Consensus against using caps as a determinator of notability

edit

In a number of recent AfD's you have argued "Keep - He has an international cap therefore he is undoubtedly notable" or similar. These arguments were rejected in WP:NSPORT2022, and continuing to argue them is disruptive and can result in WP:LOCALCON issues. Please stop doing so; if you believe that international caps are sufficient for notability I encourage you to open an RfC proposing that this criteria is restored to WP:NSPORT. Leeds Wikipedia meetup on Saturday 4th May

edit

Hello there! Interested in having a chat with fellow Wikipedians? There's a meetup in Leeds on Saturday 4th May 2024, at the Tiled Hall Café at Leeds Central Library.

Full details here.

You're receiving this one-off message as you're either a member of WikiProject Yorkshire, you've expressed an interest in a previous Leeds meetup years ago, or (for about 4 of you), we've met :)

I plan to organise more in future, so if you'd like to be notified next time, please say so over on the meetup page.

Please also invite any Wikimedia people you know (or have had wiki dealings with) – spread the word! Hope to see you there.

The reason for inclusion is the proposal to create a new article is open states to be a vehicle to be a repository for including everything under the sun on Israel as quoted here “as well as a big chunk of the Israel in Eurovision 2024 article” - The final line in the first comment by the discussion initiator.
Therefor I thought it best to include those involved in that discussion as that is also listed as a discussion to try and resolve the issue. I hope that this explanation helps. PicturePerfect666 (talk) 04:21, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry but there is no consensus for a new article. Now please let it go and move on from it. IJA (talk) 09:29, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I am sorry I don’t follow. PicturePerfect666 (talk) 13:09, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Move review

edit

For higher chances of success try to summarize your entry as much as possible. And highlight how the movers have not proved how this is the common name in RS in contrast with the more prevalently used longer version. Makeandtoss (talk) 15:39, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the advise. I am, however, terrible at making things concise haha. I have added the bit about the shorter title not being the common name to the longer version of the title. Kind regards IJA (talk) 15:50, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Invitation to participate in a research

edit

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team
