IP mistakenly blocked
Hi Yamla,
I'm CitizenZorro, a Wikipedian. Yesterday, after I didn't login here for some 9 months, I got the following email:
Someone (probably you) recently logged in to your account from a new device. If this was you, then you can disregard this message. If it wasn't you, then it's recommended that you change your password, and check your account activity.
Help Change password
It's true that I have new device now, 🙂
replaced the old one I was using because it falled to the water. So i didn't really pay much attention to that.
But after few minutes I got a message that was saying "the IP I'm using" was blocked by you. 🙄
I didn't understand what is that, So i had logged out and in again and there was no blocking at that moment and I successfully made some edits.
Today, I was just reading some articles on Wikipedia (without logging) and I had suddenly again got blocking messages 🙄 but now, when I'm with my user everything is OK and I don't see any blocking.
Can you tell me please what is that? I think that I have some connection problem with my internet network at home, and that my "IPS" are changing all the time.
Even I'm still not so sure of that, I need to check with them.
Just want to make sure it's a one mistake, and that the IP you have blocked is of someone else.
Thank you and best regards. 🙏 CitizenZorro (talk) 12:11, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- Lots of blocks only apply to logged-out editors. Also, lots of Internet service providers frequently change IP addresses for their customers. There's nothing suspicious going on here. --Yamla (talk) 12:17, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- It was a little bit strange to me, because as i said i didn't login here for some 9 months and surely didn't make any edits from IP number.
- I think it's more of thing that I need to check with my internet network, I don't have a good connection lately.
- It's surely effect the IP also. CitizenZorro (talk) 12:51, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
