Blocking

edit

Despite my welcome, it was necessary to block your account for two related reasons. First, we permit a wide variety of usernames, but we do not permit usernames that sound like the name of an organization if that username is used to edit the the article about the organization. See our username policy here: Wikipedia:Username_policy

Second, you are introducing material into the article which is a direct copy of material from a copyrighted site. That is not permitted. In some cases, it may be appropriate to incorporate material from a copyrighted site but we need explicit written permission from the copyright holder. Please contact me if you need more information on this, although I don't think it's likely to be the right course of action in this case.--S Philbrick(Talk) 12:01, 7 July 2016 (UTC)--S Philbrick(Talk) 12:01, 7 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Requested username:

Decline reason:

That's an abbreviation that still appears to represent the organization. You need to choose a username that represents only yourself as an individual (real name not needed, just a nickname of some sort), though usernames of the form "name at organization" are also allowed. Please see Wikipedia:Username policy for more information. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 08:58, 5 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Also, for an unblock request to be considered, it would need to address the blatantly promotional material you tried to add. Wikipedia articles must be written from a neutral third-party perspective, and not written in a marketing style. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 09:02, 5 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Oh, and you'll need to address your copyright violations too. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 09:04, 5 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Finally (and sorry for this bit-wise response), as the block was back in 2016, please confirm whether you are the same person who was using this account back then. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 09:06, 5 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

In order to be considered for unblocking, you'll need to address your inappropriate editing. Yamla (talk) 13:09, 5 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

I intend to re-write the entire content as it is very biased, I wish to write from a third party view. All of the references and copyright will be altered/fixed. This is the same user as 2016, I have not logged in since to see the block.

Please advise how I can do this without you unblocking me from editing content? I wish to remove the in correct information and update as it's invalid and copyrighted.

You will have to get yourself unblocked before you can, for example, make the required disclosure on your user page. For that to happen, I suggest you make a new unblock request in which you address the full reasons for your block and your understanding of the problems, make a commitment to abide by the policies that have been linked, explain your connection with the Institute of Information Security Professionals, and convince a reviewing admin that you should be unblocked. As for the copyright violations you added, they have already been removed. If you see any copyright violation still in the article, feel free to quote it here and provide a link to the original source, and I (or someone else) will take a look at it.
