JABBATRON
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, JABBA BOT, may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it suggests you are a bot, which is in breach of Wikipedia's username rules. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. Karenjc 11:32, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
what's up Karen my name is a reference to the JabbaWockeeZ performance set to "Robot Remains" in the America's Best Dance Crew Champions for Charity special, in which all seven members created an illusion that they were a giant robot. Hence, "JABBA_BOT." I assure you that I am not actually a robot. JABBA BOT (talk) 11:37, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
- I didn't think you were, and I'm sure your name was chosen in all good faith :) But it does break the rules, and if you keep editing under it, an admin will eventually come along and slap this username with a block, which you might find so annoying you don't bother to get a different name and keep editing, as can happen. This would be a great pity because you're obviously here to contribute, and that's exactly what's needed. I'm not any sort of admin, just an ordinary user like you, and I know how confusing (and at times maddening) it can be, finding your way around this place and getting used to how it works. The username policy, like so many others, is just one of those things you don't find out about until it leaps up and bites you. (If you'd like to see it, the actual relevant section is on the page Wikipedia:Username policy#Appropriate usernames. The line says: "Also, unless your account is an approved bot, your name should not end with "bot", which is used to identify bot accounts.") The reason is that many bots, or automated tools, run on Wikipedia, doing all manner of useful housekeeping tasks, but each one must be approved before it is allowed to operate in case it malfunctions or otherwise causes mayhem. Bots are clearly identified by a username that ends with "bot", and no account that is not a bot is permitted to have a name like this. So a username change is necessary - see instructions above. Drop me a note on my talk page if you need any help with it. Best wishes and happy editing. Karenjc 16:10, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
