I'm sure I could help. :) Have you "signed up" for the Wikiworldcup? I haven't done it before but I signed up to participate in this one. jj13720:46, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Well, obviously I haven't heard specifics yet, but I like the idea (with one setback). Usually when things like this (or similar to this) get set up, some random editor will come along and put it in MFD saying it's too bureaucratic, if you get the picture. Would it have some kind of set "guidelines" (like the WikiWorldCup does, for example based on number of edits, edit summaries, GAs, FAs, etc. except with admin stuff)? jj13720:59, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Looks good so far. Per what I said above about MFD, it shouldn't be just "your personal opinion of who's the best" (because probably lots of people would complain). For the image, yeah, you could just put it in the public domain, GFDL it, or whatever, your choice. jj13721:11, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Hmm... not sure. The first concern would be getting enough people, and the second would be random sysops running around going "I will destroy any possible signs of bureaucracy", if you see what I mean. (Yes, it can get annoying) jj13721:16, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
OK, I saw it. Not sure if you're allowed to use the admin mop (see the licensing); it would be nice to see a visual layout of this whole thing (still a little confused, but take your time). jj13721:36, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
That looks good. I'm kind of unsure what you mean by "admins have to explain why they deserve the trophy", though. jj13721:55, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
I want to thank Mrs.EasterBunny and Royalbroil for nominating me, those who updated the RfA tally, and everyone for their support and many kind words. To paraphrase a president ... I wish my mum and dad could see the comments made. My dad would be so proud to see the comments ... and my mum would have believed them". I will do my best to use the new tools carefully and responsibly (and you may be surprised to find that I have not deleted all of the pages by accident..... yet).

I made some copyediting fixes, but other than that, it looks good so far. When you say nominators are allowed to nominate a maximum of two people, is that per month? jj13700:13, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Looks good. It looks like you got it from the RfA page, so you may want to fix some of the text in the "nominate" section. :) jj137(talk)01:36, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
If you check my recent contribs you'll see everything I did. This isn't going to be too similar to RfA, is it? (You should probably go back and fix everything, you know more about this than I do) jj137(talk)01:56, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Not that I know of. For the questions, I have no idea, but I think the edit stats should at least play some part (but that's my opinion) jj137(talk)02:01, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
That's good. You might not have seen my note above about usurpations, which means you can get a "simple" username (one that's already taken). Just a suggestion, but I like the one you picked. :) jj137(talk)02:16, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
The article could use a few more major improvements. For example, there needs to be some info about the anime adaptation of the book on the book page. --Sharkface21702:40, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Scripts
Latest comment: 16 years ago4 comments1 person in discussion
I'm always working on a script that does a find and replace when you click a tab. Just wondering, do you have any suggestions for what it could do?
Also, I'm planning on writing a script for non-admins at WP:RFPP to very easily request pages (and possibly others for WP:UAA, WP:AIV, etc.) (at least for those who don't feel like using Twinkle, actually, it may be faster).
Image copyright problem with Image:Kennedy space center jets.jpg
Latest comment: 16 years ago2 comments2 people in discussion
Thank you for uploading Image:Kennedy space center jets.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
I have an idea, how about placing the sig in a subpage, and placing {{subst:User:Ohmpandya/whatever the subpage name is}} in the signature box. jj137(talk)21:05, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Really, it worked? :) I've always thought of trying that if I had a very long signature, but never actually tried it. jj137(talk)21:13, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Hmm... I probably think Edit 1 is better, because I think the extra flower is slightly distracting. But, of course, that's just my opinion. jj137(talk)03:39, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Right now I'm unsure what to do. Some admins don't like to get messages from random users (I know from personal experience). jj137(talk)03:49, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
If you create a subpage of the AOTM page with a specifically designed template (for the nominations), I can set it up (the preload). jj137(talk)22:37, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Remdoggg.jpg
Latest comment: 16 years ago1 comment1 person in discussion
Thanks for uploading Image:Remdoggg.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

The heard on the news (I think it was the Boston Globe that reported it) that he would still be able to play in the Super Bowl. jj137(talk)22:04, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
It is. About the edit count: 3000! I forgot about that. :) My high without using AWB at all is I think around 400-450. jj137(talk)22:07, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
I've done that before; usually when I'm editing (regular or AWB) I'm watching ESPN, ESPN2 or whatever sports game is on. jj137(talk)22:16, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Yes, that's annoying. I'll usually just check/glance at least every other edit or every few edits to make sure nothing wrong happened. jj137(talk)22:20, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Well, that's the tough part– just about every admin is fairly–very active, and a lot of which may be difficult to differentiate. jj137(talk)02:21, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Yes, he's good. Again, the thing is, what if we find out there's another admin we didn't "invite" that has better edit stats, or something like that? This is a challenging situation. jj137(talk)02:31, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
I don't know... that's the tough part. Do you think we should just take a rest from this whole thing for a few days? (don't worry, I'll still be thinking/searching) jj137(talk)03:04, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

What does it do? (sorry for being so inquisitive, but my monobook is insanely crowded as is, and bugs up if I try to change it) jj137(talk)03:11, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Aah, yes, I remember now! I tried it a few months ago, I remember, but couldn't get it to work. I can always give it another try. jj137(talk)03:16, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Can you please explain to me how you make these work? I have tried but so far I have been unsuccesful.
Latest comment: 16 years ago2 comments1 person in discussion
I know, I've created probably a thousand of them, and so has a few other people. About your monobook, that's just a bug; when you get a ton of stuff, sometimes you have to bypass your cache several times to make it work properly. jj137(talk)22:28, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Akai Rice, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Well, it says on the tag if you object to its deletion you can remove the tag, so if that's necessary, then you should. You should probably talk to the guy about it, maybe. jj137(talk)02:14, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Possibly... the guy was wrong when he says there were no refs to establish notability; there clearly is one, unless I can't see properly. jj137(talk)02:17, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Still mostly just a review by someone though... about the 12,000 edits: now I'm concerned whether or not running March 15 (or so) is the best idea. Lately, I've seen some RfAs get several opposes because they are basically in almost the same situation (a couple people waited three months and people still said it was too short of a time). :( jj137(talk)02:37, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

I have, but then again, how do I? I know JJ could help me launch one and I know a Chiefs fan that I stumbled upon the other day that could help me recruit members. How did you start your project up? Do I just go to the create a page and make a subpage? --HPJokerLeave me a message06:49, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi,
I know the more you delete others work the more likely you will climb the latter to adminship here, but maybe you should have used some common sense when deleting Mick Cooke. He is the manager of Monaghan United FC and there are several sources to verify the claim. As I argued on Finbar Prunty, if you delete him there will be thousands of small league managers and players to delete. At least be consistent. Here are the sources that 'verify' his existence.

I think that we should start assessing all of the articles within the scope of WP:CELTICS, like almost all other wikiprojects do. I've started on the players, and if you want to do anything, just tell me so I won't assess articles that you are assessing. STORMTRACKER9412:51, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

For the list, I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but I'll let you know if I do. One more question about the script before I create it: should it automatically assess too, or will you do that yourself (you probably should do that part yourself)? jj137(talk)16:33, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
What I mean if this I want to go visit a wikipedia article, but then want to use that new tool, I can just click on a link right there at the top? Like a shortcut? --HPJokerLeave me a message01:19, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

He just made a fade-away shot around the three point line when he was fouled. On FPC, my best guess would be only admins/very experienced and neutral non-admins can make the final decision. jj137(talk)01:35, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for voting in my RfA, which was unsuccessful with 19 support, 18 oppose, and 5 neutral. I have signed up for admin coaching and will retry later on in a couple more months.
