I am not autoconfirmed. I would like to place a photo on the page I created entitled Mark Pretorius and I need a little help in doing this. I would also like to know if the page meets the necessary requirements for release to the general public. Many thanks.

Hi, this issue is probably best resolved on a Wikipedia Live Help Chat Session so we can guide you through the process details are below Jamietw (talk) 10:26, 9 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
I've given you confirmed status, so you can upload images. It looks like you've got a good start on your article, but there are a few things to work on — the "Cymatic Theology" section borders on original research (something to be avoided in Wikipedia) and should have more secondary sources. More context on the topic would also help: what exactly is this field? Is it a fringe theory? Is anyone else working on it? The other main concern is to show that the subject meets Wikipedia:Notability (academics) — see the page for info. Finally, a couple technical points: the 'External references' should be called 'External links', and ~~~~ type signatures shouldn't be used in articles. Let me know if you have more questions. Thank you for the quick response. I have managed to upload the image. I have hopefully also changed the page content to conform to the requirements after reading the information on academics. Infrasupra (talk) 18:15, 9 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Nationality flags

edit

I have (again) removed the flag from Mark Pretorius per WP:FLAGBIO. Thanks. – ukexpat (talk) 13:45, 12 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Okay, I thought it was an error, and replaced it. Thanks for your help in cleaning up this page.

Removal of Notability tag

edit

If anyone can help, I would appreciate comments on the page I wrote for Mark Pretorius. I have sourced and made substantial changes to it, and I believe it now meets notability, i.e. criterion 4. Could someone please let me know what would be the process now, to have the tag removed?

Thanks,

File source problem with File:MarkP jpg.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:MarkP jpg.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 07:35, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

User talk:2.50.140.253 and your request to delete an article about yourself

edit

I removed your comment from this page. It's not your talk page, and even if it were it's not the place to request deletion of an article.

You wrote the article Mark Pretorius about yourself 9 years ago, and now you want to delete it. It's not that simple. You irrevocably granted Wikipedia the right to your contributions when you published them. Other editors have contributed to the article, and you have no control over the content in the article (assuming it is correct, appropriate, and sourced). That's one of the reasons that Wikipedia strongly recommends that people do not write autobiographies (see WP:YOURSELF). You may request deletion of the article at WP:AFD but you will have to provide valid reasons and convince other editors. "It's about me and I want it deleted" is not a valid reason. "I wrote it about myself, but I'm not really notable and I've changed my mind" sometimes works, but in this case others have contributed to it, and the article has been here for 9 years. You are by far the main contributor so this approach might work.

And why are you complaining about your year? You removed it 18 months ago, and no-one has restored it since. Why complain now?

Now that you have identified yourself as the subject of the article please follow WP:COI and do not edit the article yourself. Propose any changes on the article's talk page. Meters (talk) 06:47, 28 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Your complaint that "People have been using my information and posting it elsewhere" is again something that you have no control over. Content posted to Wikipedia is "freely distributable and reproducible". You own the copyright to what you wrote, but you have agreed to let others freely reuse it. Meters (talk) 07:07, 28 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Your tone, and the way you address people, is quite alarming and rude. I do pray that in time, you will come to know Jesus Christ as your lord and Saviour, and perhaps that will help you to change how you approach and address people. I was not rude to you, why be rude to me? Below is what was taken from my post before I deleted the date. If you type my name into Google, this comes up and was taken from Wikipedia.

Mark Pretorius is an evangelical theologian, philosopher and metaphysician. He holds the following degrees. A BTh, a BTh Hons, an M.A. in Biblical Studies, and a PhD in Systematic Theology. Wikipedia Born: April 1957 (age 63 years), South Africa Education: University of Pretoria Books: The Holy Spirit: A Systemised Study of the Spirit's Person and Work Fields: Theology, Philosophy, Metaphysics, Psychology (Infrasupra (talk) 09:56, 28 April 2020 (UTC))Reply

Sorry, but I don't see where I was rude to you. In fact, I went out of my way to help you by explaining what you did wrong and how you should handle the problem of the article. If you are not interested in my help then deal with it yourself. You wrote an article about yourself, and now you're not happy. As I pointed out, that's one of the reasons we don't recommend that people do that. Declare your conflict interest, and see if you can find someone on the article's talk page to help you. Do not edit the article directly. unless there is a WP:BLP violation or blatant vandalism.
And please keep your finding "Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour" wishes to yourself. I actually find that offensive. You have no idea what my religion is. Meters (talk) 08:48, 29 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
