Alledged vandalism to HDCP article.

edit

Hi. Please can you explain your reasons for removing content in this edit to the High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection article? Unless there is a specific reason for your deletion, I will re-add the text. Thanks, --Rebroad (talk) 01:13, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi rebroad, thanks for stopping by. I'll add discussion of this to the HDCP talk page - see you over there :) Ianbetteridge (talk) 20:54, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your edits to HDCP

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we must insist that you assume good faith while interacting with other editors, which you did not on High-bandwidth_Digital_Content_Protection. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. - The edit in question was this one. Please be careful when branding people vandals. For guidance, please refer to WP:VAND. It was not clearly a bad-faith edit. Thank you, --Rebroad (talk) 01:29, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry, rebroad, but I have to disagree. Both myself and others attempted to engage Shodaddy on his talk page (in accordance with Wikipedia protocol, and in an attempt to avoid edit wars) and on the Talk page for HDCP on several occasions. Shodaddy's response was simply to blank his talk page, and remove contributions of others on the HDCP talk page, while reverting his edits. I'd suggest you look through the history of his Talk page for more details. There was plenty of assumption of good faith on the part of myself and others - Shodaddy simply refused to talk about it. Hi. Well, I did have a good look at the history, and I thought I went back far enough to see it from the beginning. I'll have another look. I still think the original premise for the deletion was flawed though, as wikipedia does contain quite a lot of detail of specific software for speicifc purposes. Anyway, probably best to continue this on the HDCP talk page as you suggested above! Cheers, --Rebroad (talk) 20:07, 11 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Amused

...by the deep breath comment. Did you actually read what I said or just judge it by someone else's reading of it?  :) --BozMo talk 20:42, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh, I read it, and with most users I don't think it would have been problematic. I certainly wouldn't have had a problem if you'd commented in the same way to me. But the editor you made it to was obviously on a bit of a... how shall I put it... hair-trigger? So perhaps, if you'd sat back and thought it about it, you might have worded it a little differently. Either way, don't take this as a criticism of you or your admin-ing :) Ianbetteridge (talk) 22:47, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I am fine with criticism. And yep the remark was a bit flippant and I probably should have taken more care. However it wasn't one of these annoying warning notices with hand signals which people plaster user talk pages with and I never implied I might be the one doing the blocking... :) --BozMo talk 12:56, 11 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
