User talk:Iryna Harpy/Donetsk Luhansk
Well, this might be a lot of work, but I think I have an idea, if you can educate me on how to work this template. We've got Module:Location map/data/Ukraine Donetsk Oblast, meaning that we can make this template work with the oblast maps. Luhansk doesn't have a module, apparently, but I found the appropriate map on the Commons, File:Lugansk province location map.svg. What I'd like to do is create two separate maps, one for Luhansk and one for Donetsk, and transfer the dots onto those maps. That will make them more readable and accurate. I don't really know how to transfer the coordinates, though, and I also don't know how to create the module for the Luhansk map. I'd be happy to do the work myself, if you could explain how the template works. RGloucester — ☎ 06:21, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- Eep! I'm just about to log off for the day as I'm going out this evening. I'll post links to the relevant templates here in a moment. If you have any trouble working things out, I'll get onto it tomorrow. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 06:27, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- Essentially, it's based on the overlay template, but substituting marks with triangle images representing the population ratio per kilometre with various sizes (according to the population density, obviously). You could probably use the template as is. Good luck! --Iryna Harpy (talk) 06:42, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- Okay. I managed to get the two separate maps set-up. The problem is, I can't tell which cities are in which oblast. If possible, would you mind translating the rest of the cities (perhaps sort them by Oblast)? Then I can add them to the new maps. RGloucester — ☎ 22:35, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
- I'll get onto it ASAP, Richard. I'm formatting my new computer and trying to get some overdue housework done IRL. A (not so) young woman's work is never done. Wish I had an old-fashioned wife instead of an old-fashioned husband. Sigh. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 06:56, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
