Hello there, apparently you are not sure the edit I linked in the title is minor or not. Well, the answer is no, though the reasoning may be a little tortuous. Per WP:MINOR, Any change that affects the meaning of an article is not minor
. A good example of a minor edit (although it was not marked as such - that is not compulsory) is this one.
However, you can usually revert vandalism (that is, edits which purposefully degrade Wikipedia's quality) with a minor edit. The "famous pediatrician" thing was added by this edit. I guess the IP editor was thinking about another person entirely (possibly themselves) in which case it could be promotion, but not vandalism. It could (but should not) have been construed as vandalism if it referred to the Ingrid Hernandez with a Wikipedia article and intentionally wrote wrong info. But even then, your edit would have done two jobs: removing the false info (which can be minor as a revert of vandalism) and adding the "real" IH info (which is not a minor edit).
Sorry for drowning you in wikilinks, you don't have to read them all. Feel free to ask for more if needed. TigraanClick here to contact me 17:03, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
- Actually, I read up on the differences between minor and major edits shortly after making that edit. I definitely see how my edit is a major one. I wasn't correcting a simple spelling/grammatical typo, and my change did more than simply revert possible vandalism. Once I familiarized myself with the lingo, things became pretty clear.
- Thanks for reaching out and taking initiative! I'm learning that the "bold" mantra applies to more than just editing here; this community doesn't hesitate to connect with one another. I love that.
