File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Sunnylab logo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 15:17, 9 May 2011 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Hi Iain. Many thanks for that, and you're welcome. Now, I am not up for a fight over this but I think you may have a problem with the display of the trade name: broadly speaking, what the encyclopaedia wants trumps what the company wants - we are not here to be a vehicle for their desires, and if you feel that you are then you might be adjudged to have a potential conflict of interest (CoI) and perhaps not be the best person to make these decisions. (That said, there is no ban on an editor with a potential CoI editing on their topic and indeed they are often the most knowledgeable person, so proceeding cautiously is often fine!)

MOS:TM is pretty clear on trademark and similar symbols and basically says we don't want or need them in most circumstances. If we did, then Wikipedia would I think be very much fuller of that stuff than it is. Similarly, the company does not dictate whether we say Spark or SPARK in the article: Wikipedia editorial consensus does. Having said all that, though, I am, as noted, not up for a fight about this and I intend probably to leave it alone - it's a small article and I prefer a quiet life.

Others may differ, so I really don't know what will happen next but if it does get difficult I would respectfully advise you to read up on policy a bit, maybe starting with the two links I give above and - this is important - be prepared to take it the the article's Talk page and try to build a consensus there in favour of the position you want to take. Repeated reverts without discussion might be seen as aggressive and we do see a tragic number of editors from companies get off on the wrong foot along those lines (oops, mixed metaphor, sorry).

I must say, as it has nothing to do with the mark issue, that I am unable to understand why you have twice replaced the usage "a number of banknotes" which does seem to me to be very vague and adds nothing to the article. But, like I said, I am not going to fight with you over this article so I shall simply wish you happy editing and all the best in your endeavours. Cheers DBaK (talk) 10:54, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for that - it's not an area in which I am experienced but I think the best advice I could give you is to try the edits you want to make and see what happens! As long as you are open to discussion then most (not all!) editors here will adopt a reasonable tone in response. If someone who really knows policy comes along then you will probably get a good discussion out of it on what is and isn't OK. Most people will greatly appreciate your making the effort to get along. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
