List of breweries in Indiana

edit

[I replied on my talk page, but just in case you aren't watching it, I've pasted my reply here. I'll see your reply in either space. ]

Hi. Yes, I did remove those because it was a list of redlinks and the edit came from an IP address with no other edits. Though I will say that they'd have probably been deleted anyway. Now that I'm aware of what you're working towards, so I'll won't delete the stuff you're doing so quickly, but in general the "List of breweries" pages are patrolled pretty tightly for redlinks and spam. I'm just one of four currently active people who watch those. So you might consider making the list in your sandbox, getting it in shape, and then pasting it in. You might also look at the other "List of breweries" pages as a guide, starting with List of breweries in Arkansas etc etc etc. Prof. Mc (talk) 14:18, 20 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

As a follow-up, I see you've put them back in, but without the redlinks. I think it's a good start. But someone else might come along and delete all those. It's probably worth it for you to put a note on the talk page that you're in the process of finding references for all of those breweries. That might hold off the deletions for a bit. I will add a note at the top... thank you helping a noob and fellow beer lover.  :)
Sure thing. A few bits and pieces: Indent your replies using the : mark. Each : is one indent, and helps format your replies. [I went ahead and added a pair of them to yours to make it indent.] Don't forget to sign your posts, otherwise the very embarrassing sinebot comes through and does it for you. Think about adding your name to the list of people at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Beer/participants. It's always good to have more people who care about beer, and care about getting good information out there. Maybe you'll find a niche you can help improve [like breweries and brewing in Indiana]. And always feel free to ask for help. A good place for that is on the Project talk page. Prof. Mc (talk) 14:32, 20 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

I removed your edit describing what you're up to. That should go on the article's talk page. Prof. Mc (talk) 14:33, 20 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Awesome... I will go add my name to the list of people right now. Yea, I added it to the talk page and forgot to remove it from the article. IndyHomeBrewer (talk) 14:41, 20 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to List of breweries in Indiana may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "[]"s. Reference on List of breweries in Indiana

edit

Hi! I wanted to check up on what you are trying to have happen with the ref link to the Brewers Guild of Indiana at the end of the list of breweries. You had it there at one point and I moved it to the "See Also" section because I thought you wanted it as a link for readers. But I may have made a mistake. If so I apologize. Are you trying to use it as a footnote for something? Or as a reference for something I'm not understanding? Anything I can do to help, please let me know. Right now the edit just appears as a number sitting on its own, at the end of the list.

Also, if you really want a long-term, thankless task, have a look at what Beer in Alabama or your neighbors in List of breweries in Illinois have done. Heh. Prof. Mc (talk) 12:46, 21 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

I was just referencing where I got the list from is all. I'll definitely check those out... IndyHomeBrewer
Ah, OK. That can go under the "See also." If you want to reference the breweries, and keep them from being deleted, each individual brewery would need a footnote referencing a media story that mentions the brewery. So, the existence of the brewery isn't enough to warrant its being listed. It needs to have some kind of notability (per WP:ORGIN). Check out some of the other lists for examples of how that's done.
