Cooper Union financial crisis and tuition protests

Hello. Your edit to this article restored categories that another editor had added, but which I deleted. I deleted them because the article is already in the category "Cooper Union", and since this "parent" category is included in the categories "Education", "New York City" and "Universities and colleges", the "child" article is considered to be included in them as well, so there is no need -- and, indeed, goes against our usual procedures for categorization -- to have those categories on the "Financial crisis" article. I disagree with you and agree with user "checkingfax". I wish User:zzuuzz would let us have this conversation on the article's talk page.. The "financial crisis and tuition protests" have been ongoing for several years and broach issues that affect Education, New York City, etc. in a way that the main Cooper Union article does not. What about this "goes against our usual procedures for categorization"? Are you a wikipedia admin? Your help in persuading zzuuzz to allow us to have this discussion inside the article's talk page is appreciated so that issues can be referenced more easily. The above user is right. It's hard to see how it could be placed directly in a category like Education, unless everything was placed in there. It belongs in a subcategory. "tuition is rising nationwide", fees I presume you mean, has nothing to do with it. Furthermore, the protest is not a "Universities and colleges", so it doesn't belong directly in that category either. I asked Admin User:zzuuzz. Also I only started editing wikipedia today, and I try to avoid petty arguments whenever possible. Is there a reason your talk page is protected and why it says "ignore all rules"? IvritSheli (talk) 01:27, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

As an admin I often look up to non-admins who have survived to be longstanding regular editors, in whose service I employ the tools I can see. This category discussion is a non-starter. It's a misunderstanding which is not likely to happen again in the near future. Was there some other discussion? -- zzuuzz ^(talk) 01:34, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

@Ferociouslettuce: I'll tell you exactly what's going on. You think that if you make a new ID, and come here and behave very politely and be completely non-confrontational, you'll be allowed to edit again. Unfortunately for you, it doesn't work like that. Once you are blocked, you cannot edit until you are unblocked. Period. End of discussion. The only way you can edit Wikipedia again is to get yourself unblocked, and, since your talk page access was cut off, the only way to do that is to contact WP:UTRS or WP:BASC. They can decide to unblock you, or decide to bring your case to the community. Your sneaky attempts at subterfuge are not only amateurish, they're useless - you will not be allowed to edit until you are unblocked. BMK (talk) 01:37, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

The above user is right again. I am personally happy to offer leeway to resolve issues if there is something horribly wrong with a page, and I'll listen to any rational relevant complaint, but there comes a point (sometimes early on) when it's obvious that's not the case. The talk page remains semi-protected due to irrelevant agenda-driven discussions from sockpuppets (as described earlier). -- zzuuzz ^(talk) 01:44, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

User:zzuuzz I respect your decision with regard to categories, but I believe if this discussion transpired inside the talk page of the article in question, these issues wouldn't come up again. I also feel the "CU administration views" section should be updated to reflect the views of admin currently in charge. I respect that you look up to certain non-users, but Beyond My Ken is very angry and not making much sense here. Lastly, I thought you said the New York City category is only "probably" not appropriate, so I'm a little bit confused as to why you now consider the entire conversation to now be a non-starter and why you do not feel other conversations should also be started. If I don't see this sockpuppeteer again, I will cast an independent eye over it. Independent = I'm not even American and have never otherwise heard of this place. I said probably for New York City, because I didn't even bother to open the category. I can tell you with some certainty that it will be filled with subcategories like 'Education in New York', where there'll be a subcategory for Colleges (and so on), and Politics (and so on). But a single protest is not a feature of New York. Articles do not generally live in 'top-level' categories. -- zzuuzz ^(talk) 01:58, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
