Managing a conflict of interest
editHello, Informer 96. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Elliot Fletcher, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. - FlightTime (open channel) 23:40, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
Hi FlightTime. I’ve spoken with moderators on wikipedia before about controlling the information on my own page and they felt that it was appropriate to give me the opportunity to correct it and have the final say. Some of the information is simply untrue. I assume you’re trying to help but I’m not sure you totally understand the weight of some of the words used. Please do your best to listen to trans people when they talk about their own experiences. Thank you. Informer 96 (talk) 23:53, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
Hi FlightTime,
I was able to log into my other account. This is Elliot Fletcher. Please respect the changes I make to my own wikipedia page. It is all still accurate information. I’m sure you know that the wikipedia pages for people who are transgender can get complicated. My best advice is just to listen to the trans person in the situation. I understand that you perhaps are coming for an informational place, but there are ways to post factual information without misrepresenting someone. Thank you.
