! Nice to meet you. I live in the central european time zone. I want to make a Wikipedia page about a person (my boss), as he is an important figure in the area of IA + Advertising. I believe a coworker once started this process but was not allowed to continue. Why is that? I believe there is quite a lot of information around his name (Jordi Urbea), and my intention is to try and do this process again. :) Thanks for being my mentor! Fsentthecookie (talk) 15:06, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Fsentthecookie I just read your draft. I'll be frank; it reads more like a social media profile or a pamphlet about your boss rather than an encyclopedia article. More concernedly, it isn't sourced very well. There's one source that affiliated with your bosses company, and that's it. Qualifying for an article isn't something that's assumed, particularly for living and recently deceased people. If Urbea isn't noted enough in reliable sources that aren't affiliated with him, his friends and family, or the companies and people he works for, he doesn't qualify for an article. The Wikipedian word for "qualifying for an article" is "notability," and guidelines for notability are listed here and here.
- I don't see any previous attempt to write an article about Urbea, but that's probably because it was done under a different account. If your co-worker had an article or draft deleted because it read like a draft, I can see where they'd think they weren't allowed to continue. But if they were blocked, I can perhaps hazard a guess as to why. Per the terms of use of Wikipedia and its sister sites, you are required to disclose that you are editing for pay. De jure, you've done it already; de facto, you'll need to disclose it on your user page so people can easily find said disclosure. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 17:56, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hello I dream of Horses! Thanks for your feedback. It was my first attemt to understand how Wikipedia works. I published in the sandbox another version, and changed the text so it was more factual and fitting with the guidelines (however I am still learning...), and added more links and citations to support this. Some of them appear in red, and they ask for things I don't really understand at the moment.
- I thank you for your pattience with me and this site. Have a good weekend :) Fsentthecookie (talk) 12:10, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Fsentthecookie There's still a couple of issues:
- You haven't declared that you're a paid editor in an area that's easy for people to find yet.
- The photo you added might be, quite accidentally, a copyright violation. Wikipedia is allowed to exist because of partially-to-fully waived copyright, and it's on the website formerly known as Twitter without said copyright notice. I had to nominate it for speedy deletion To avoid deletion/reupload the photo after deletion, you will need to have whomever took the photo to send permission to to permissions-commons wikimedia.org to copy and redistribute the photograph in any medium or format, and also remix, transform, and build upon the photograph. Needless to say, photos aren't a priority on Wikipedia.
- There's still issues with neutrality.

- Hi, in response to your previous messages.
- Thank you for informing me. I have now discloses that I am a paid editor.
- The photo that was published is owned by Ogilvy. What is easier to justify that same picture or to simply upload a new one, also taken by my collegues in the organisation? This part as you say, is not essential.
- I edited the text so to fit in with neutrailty.
- I also want to ask, do I have to edit a certain number of pages in order to publish this one?
- Thank you kindly,
- Fsentthecookie :) Fsentthecookie (talk) 12:38, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
- Ogilvy will need to partially waive copyright, as previously stated.
- As to whether or not you need to edit a certain number pages to publish an article: technically not, but it does get easier to understand what we expect if you wait to create an article until you've made more edits for a few months. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 16:53, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi! Thank you :) For now, maybe I will simply delete the picture and try to publish the page? Meanwhile, I will try and figure out the image part. Would you recommend doing this step?
- Thanks again!
- Fsentthecookie Fsentthecookie (talk) 17:06, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
- I also forgot to ask, to then translate the page to another language (Spanish primarily), do I need to start the whole process but on the Spanish Wikipedia so to speak? Fsentthecookie (talk) 17:07, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Fsentthecookie Pretty much, but the Spanish Wikipedia has different article guidelines, so doing more minor edits there for a while still applies. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 17:39, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you. When can I submit the draft for a review and get it published? :) Thanks Fsentthecookie (talk) 08:36, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

- Hi, in response to your previous messages.
- @Fsentthecookie There's still a couple of issues:
@Fsentthecookie: After reviewing the draft, it's a lot better but the photo has been nominated for deletion again. I'm not going to formally review the draft myself, though. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 18:49, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi Bookku, I've created a new page for my business named 'Sintela'. After creating it in the sandbox I moved it over to my main page and published it. However I cannot see it online. Has it gone for review and if so how long does this process normally take before it appears online? Kind regards, David --Sintela (talk) 16:20, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Sintela First of all, you really need to change your username before you get blocked for having a company name as your username (it may imply you are sharing your account; this has happened in the past). Secondly, your "main page" that you're referring to is actually your userpage, and not articlespace. Just as well, as there are image copyright and neutrality issues. I moved the sandbox to draftspace, and had the userpage speedily deleted. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 17:55, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
Situation on Rotating Presenters (2024)
editHello, I'm writing this message to say that you have made a mistake in reverting my edit on This Morning (TV programme), I do not think it's necessary to have a list of rotating presenters for 2024 along with the week's episodes date, that's why I want it to be removed. 82.19.40.217 (talk) 20:47, 19 January 2024 (UTC)

Question from Isaiah Majola (15:35, 24 January 2024)
editHello How do I create citations?? --Isaiah Majola (talk) 15:35, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Isaiah Majola To oversimplify, you type in
<ref>insert reliable reference here.</ref>
There's a few citation templates that you can put in between in the ref tags, but what I just did is the basic gist of it. WP:REFBEGIN has more information. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 15:40, 24 January 2024 (UTC)- Thanx a lot Isaiah Majola (talk) 16:33, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
