HaughtonBrit harassing and trolling other users
Here he is falsely calling unblocked users-Leviathan12 sockpuppets in his edit summaries-[1]. Someone needs to do something about this harassement and trolling. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 14:04, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
@Yamla:He is the one falsely calling me sock of HaughtonBrit. You can investigate and it will be proven without any benefit of doubt that users Leviathan12 and Monabhaii are none other than socks of KamalAghan01 [2]. Same interest in articles that were vandalized by socks of KamalAfghan01. Quick check will prove it. Suthasianhistorian8 is quite familiar with these socks and deliberately trying to prevent from this findings. This user needs to stop his harassment of other users.
- This is too big for me to reasonably handle. Please take it to one of the noticeboards. --Yamla (talk) 14:33, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks Yamla. Done-[3]. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 14:57, 14 January 2024 (UTC)

Hello
Hello Yamla I would like to thank you for helping unblock me along with Deepfriedokra. I have started to make more edits. I just found a source and added it to John Spink's page. Thank you so much. PrincessJoey2024 (talk) 01:00, 19 January 2024 (UTC)

- I think people just assume they can spam Wikipedia with their marketing material. When they get blocked, they assume it's a mistake. Surely they are allowed to spam, after all they are marketers. Ssg0786
This 2-days old account is gaming the system for extended confirmed right.[4] He is edit warrring[5][6] to restore edits of a sock which you blocked recently.[7]
Consider checking him, and nevertheless block for gaming of system.
The suspected sockmaster is back to abusing this IP range for making the same edits as above[8] and making other similarly repitive edits[9][10] after getting blocked on his another IP range by Materialscientist.
Both IP ranges are abused by this sockmaster as clear with these edits:[11][12]
Some of it's IPs are already blocked for block evasion.[13]
Kindly block this range too. Thanks! Ratnahastin (talk) 04:23, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
- I've blocked Ssg0786 (which is considerably older than two days). Please take the rest to WP:SPI or to WP:AIV. --Yamla (talk) 21:00, 23 January 2024 (UTC)

Disruptive article creation
Can you look at Ranjith001? They have been repeatedly recreating articles that have end up getting drafted. See Draft:Pulivalam (Tiruchirappali) 1 ,Draft:Pulivalam (Tiruchirappali) Draft:Ariyanadu ,Draft:Airyurnadu 1. Aswell as Draft:Malayan_Balakumar, see repeatedly recreated and now salted Malayan Balakumar. Ratnahastin (talk) 14:00, 31 January 2024 (UTC)

At User talk:LWANSTAR you said that zerogpt had told you that the unblock request was AI-written. It's not important, but I thought I'd mention that I think you meant GPTZero. ZeroGPT generates AI-faked pictures. JBW (talk) 11:53, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

User Mondschein Block
HI, I am User Mondschein. I have been blocked since moving to California because, apparently, my "IP address range belongs to Forcepoint Cloud Services"... What does that mean? and what is so bad about "Forcepoint Cloud Services"? Isn't that new name of "Websense"? I get my Internet connection directly from Xfinity/Comcast... I bought a Router at Best Buy in order to have WiFi and direct the signal to all the rooms in the house both upstairs and downstairs... What gives? Can you please help me understand?
Mondschein — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:644:8E80:73FA:0:0:0:69 (talk) 23:12, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
- Forcepoint Cloud Services functions as a proxy. You need to disable your proxy and wait a full 24 hours for the block to clear. Note this IP address, 2601:644:8E80:73FA:0:0:0:69, is not owned by Forcepoint. This IP address is not blocked. --Yamla (talk) 11:49, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
- Alright, we are getting somewhere, thanks! How do I disablemy Proxy? And what is a Proxy exactly? Is it something that stops people from seeing where I am connected from?

Proxy?
Hi. I'm pretty sure that this is a proxy-[14]. It shows a bogus ISP of Agile Networks and is being operated by a well know block evader who is known to geolocate to Pennsylvania when he edits logged out. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 00:56, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
- I see no evidence this is a proxy, based on several services I use to check this sort of thing. It may have been when you made the report (I was away, without access to Wikipedia). --Yamla (talk) 14:53, 22 February 2024 (UTC)

Potential sockpuppet
Greetings, Yamla. Unfortunately, there is an individual who I think is a sock puppet account of Entuziazm. Their name is NukeTheKatzapstan.
Aside from the obviously racist username (Katsap being an ethnic slur for Russians), they have joined one day ago and have made disruptive edits in regards to various Soviet figures. For example, in the Viktor Zhdanov page, he changed the nationality of the figure from Soviet to Ukrainian and removed the Russian-language form of his name.
Please investigate this individual whenever you have time. Thanks. 199.7.156.229 (talk) 18:11, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
- Please file a report at WP:SPI. Thanks! --Yamla (talk) 18:56, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
Hi, I just blocked Hector Kennedy as a sock of the above. I stumbled across Hector and Viktor Kennedy when reviewing the speedy deletion request of Titto P Thankachen, an article previously created by a Jhonny sock. Based on both editors' involvement in the article and the obvious username similarity, I looked at their edits. I wasn't convinced they were the same person, but I was convinced the Hector was a sock of Mark Jhonny. Here is an EIA of the two users + Kelee Nayak, a Jhonny sock. Anyway, from my non-CU perspective, all the Jhonny accounts are stale, but I was wondering if you could compare Hector and Viktor to see if they are likely to be the same person? Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:25, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

Philodemous
Hi, you confirmed the socks in Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of Philodemous. There's a new account, Leftsupercazzola, who has edited Talk:Herculaneum papyri. I suspect they may be a sock, but there are some differences, making me reluctant to block without technical confirmation. See the latest at User Talk:Bbb23#Sockpuppet of Philodemous/VitoMocella68 for more on my misgivings. I do think there's enough to check, though. If you agree... --Bbb23 (talk) 16:35, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Reverts on Canadian politics articles
Hi Yamla, can you explain why you reverted changes on these articles (e.g. 35th Canadian Parliament, List of Canadian electoral districts (1996–2003), List of Canadian electoral districts (1987–1996))? It seems like it is related to a sockpuppet investigation, but your reverts instead have created tons of links to disambiguation pages. Courtesy ping to @Rodw: who has been doing these fixes. Natg 19 (talk) 18:43, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
- So it seems that your reverts could "work" if we undid all the changes that the sockpuppet did but currently it leads to tons of dab links. Natg 19 (talk) 18:47, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
- The reverts were to two abusive sockpuppeteers, one in particular (Moatassemakmal) who is known for deliberately introducing false information and who admitted to trolling this subject area recently (presumably with hard-to-find false information). I couldn't think of a better way than to revert all the contributions I found. Anything I can do to help with the disambiguation links? --Yamla (talk) 19:25, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
- If you go to your preferences (drop down list top right) & then gadgets tab & scroll down to "Appearance" & then put a tick next to "Display links to disambiguation pages in orange" it will show you all the links to dab pages. Any help fixing them appreciated.— Rod talk 20:05, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'll get a start on that shortly. --Yamla (talk) 20:06, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
- Did you mean Ebbedlila? I see no indication Moatassemakmal is involved with those pages. Natg 19 (talk) 20:34, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
- Ah, I see, there were IP editors on some articles adding information. Natg 19 (talk) 20:39, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
- (ec; yes, IP address contributions) I assure you Moatassemakmal was involved with those pages, and is the central concern here. Basically everything coming from an Egyptian IP address to a Canadian politics site is him, and has been for the better part of a decade. See for example, this admission. I have a long history with this particular WP:LTA; nothing he contributes should be trusted. But yes, also Ebbedlila. --Yamla (talk) 20:40, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
- Ah, I understand now, there were IP editors on some articles adding false information. Unfortunately, the reverts also undo Ebbedlila's link changes to riding pages which need to be disambiguated. I was confused who you were saying as the sock master, as Ebbedlila also got blocked recently for sockpuppetry. I'll help with these dab changes as well. Natg 19 (talk) 20:39, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Strange user page creation
Hey, it looks like someone created a user page for a vandal blocked since October 2023 (with a long-inactive talk page) to add the banned user template. Made me raise an eyebrow and figured I'd drop you a message here, as the blocking admin, to see if it's anything worth checking out. Schrödinger's jellyfish ✉ 02:39, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know. I truly don't understand why users ever do this. A recently blocked vandal, sure, but why tag accounts blocked months or even years ago? --Yamla (talk) 12:28, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
- This is probably just a touch of overzealousness on my end (and smack me if this isn't AGF), but the overlapping interest in sports mascots and interest in counter vandalism as a new user (but to be fair I got interested pretty early on!), plus the registration shortly after the block, got some gears turning. It's nothing concrete enough to file a SPI for, I think their only actual editing overlap was at Little Einsteins. Phönedinger's jellyfish II (talk) 02:53, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

IP blocked for "disruptive editing"
Hey Yamla! You recently blocked the IP I'm at for making "disruptive edits". Would you be able to explain? The only edits I've recently made while not logged in have been small grammatical fixes, and have not been rolled back on their respective pages, so I'm having trouble with them being construed as "disruptive". Pecklesteiner (talk) 15:17, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- It is not possible for me to answer this without you telling me the IP address involved. --Yamla (talk) 15:21, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- OK. Is there any way to do that more privately than a talk page? Pecklesteiner (talk) 15:23, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- Yes. You can email it to me. I won't respond to the email, but I will respond here without disclosing your IP address. --Yamla (talk) 15:25, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not seeing the "email this user" button. (My apologies for the bother, and thanks for responding so far.) Pecklesteiner (talk) 15:38, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- Try Special:EmailUser/Yamla. --Yamla (talk) 15:40, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- The IP address you provided me is not blocked and has never been. Perhaps you gave me the wrong IP address? I need the IP address specifically blocked for making "disruptive edits". You can see the block log by going to Special:Log/block and then entering the IP address in the Target field. --Yamla (talk) 15:55, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- Definitely the right address. I submitted a block appeal too, and it's the same address. This is really curious. Now I log back out, it no longer says the IP is blocked.
- I'm not sure what happened. Anyway, sorry for all the bother, and kudos to you for taking the time out of the day to talk to me about it! Pecklesteiner (talk) 16:16, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

"IPSharkk proxy" block
I got an unblock request denied because "[the] IP address is part of the IPSharkk proxy network". However, this was the IP I got by a mobile phone sharing its data connection. The phone's owner does not know about any such proxy, so what is this about? Was it a device that previously got the address that is an open proxy? The address is part of the Elisa NAT range, so any IP assignment is probably short-lived.
Can you give me a pointer or explain how you came to the conclusion that this is an IPSharkk proxy?
- LPfi 19:54, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
(This is about this IP. - LPfi 20:02, 5 March 2024 (UTC))
- I came to the conclusion using spur.us and possibly ipqualityscore (I forget if I checked the latter). These proxies are significantly problematic to us. I get several death threats a day due to their widespread abuse so am generally not inclined to lift the blocks early, absent evidence the proxies have been shut down. --Yamla (talk) 20:45, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- Keeping the block after the IP has been reassigned doesn't seem very useful. Can you confirm that the address is still a proxy? If it is, then that phone owner has some tough thinking to do (so I really would like to know). –LPfi (talk) 21:27, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- My scans show it no longer is. When I checked earlier today, the tools I used (apart from nmap, which I didn't run) indicated it was functioning as a proxy. They no longer make that claim. Note that I occasionally see proxies shut down during the unblock request, only to fire up immediately afterward. As you point out, that's less likely to happen on an IP address like this, which is likely to be reallocated very quickly. I have lifted the block. --Yamla (talk) 21:31, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- Can you check 85.76.43.80, which seems to be the phone's new IP? If it was the culprit, then we have to do something. –LPfi (talk) 21:38, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- The tools, including Nmap, say it is clear. --Yamla (talk) 21:47, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Achmad Rachmani. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, List of football clubs in Indonesia, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Please do not add a number of clubs for each province. Achmad Rachmani (talk) 15:05, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Achmad Rachmani This did need reverted, but you should probably check the page history for context and realize that Yamla was cleaning up edits from a banned user. Sometimes a little dirt accidently gets restored. -- ferret (talk) 15:26, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
Suspicious account
Is the 2016 sleeper account committing random reverts that did <this edit> suspicious enough that you would be willing to check it?
Although sure the warning summaries are different, and the warnings are level 1 like earlier (not like the last couple sleeper accounts).

Hello! Asking permission to send an email about COI
I have high reason to belive an account is connected to a IRL person who wrote the page, but as I do NOT want to break WP:OUTING I dont want to post their full info. Can I send you an email? Thanks again and have a great day Ask me about air Cryogenic air (talk) 16:15, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- The best approach is to follow Wikipedia:Paid-contribution_disclosure#Reporting_undisclosed_paid_editors and send the evidence via the email address listed there. If you don't want to, you are welcome to email me but note that I would not block based solely on off-wiki evidence, so you may have better luck with the paid-contribution disclosure email. :) --Yamla (talk) 17:13, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
Your message on my talk page
Hi Yamla, you put a Conflict of Interest box on my talk page. I haven't the slightest idea why, so I thought I'd ask directly? Thanks, --Steffen (talk) 17:08, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
- In your UTRS request, you indicated you planned to write about a subject for which you were directly involved. I can't go into great detail as UTRS requests are private. There's no problem with your proposed edit, but you must declare your conflict of interest as per WP:COI. --Yamla (talk) 17:12, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, that's interesting. I got a mail but didn't file that UTRS request and therefore didn't verify the appeal thinking somebody used the wrong username in his request. I'll have a look into this tomorrow. Thanks! --Steffen (talk) 21:55, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
- Your claim is bizarre but indeed seems to be accurate. This particular UTRS request didn't seem to be anything unusual, it's hard to understand why someone would have faked it. But again, this does indeed appear to be the case. My apologies. You are free to remove my warning from your talk page if you wish. :) --Yamla (talk) 22:00, 15 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi Yamla,
Rawsar6, an account you recently declined an unblock to for racism, has suggested they will edit via an IP despite their block. Please keep an eye on them, I feel like they may try to evade their block. Thanks, Mseingth2133444 (talk/contribs) 23:25, 19 March 2024 (UTC)

You were the blocking admin for this user previously, you might want to revisit a longer block. See Special:Contributions/That_guy_who_plays_games for inspired page moves and unexplained section blankings. –Fredddie™ 16:32, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- Essentially déjà vu all over again (sigh)... why won't they learn at all? NoobThreePointOh (talk) 16:40, 22 March 2024 (UTC)

- I'm extremely confused on whether the edits they're doing are either disruptive or just simply edit warring itself. I can agree with a longer temporary block on edit warring (since that's the normal block policy for admins), but I don't know about the length of a disruptive block. I'm guessing that it would be indefinite. NoobThreePointOh (talk) 18:11, 22 March 2024 (UTC)

Inappropriate means of handling image removal
We allow limited use of copyrighted images per the WP:NFC policy, so your deletion of File:Clementine walking dead.png claiming it was a copyvio is inappropiate. If you do not believe WP should have such an image, you are supposed to take the image to WP:FFD. Do note that I have expanded the non-free rationale as over the years editors have whittled it down, it needed more support, but this is a completely reasonable case of an image we would keep. — Masem (t) 12:07, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- Noted. Thank you for restoring the file and expanding the non-free-use rationale, I sincerely appreciate it. --Yamla (talk) 12:09, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
Trying to edit a company page
Hi Yamla, you kindly dealt with my Username block a few days ago when I was updating the Simprints page. I wanted to ask for some advice please...
I would like to update the page of the company I work for - Simprints - as it is very out of date and there have been many developments that readers would find interesting and beneficial that are currently not included on the page.
I tried to make all the changes under the Username Simprints, which I didn't realise wasn't allowed and I also didn't know that I needed to declare COI and that I was updating the pages as part of my job (therefore paid to do so). This was my mistake and I appreciate the chance to learn how to use Wikipedia correctly. Thanks for your patience and help!
I'm now in a predicament... There is no one external person to our team who is likely to update the page. I had requested some edits but they are really far down the queue and I am worried that they won't be picked up for weeks. And then the next request can be added, and so on. Appreciate they are being worked on by volunteers (thanks, again, to the Wikipedia team).
What would you advise is the best way forward to update the page quickly? Is it ok practice for another member of the team to declare their COI and update the page directly? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sima Bodalikar (talk • contribs) 12:22, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
I would be so grateful for your steer on this. Once the page is up to date, it will be a valuable resource to people who are interested in the topic of Biometrics and impactful not for profit organisaitions.
With thanks in advance Sima Sima Bodalikar (talk) 12:16, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- You are taking the correct approach, suggesting changes on the article's talk page. I'm afraid these things take time. See WP:DEADLINE (which Masem indirectly reminded me of, above). Please don't have your coworkers set up other accounts to directly edit the article; see WP:MEAT. Note also that this is not your company's page, this is an article about your company. That's two very different things. If you aren't clear, please ask. --Yamla (talk) 12:21, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- Also, all of the changes I made are in the history, so is it possible for someone to check those and revert them back? Happy to discuss anything you would like to verify if this option is possible. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sima Bodalikar (talk • contribs)
- You should ask on the article talk page. Note that at least some of your edits were inappropriate so it's very unlikely all your edits would be reinstated, but possible that at least some of them would be, in time. --Yamla (talk) 12:25, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply, @Yamla. I will wait patiently in the queue and I do appreciate all the work the Wikipedia volunteers are doing. Point noted about this being an Article about the company.
- Is there a way to know when the Edit request has been picked up by someone? Or if it has been accepted/rejected etc? Sima Bodalikar (talk) 12:28, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- You can monitor the article and article talk page. On my desktop browser, I do that by clicking the star icon, it should be similar for you. You can then watch for changes at Special:Watchlist. --Yamla (talk) 12:33, 27 March 2024 (UTC)

- But I've been in talks with this user over the course of their block to get them on the right track, and to help them through the appeal process. I would like to assure you that they are not trying to pester; they are simply confused by the process at times. As am I... but it's new waters for me.
