What vandalism is not

edit

Just a heads up; there is a difference between vandalism and linkspam/POV/original research. Please make sure you note that you are removing in liey of deeming it "rv vandalism", because that does several things:

  • It may drive away users with potential
  • It forces us administrators to determine if it is vandalism and if an official warning/block must be given
  • It may cause unnecessary conflict if the user thinks that he was being productive.

For more information, please see WP:VANDAL. Thanks. — Deckiller 03:43, 24 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Okay then, I'll bear that in mind. Thanks for telling me. J.J.Sagnella 08:09, 24 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

What happened to...

edit

Mining (RuneScape)? I was editing it up to a few weeks ago and when I checked back it had disappeared. I know it's probably been deleted, but you're heavily involved with most of the RS articles so I just thought I'd ask you if you know why it was removed, or where the reasons are found?

Thanks for your help.Bronzey 05:13, 1 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately the mining, woodcutting and fishing and armour articles were up for afd. Armour survived but the rest got deleted. It really is a shame they got deleted. If you want the link to the afd it is here.J.J.Sagnella 08:06, 1 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ahh. Oh well, thanks for the info. Bronzey 10:22, 1 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Articles missing?

edit

On This AFD you removed the sign and put a "survived afd" tag on the talk page. But there were other articles included in that decision at the top of the page. If it's not too much to ask, could you go and remove the tags from all of them. Thank you for your assistance. J.J.Sagnella 06:33, 9 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

pointless changing

edit

On my user page (user: fwed66) you pointlesly changed [[runescape]] (no capitals) to RuneScape, runescape being a redirect, i thank you; but i would prefer you discuss changes to my user page in the discussion. Not a complatint just some constructive criticism. fwed66 17:18, 10 July 2006 (GMT)

Though I see your point, I stand by my decision. Articles should not link to redirects (that is one of my pet peeves). If you had a ny problem with it, you could of easily reverted it and I would of been forced to discuss it with you on your talk page. J.J.Sagnella 16:50, 10 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please let me edit it again

edit

From: (user: kymykaly) : I`ll edit RuneScape Mini-games again and give me a message if i did something wrong ... and dont delete it again ... correct it ... it`s in the spirit of Wikipedia :P

I usually do, but large edits like the one you made were pretty much beyond correcting. If you want, I'll stop reverting but.. do try and not use original research or use that nasty 3 letter y word-you. J.J.Sagnella 05:56, 11 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

The old man in Runescape who robbed the bank

edit

The old man who robbed the bank is an NPC? I don't play Runescape, but my cousin was one of the people who witnessed the bank robbery (and has it recorded on Hypercam). Are you sure this guy is an NPC? WhisperToMe 04:24, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I can confirm it was an NPC. I can give you this quote:"Bank:

Draynor Bank was once robbed by the Wise Old Man who lived just opposite from it. Talk to the Bank Guard outside and he will show you footage of it happening. Up a tree to the west of the bank there is also a guard who is keeping an eye on the Wise Old Man. " J.J.Sagnella 06:02, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Shadoom is not GM

edit

On the disscusion part of the Runescape construction article, you implied that you considered Shadoom1 (me) to be the same person as GM, that is not true, the reason that we have the same IP is because me and him/her attend the same school and have (apparently) been assined the same computer, unless he has somehow changed his IP to be the same as my schools (which I think would be impossible). I am doing every thing I can to stop him insulting people and I appoligise that he/she used my (former) article as a reason to insult people Shadoom1 01:30, 13 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Okay, apologies if any confusion arose and I hope you can get it sorted soon. J.J.Sagnella 06:03, 13 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Good image tagging

I been trying to clean up that mess of RuneScape images.--Andeh 09:03, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Excuse me? Mess is not the word for that. They are all useful image, but there are a few too many. So we need to delete some for RuneScape's chances of being a featured article. J.J.Sagnella 09:10, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well too many have been uploaded then not used, then forgotten about.

—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Andypandy.UK (talkcontribs).

I'm still upset with how you've described them. People have put a lot of work in them, and at the very least you can tag/delete them civilly. Resolving to calling them "a mess" is not acceptable from anyone, let alone someone trying to be an adminstrator. J.J.Sagnella 09:27, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Staffs Not Staves.JPG)

edit
  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Staffs Not Staves.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Andeh 09:20, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Quite honestly, I don't see why you removed the video I posted in the Amish Paradise article. True it was not an original music video created by "Weird Al" Yankovic; but by the same token, neither is the WOW one ... which you left up. Sorry, I'm just really confused here. If I broke some rule on this site that I'm unaware of, please inform me... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.133.40.194 (talkcontribs).

I missed that one. The rules of Wikipedia say that pretty much no things like that can get linked to. I take your point, and will remove that WOW one as well. J.J.Sagnella 21:06, 18 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Runescape, eh?

edit

Sorry 'bout that. I personally don't care too much (though appearances may lead you to think... the exact opposite) about the whole fansite thing. A bunch of people from Zybez started discussing it. Don't be suprised if some people with little knowledge of Wikipedia (less than me, even!) try to come in and change it all. I'm trying to explain it to them, but they don't seem to want to listen.
Just trying to what's best for Wikipedia, which is hard when all your friends are telling you to do the exact opposite. :-P -Boss1000 14:32, 19 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes there is. Wikipedia has specific guidelines as to who gets a page and who doesn't. I'm afraid you haven't done anything notable enough to warrant yourself an article in the main namespace, but if you want me to, I could show you how you can create a small userpage like the one I've got. Lying about XS eh?

edit

I'm still angry about that...that you called me a liar, and yet the same day you go behind my back and write the same thing. Maybe you should think before you speak (or type), because maybe it doesn't have any google hits because they weren't announced yet. There's your mistake, and if you don't believe me check out my user talk page, and I will tell you. I was right, you falsely accused me, and you can either remain quiet, or you can suck it up like a normal human being and apologize. Do the right thing. Ya right. Linktriforce007 13:10, 14 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Of Course, I have to admit to getting that wrong. When I saw the Kazuso Atom on Xiaolin Showdown, I relaised I was wrong and I must admit I am very sorry. The problem was, over here In Britain, there's like a 2-month period from US debut to UK debut and I really didn't know the difference. The article does sometimes get "fake" Shen gong-wu and it unfortunately looked like a fake one, so I reverted it, even though I admit I shouldn't of. As of that, I realised my mistake and have stopped editing Xiaolin Showdown articles because of that. J.J.Sagnella 16:07, 14 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

RS Fan sites (non) debate

edit

Hi JJ, about this business, is there a direct link to the rule stating that one fan site only is allowed? Quoting it in the text and then linking to your sub-page would give both the reason and the thinking behind accepting that reason available right at the top of the talk-page.

I was.. well, horrified to see my text on that page too, the idea that I could say something quotable is.. strange to me I guess, but thinking about it I guess it says what needs to be said. Can I edit this some? I'd like to reword/hack away some so it gets to the point better, it's a point worth making considering all the work that these discussions create.

If you have a look at the link to the memo I've posted on the talk page (about corporate spam), I think this is the start of WP throwing off the gibberish being thrown onto it every day. That being so, concentrating less on these discussions and more on patching up these poor wee sub-articles is going to result in relevant info being kept. The AFDs may have stopped for now, but they're going to be back again if some serious chopping and shoring doesn't start to happen. Anyhow, thanks for your input on this subject and your work on the RS series. QuagmireDog 21:24, 3 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Okay then. for the rule, choose from either link (and say that it is number 3, or text "On articles about topics with many fansites, including a link to one major fansite may be appropriate, marking the link as such. Fanlistings are generally not informative and should not ordinarily be included. "

And if you want to edit the page, feel free, as the saying goes, many hands make light work. J.J.Sagnella 06:37, 4 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Numa Numa: The Movie

edit

J.J. -- or whatever your name is

You have deleted my contribution to the Numa Numa page twice. Enough is enough. You claim it is because the videos have less than 20,000 views each. Far from the truth. The original submission of NumaSquared got 17,000 hits in a single day and amassed 45,000 over a span of two months before being accidentely deleted. Since then it has gained back 17,500 and should hit 75,000 by the end of the year. Put it back up.

I'm afraid to be quite honest, 45,000 or even 200,000 for that matter really doesn't mean that it can have a spot on Wikipedia. If it had say, 500,000 views then there would be some reasoning, but quite simply, unless it is considered very notable on it's grounds (eg. if we asked someone who knows a bit on numa numa and they knew about the video then it could stay) but as it isn't, I'm afraid it isn't notable enough to be on Wikipedia. Hi, first off welcome to Wikipedia and I hope you have a good time, Secondly, I'm sorry about this but Wikipedia is trying to make good articles. Very good articles, worthy of matching Brittanica (or any other Encyclopedia for that matter) on proffesionalism. The Whole article should be basically like a giant answer to the question; What is (Page's name)? Things like what a pker is may be summed up in a sentence or two, but there is a sensible limit as to how much depth we need to go into on any article. J.J.Sagnella 21:09, 22 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

RuneScape gods vandalism revert

edit

When you made this vandalism revert, something wierd happened. Another article about a Nepalese IRC network was copied into it, instead of it reverting back to the unvandalised version. Any idea what happened? CaptainVindaloo t c e 23:38, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've had a look at it and I can truly say I'm baffled. There were 3 possibilities for what happened:
  1. I reverted back to it, but it isn't in the history anywhere.
  2. I copied and pasted it instead of reverting it, but I have my browser of pasteable things cleared before I use wikipedia.
  3. It's tracking where I went or put up for deletion, but I have never visited nor edited that article about Crapnet IRC.

So to wrap up, I don't have a clue what happened. J.J.Sagnella 07:44, 2 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

RuneScape revert

edit

I'm a bit upset that you just reverted a change I made to the RuneScape article. I explained the reason for my edit and you changed it back without even explaining why or talking about it first! All you did was (silently) reintroduce a mistake that I'd just corrected which isn't very helpful. It's definetely the way around I've put it. I'm sure Andrew was at Uni at 1998 because it said so on his university homepage! I've changed it back to be correct, please don't revert it again. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by runefire (talkcontribs).

Sorry about that, that was my fault. If I had to predict what I did wrong, I probably changed the details about the quest numbers in a previous version of the page, correcting it and reverting at the same time. Sorry about that, you were right. J.J.Sagnella 16:09, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

New good articles and featured articles
Good articles and featured articles are a great way to see what major acomplishments we have made over the last quarter.

Good articles

Featured articles
None this quarter!

Role call
We ask that within a month, all members sign our role call to show that they are still active participants in the project. More information is available on the role call page.
Major news
WikiProject RuneScape, our former child project, was moved to become a task force of this project in January as it had a small scope but the task force is still going strong to this very day.

This past quarter marks the beginning of our new collaboration system MMOGCM. Past collaborations thus far have been World of Warcraft and MMORPG, both of which made it to GA status while it was the MMOGCM.

As well, we now have an Outreach Department which works on this newsletter as well as spreads the word of our project.

WikiProject MMO is also now a participant in the Work via WikiProjects division of Wikipedia 1.0 and as such, we will be helping decide which are the best (based on quality and importance) articles within our scope. Project members can discuss which articles are to be included here.

News from the RuneScape Task Force
We are currently trying to improve this task force so that we can edit all RuneScape-related articles in an organized manner. To do that we started a massive overhaul which we invite all task force members to participate in.

We have also gotten our main article, RuneScape to good article status this quarter. All this, and the task force was only created in January.

Signed...

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Multi-Purpose RuneScape Image.JPG)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Multi-Purpose RuneScape Image.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 01:39, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Kung Fu Chaos Image.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Kung Fu Chaos Image.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:58, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
