Kinegram "copyright"
editI reverted your addition to Barrier-grid animation and stereography, about Leonhard Kurz's "copyright" for the term Kinegram. It is off-topic for that article, which is about barrier-grid animation, not DOVID anti-counterfeiting technology. It also appears to be factually incorrect, since the right at issue appears to be a trademark, not a copyright. If Kurz wants to sue Sarcone for trademark infringement, they can do so; it's not our role to adjudicate whether Sarcone's use of the term infringes the trademark. --Srleffler (talk) 03:48, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
- Srleffler The indicated source indeed refers to a trademark. Thank you for pointing that out. As mentioned in our earlier comment, our modification was based on the fact that the term KINEGRAM is protected and used for a different technology since the 1980ies. We have now reflected this by inserting a reference to divert interested readers to the corresponding article. Not mentioning this (“original”) KINEGRAM in Barrier-grid animation and stereography would provide readers with incomplete and potentially misleading information. --InaJac (talk) 09:29, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
- I'm confused by your use of "our" to refer to yourself. Wikipedia accounts are for individuals only, not groups. See WP:NOSHARING for more on this.
- I'll take a look at your edit. Article content needs to be on-topic. A pointer to a similarly named topic may be appropriate. Discussion of a different topic that happens to share the same name is not.--Srleffler (talk) 20:29, 21 November 2021 (UTC)
- Srleffler In order to avoid mistakes in the future, it would help me if you could explain to me in more detail why Kinegram does not seem relevant enough for an entry. In my opinion, there are entries on less interesting topics and with poorer sources. I just want to understand better. Thanks for the help!
- And regarding "our": I do not share the account. I only had some support in researching the sources, which led me to speak of "us", sorry. The account is only used by me. --InaJac (talk) 08:17, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
- I wasn't the one that proposed removal of the Kinegram article, but the complaint was that it had poor sourcing (not enough references to reliable sources) and it wasn't clear that it satisfies the General Notability Guideline. Small topics are often better covered in a broader article where they fit. Covering kinegrams in the article on Leonhard Kurz makes sense (although that article had problems of its own). Another option for covering kinegrams would be in a broad article on anticounterfeiting measures or authentication methods. That would be best handled by an unbiased editor, though, not a representative of the company that makes them. --Srleffler (talk) 06:54, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
